Newly refurbished historic A frame house situated on twenty acres of large trees with year-round pond for fishing. Wildlife plentiful for observing. Located in Sierra National Forest near Mariposa Pines, above Jerseydale area, at approximately 4000 ft. elevation so have cool evenings in the summer with clear skies for star gazing.
Live close by and admired this property for many years. Bought for retirement hobby to clean up and improve. House needed repairs and decided it would make a beautiful vacation home. Happy with finished project and hope visitors will enjoy this unique setting and privacy overlooking beautiful pond.
Russ or Connie Bockhop purchased this chateau / country house in 2008
Challenge and unique setting. Started out as a golf club house built in the late seventies and then turned into a restaurant for many years closing in the early eighties. Since then sat empty and deteriorating until we bought from owners estate. It's been an ongoing project since then. Clean mountain air with level terrain make for ideal experience.
Overlooks pond with fish. Fishing allowed but please release if not going to eat. Rooster tails work best. Easy access to trails for hiking, biking. House has open floor plan with deck & patio for entertaining. Large modern island kitchen with eating bars for serving. Balcony with stairs to patio would work well for outdoor wedding overlooking pond. Plenty of room for parking and guests.
We spent New Years Eve here. Great location. Cabin is fully stocked. One hour drive to Yosemite--not bad at all. Will definitely be back! The owners are so nice and accomodating. The fireplace was lit when we arrived. Just nice touches everywhere. Clean and comfy. Kids can sprawl out.
The End of the Road Retreat is an incredible place. So peaceful and relaxing. The home is wonderful and the property owners and manager are very responsive. Highly recommended.
We had our wedding here. Like my husband said, "This place feels just like home." The view of pine trees that line up the horizon really took our breath away. Our guests stated that the view during our wedding ceremony was breathtaking and romantic. If you are looking for a calm and relaxing place to get away this is the place to go. The owners and property managers are super friendly and were easy to work with. My husband and I cannot wait to come back for another trip.
This was the best lodging we have ever had. Spacious, clean, scenic area and everything worked. It was easily worth the cost.
We loved our stay at "The End of the Road Retreat". Our family and friends were amazed at how great it was to be out in nature away from the city with all the accommodations of home! We visited Yosemite National Park while staying there, which was beautiful. We took advantage of the kitchen and brought food to cook meals, used the outdoor fire pit to relax out in the stars and most of all the indoor fire place. The rental process was easy and they answered all the questions we had. My only recommendation is plan your route and have written or saved directions do to lack of cell phone coverage in the area, at the home you can use wifi which works great! It really is worth the trip and we highly recommended.
Our family of seven had a wonderful week at End of the Road. The cabin was in pristine condition when we arrived. We were impressed with everything about the cabin itself - the cleanliness, the comfortable furniture, the open floorplan, the amazing kitchen. We had every meal there (except one night of delicious pizza at the Pizza Factory in town) and there wasn't anything we needed that wasn't in the kitchen. It was great having the large property to explore and the pond to fish (fresh bass for dinner one night).
Russ, the owner of the cabin, showed up to meet us and we enjoyed his company immensely. (Thanks for the coffee, Russ!) This is truly a special place to stay. The cabin and property are well-maintained and the owners are obviously conscientious about keeping the place up. The pictures really are not able to do it justice.
Nestled in the Sierra National Forest on twenty sprawling acres with towering pine trees and a private pond right out your back door. Whether you are looking for a vacation spot or a quiet retreat for your business, social group event or unique wedding experience, you've found the right place. A cozy retreat just waiting for you.
The Merced River, Yosemite and Bass Lake Recreational Area are all a short drive away. From exploring Yosemite to water-skiing on Bass Lake, you'll have plenty of adventures to keep you and your family smiling for days to come. The town of Mariposa offers quaint shops for shopping and a museum full of gold rush history and gold panning. A zip line ride at the edge of town is a heart stopping experience.
