Our maison de village is conveniently located in the historic center of town in St. Remy de Provence. Centre-ville is a pedestrian-friendly area where all of the stores, restaurants and daily activities take place. No need to drive into town...everything is just around the corner from our home!
Parts of our townhouse date back to the 14th century. It features renovated exposed stone walls, wood beams, ceramic tile floors, a new kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a sensational rooftop terrace. Some of the ancient stone walls in our home do slowly release a calcium dust so you may note areas of white deposits. This is normal and safe...it is not dirt dust.
Our home is a four story townhouse on a quiet, quaint street in the center of the ancient village.
-The first floor entry has a wonderful sitting room perfect for reading and relaxing.
-The second story has a bedroom with a queen bed, along with a newly remodeled spa-like bathroom including a large walk in shower.
-The third story features a fully renovated stylish Italian kitchen and a cozy and elegant family room.
-The fourth story provides all of the beauty of Provence with a relaxing sun room looking onto a private outdoor terrace with amazing views of other village homes, the neighboring museum and Les Alpilles. It is ideal for relaxation day and night, as well as for aperitifs and meals!
Living in centre-ville, we are ideally situated around the corner from the Hotel de Ville, where all activities, celebrations and markets take place. Boulangeries, patisseries, restaurants, art galleries and stores specializing in Provencal products are located all around just steps from our home.
St. Remy, a village of about 10,000 people, is unique in its history and proximity to the many other jewels of Provence. It is located amongst the ancient Roman ruins of Glanum and boasts the famous psychiatric hospital at which Vincent Van Gogh produced some of his most splendid masterpieces. Nostradamus was born and lived just a few blocks from our home. Outdoor hiking and other activities abound in Les Apilles, the mountains that border our village. Vineyards and olive groves are just minutes away.
We are located about 20 minutes by car from Arles, Avignon, and Les Baux de Provence. An hour or less are Aix-en-Provence, the Luberon mountains (think Peter Mayle novels), the Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape A.O.C wine region, as well as Marseille, Nimes, Montpelier and the Carmargue. The Carmargue is the enchanting, breathtaking 'Wild West' of France that also provides you with multiple opportunities to enjoy the Mediterranean Sea.
