A classic Carmel cottage in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood, just blocks from downtown Carmel by-the-Sea, allows visitors to enjoy a peaceful retreat while at the same time providing easy access to superb shopping and dining.
This 1,620 sf, 3-bedroom, 2-bath residence, completely updated yet with traditional handcrafted touches throughout, harkens back to Carmelās historic past while providing modern conveniences for guests.
A flagstone path leads to the front door, past Australian ferns and flax, with live oaks and Monterey pines giving graceful notes to the landscape. The split-level residence includes a kitchen, primary bedroom and living room above and two bedrooms below, and is pet-friendly.
The back yard has lovely new landscaping with a large Carmel stone fire pit which is perfect for relaxation and entertainment.
In addition to being within a few minutesā walk of downtown Carmel by-the-Sea and a 10-minute walk to the ocean, the house is just a half hour by car from the natural beauty of Big Sur, 10 minutes from the world-class golf courses and restaurants of Pebble BeachĀ® and 10 minutes from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row.
The eclectic dĆ©cor in autumn shades of moss green, brown, red and gold includes handmade furniture by the owners' son and original artwork by the ownersā daughter. Arts and Crafts style pieces blend with comfortable couches and chairs in the living room, arranged around the wood-burning Carmel stone fireplace with gas kindler to make a natural gathering point for friends and family. A 50-inch HDTV is mounted above the fireplace. There is an integrated entertainment system TV, DVD, internet, Apple TV with easy-to-use single console.
Large windows let in ample light, and wood floors can be found in the kitchen, dining room and living room. The kitchen includes new appliances in brushed nickel, as well as granite counter tops and stove back splash, a large, divided sink with pullout faucet, and a Thermador six-burner gas cook top. The farmhouse dining table seats six near a bay window. Well-equipped for extended stays!
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Upstairs, Bedroom #1 includes a king bed, large armoire with an HDTV, en suite bath with Jacuzzi tub, separate shower and a walk-in closet, as well as a private balcony with seating for two overlooking the back yard which is the perfect place for a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. All bedrooms feature neutral-toned Berber carpeting and cloth Roman shades for windows which filter light and provide privacy.
The two bedrooms downstairs offer comfort and privacy. Bedroom #2 has two twin beds that can convert to a split king with foam topper, allowing for sleeping options and direct access to the grassy back yard through double French doors. Bedroom #3 has a queen bed. Each bedroom includes chairs and large closets. The bedrooms share a Jack and Jill style bathroom between them with tile floors and counter tops in addition to a large mirror and tub-shower combination with a steam shower.
Parking and storage for beach gear is available in a single-car garage next to the house. Two car maximum at this home, carpooling may be necessary.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum.
This home is a monthly rental and we request that all nights of your stay are within the same calendar month. Some exceptions may be possible, with the approval of our team and the homeowner. Extended stays are often possible.
