About Russ or Connie Bockhop
Live close by and admired this property for many years. Bought for retirement hobby to clean up and improve. House needed repairs and decided it would make a beautiful vacation home. Happy with finished project and hope visitors will enjoy this unique setting and privacy overlooking beautiful pond.
Russ or Connie Bockhop purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2008
Why Russ or Connie Bockhop chose Mariposa
Challenge and unique setting. Started out as a golf club house built in the late seventies and then turned into a restaurant for many years closing in the early eighties. Since then sat empty and deteriorating until we bought from owners estate. It's been an ongoing project since then. Clean mountain air with level terrain make for ideal experience.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Overlooks pond with fish. Fishing allowed but please release if not going to eat. Rooster tails work best. Easy access to trails for hiking, biking. House has open floor plan with deck & patio for entertaining. Large modern island kitchen with eating bars for serving. Balcony with stairs to patio would work well for outdoor wedding overlooking pond. Plenty of room for parking and guests.

What a relaxing place!!!
I don't normally write reviews but I have to do it for this place....This cabin was amazing! It had everything that we need and it felt so cozy. After a long day hiking and exploring Yosemite Park, it was the perfect place to come back to and relax! My family and I will definitely come back...Thank you!
My family just spent the Thanksgiving week at Russ and Connies "End od the Road retreat".
Such a fantastic cabin in the woods, everything we were hoping for.
Loved how clean it was (beds, sheets, rooms, kitchen, etc).
Kitchen was super big and well appointed with tools.
The cabin itself was great and the surroundings are beautiful.
Great character house in real quiet place.
This house was once upon a time a restaurant. It had been modernized with great amenities. The house really is at the end of the road with hiking trails around. Don't count on cell service (a plus if you want to escape) but the WiFi was good for streaming. We hope to come back some day!
Perfect for my wedding of 80 people. My bridesmaids and I stayed in the cabin and we had a great experience. I would love to come back with my family. We enjoyed the trails behind the cabin. Plenty of parking for guest nearby and there were houses for rent near the cabin that guests traveling far away could stay in. It was better than I expected and I was glad I planned my reception at this cabin.
Sisterhood of Travelling Flip Flops
My college travel buddies (Sisterhood of Travelling Flip Flops ) stayed in this beautiful cozy red cottage from September 30-October 2, 2018. Place was spic and span. Everything we needed in the kitchen were all there from spices to pots and pans. Our stay was very relaxing and perfect to reminiscence our college days. We will definitely recommend this End of the Road Retreat to our family and friends.
Before we left, we had a chance of meeting Russ which even made out stay special.
Wish we can post our photo with Russ.
