Why Marke Matthews, Owner or Joan Berkowitz, Asst. Mgr. chose Trinidad

NEW! Grand opening April 1, 2012

Guestbook comments from the owner

Paula arrived at GEVR in great spirits seeking hiking adventures and fine dining.

They were able to experience both, launching daily activities and nightly excursions moments from Golden Eagle Vacation Rentals.

A 'taste' of the Pacific North Coast, one breath of native cool oxygenated air is all one really needs to want to return here.

Friendly active people like Paula and Leo exemplify the guests that continually come to Golden Eagle Vacation Rentals .

and return for another stellar outdoor experience in this naturalistic jewel, the Pacific North Coast.

When Paula returns, I will rotate the bed 90 degrees so that it is accessible from each side and import a reading light to place atop the widow sill. Then Paula will have access from each side of the bed AND have light to read by.

Also, I would like to import a two person hot tub to place on the porch of the Honeymoon Suite.

The room was left in immaculate condition and I give Paula the 5 star salute for being the ideal GEVR guest.

The honeymoon cottage was the perfect place to celebrate our 41st Anniversary! It was clean, cozy and well-equipped. The coffee and complimentary bottle of wine were much appreciated. The location was right in the middle of our exploration of the Redwood National and State Parks. Great host! Highly recommended!

Very clean and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Mark the owner was very inviting . He immediately answered all our questions. He pleasantly surprised us with wine and a bottle of sparkling cider . This is a very clean and well built lodge type setting and in the early morning we were treated with a family of deer right outside of our porch.

What more can you ask for!

Exhale......lovely cottage tucked in the woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I turned a trip to the west coast for a son's wedding into a min-vacation for us as well. Windows open for the cool night air and to listen to the pond's waterfall (right in front of the cottage porch). Complimentary bottle of wine provided by Mark (owner)! Dinner at Larrupin, about 10 min down the road, day trips out to walk among the redwoods and to get elk sightings....what's not to love. Mark has clearly put a lot of love and time into creating this oasis and I'm so glad I found it on VRBO. If we'd had kids in college nearby, this would have absolutely been our destination for graduation weekend. If I knew someone getting married nearby, this would be a sweet place for that kind of venue as well. Thanks Mark for a wonderful 2 night stay! We will be back if we're ever back in this part of the country!

Owner's Response: What a great couple with fresh ideas for this young business. Thank you for sharing. I will incorporate the savvy marketing strategy of promoting an H.S.U. Professor of the Year promotion during graduation weekend. Thank you for the micro brews!

Excellent romantic getaway and beautiful landscape

  • 5 of 5

Thank you to Marke for providing us with the best accommodations in the area. We searched high and low for the best quality and beauty in the area and was lucky enough to find Golden Eagle cottages. We are so thankful for the excellent friendliness of the host and the immaculate cottage. It was stocked and clean and you just can't beat the location!! We will be returning next year for sure! Hopefully for a longer stay.

Quiet Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was a great place to stay. I have never done a VRBO before and was a little skeptical, but everything went great Marke was a great host and even provided us with a bottle of wine to start off our stay. This property is very quiet and secluded. I would stay here again.

A true "gem" in the redwoods

  • 5 of 5

Ths is a FABULOUS place to stay if you are exploring the "Lost Coast". It is conveniently located just down the road from Patrick's Point State Park. We did hiking there as well as at Trinidad Head. At the time of our stay, we were the only ones there and it was very peaceful and quiet. There is a small pond with water cascading down the rock feature, and the sounds of the running water added to the tranquility. The property was beautiful and the accommodations very comfortable. The bed is surrounded by wall on 3 sides which makes it very cozy, but if you are sharing the bed, be prepared to climb around/over your partner. The bed itself was very comfortable and reading lights above the headboard encourage snuggling up with a good book. We loved having the kitchen area and could do our own breakfast or have a nice glass of chilled wine in the evening. We were greeted upon arrival, shown the layout and standard "how things work". Our host, Marke, was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and had some great suggestions for dining. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Larruchin restaurant down the road. Bring a bottle of wine, a good book and enjoy your stay.
