About Russ or Connie Bockhop

Live close by and admired this property for many years. Bought for retirement hobby to clean up and improve. House needed repairs and decided it would make a beautiful vacation home. Happy with finished project and hope visitors will enjoy this unique setting and privacy overlooking beautiful pond.

Russ or Connie Bockhop purchased this chateau / country house in 2008

Why Russ or Connie Bockhop chose Yosemite Area

Challenge and unique setting. Started out as a golf club house built in the late seventies and then turned into a restaurant for many years closing in the early eighties. Since then sat empty and deteriorating until we bought from owners estate. It's been an ongoing project since then. Clean mountain air with level terrain make for ideal experience.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Overlooks pond with fish. Fishing allowed but please release if not going to eat. Rooster tails work best. Easy access to trails for hiking, biking. House has open floor plan with deck & patio for entertaining. Large modern island kitchen with eating bars for serving. Balcony with stairs to patio would work well for outdoor wedding overlooking pond. Plenty of room for parking and guests.

Such a lovely home!!! Quiet serenity!! Exactly what we wanted and needed to totally relax and enjoy!

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful house/cabin and surrounding property is so wonderful !! Totally quiet and peaceful !! We saw deer every morning along with a huge grey heron that liked to fish for frogs in the pond. Big fluffy squirrels chasing each other up the huge trees that surround the property. We brought all of our food with us that we would need for the week and had many a wonderful meal out on the patios. We even utilized the barbecue on the back patio and had a very nice picnic on our last evening there. Beds were super comfy and had electric blankets in case you got cold. And lots of firewood and wood stoves !! We will definitely be back in the winter !!! Thank you Russ and Connie and your cute dog Rascal for sharing such an amazing place !!!!!

Beautiful setting and very comfy

  • 4 of 5

This is a comfortable cabin in the middle of the forest, it was very clean and spacious. We got everything we needed to have a fun and wonderful weekend.

The only thing I would recommend to all visitors is to bring mosquito repellent, because a lot of mosquitos are everywhere outside.

Unique and comfortable home!!

  • 5 of 5

The house is very large and roomy. It is very comfortable. The beds have heated or cooled mattresses. AWESOME!! It is a bit of drive from Yosemite, but well worth it for a comfortable and roomy home away from home!

Tranquility in the trees

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place to go. It is so quiet here. I went for evening walks and the only thing I heard were bugs and my footsteps.

I loved having my morning coffee on the patio. The kitchen is wonderful for prepping full meals. I made almost all meals during our stay and it was never a hassle because the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need.

Be aware that Yosemite National Park is about an hour drive. On the map it looks close. As the crow flies, it probably is, but roads do not go directly to the park from the cabin. The drive to Yosemite is hassle and traffic free.

I was really glad I brought enough food for the week. The markets are not around the corner. The closest full service market is about 25 minutes away.

When we arrived, the kids were so excited. The place is pretty impressive and snacks were left for the kids. They were also happy with the wifi which is very adequate despite being so secluded.

Mariposa is a cool little town. There is a lot of history there. The history museum and geological museum were really interesting. I enjoyed shopping in the cute little shops on the Main Street. The shops have a authentic Victorian look. I don't think they are original to the town, but they appear to be.

The house is beautiful and the lawn and pond in the back made for a beautiful setting.

Property is beautiful! The house is clean, large and spacious. My family and I enjoyed our time here. The only drawback is the long drive to and from town, about 25 minutes. Plan accordingly.
