About Calvin

I am a native New Orleanian who lives in the same building who loves sharing his knowledge to travelers about our unique culture (food, music architecture...). I am available if you need any assistance but will otherwise leave you in peace to enjoy your stay in our amazing neighborhood.

Calvin purchased this apartment in 1999

Why Calvin chose Lower Garden District

If you want a local experience then this place is for you. We are licensed with the City of New Orleans to legally operate as a short-term-rental property. Owner is a member of Alliance for Neighborhood Prosperity, a local STR advocacy group with direct links with specialized local tours of New Orleans and its environs. The property is located along the Magazine Street commercial corridor and also within the historic Lower Garden District neighborhood. The building has been preserved and tastefully renovated by the current owner. This building was designed by the great Henry Howard, a 19th century architect responsible for many of the great mansions found in the Garden District. The property maintains much of its original character and has its own private entrance. The interior is extremely comfortable.

What makes this apartment unique

This property is in the heart of the lower garden district neighborhood and along the Magazine Street corridor. Visitors can truly experience a local lifestyle in an historic New Orleans neighborhood while enjoying the comforts of a well renovated 19th century building. The owner is accessible and is a valuable resource for enhancing your travel experience. The property has an amazing balcony overlooking Sophie Wright Park.

Perfect location and host

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time staying in the Garden District with Calvin as our host. He was a great communicator and also we had just the right amount of space for me, my husband, and infant. Calvin even provided us with the babygate when we arrived! The loft was clean and there are plenty of toiletries and even a couple of refreshments in the refrigerator! We didn't know that we had big such a good place. Thank you so much again Calvin for making our stay so enjoyable!

The apartment in the lower garden district is in a lovely neighborhood and central to just about everything. We walked mostly everywhere but public transportation is readily available. The floors are beautiful and I loved the balcony. Calvin is very responsive to any questions and concerns. I had asked him in advance about having a cooktop available for my stay and he made sure it was available. If we return to New Orleans we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure having Mindy stay at my property for a full week. I enjoyed conversing with her on the balcony during the cool breezy evenings we were fortunate to have. I hope to have another opportunity to welcome her back again on her next visit to New Orleans.

Really easy and it was everything as advertised, it was clean and comfortable.

We came from Minnesota just to experience New Orleans. This place was great because we

could get away from crazy but there were all kinds of good places to eat right underneath us. It was only a $8.00 Uber to downtown. Anyone visiting NOLA needs to see the WWII Museum.

Historical building, comfortable accomodations

This unit is lovely with high ceilings and lots of natural sunlight. Bed was comfortable and the owner was very responsive. I deducted 1 star because the floors were not clean and the rug hadn’t been vacuumed. I contacted the owner and he promptly cleaned the rug while we were out. It was easy to walk to some great restaurants and the streetcar line is only about a 4 block walk away.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. I was unaware of these conditions as my cleaning crew typically does a thorough cleaning (including both wet and dry mopping and vacuuming) between each booking. I will certainly tighten up our cleaning practices to assure this never happens again. We will also be conducting a seasonal "deep cleaning" soon achieve the standard of quality we have achieved in the past (see previous reviews).

Perfect LGD spot

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed here with two friends. Perfect for 1-3 people. Beautiful decor, comfortable, close to great restaurants, shops, coffeehouses. 13 ft high ceilings, loft is roomy. Bike shop about 4 blocks away. (great fun to ride a bike in New Orleans) 6 block walk to the St. Charles streetcar and Bus #11 right on Magazine St out the door takes you to the French Quarter as well. Close for walking/biking around the Garden District. We loved the balcony for relaxing, people watching. Area is a little noisy with street traffic but not overwhelming; the balcony overlooks a little park. Highly recommend; I will definitely be back.

Very good stay in New Orleans, within steps to many restaurants, shops and transportation.

My wife and I had a wonderful time in New Orleans and this condo was perfect for the two of us. Steps from restaurants, shops and transportation. We had a car but did not use it much at all since we were so close to everything. The condo was great very comfortable for the 2 of us. We very much enjoyed setting on the balcony and watching the world go by. Calvin was a great host and made sure we were comfortable and made himself available if we needed anything. I have and will continue to recommend this condo to my family and friends. Come and enjoy this condo and explore all that Magazine St and this neighborhood has to offer.
