Get the feeling of rustic living with all of the modern amenities. From the stainless steel appliances and open area loft, to the fire pit and outdoor hot tub. (Seasonal furniture and kayaks). We are on upper Hamlin, meaning depending on the time of year and how the weather is, there are cattails/reeds/rice in the area, but there are always runs cut to get out into the main part of Upper Hamlin. Super Clean and well kept
If you are looking to get away and for a relaxing and beautiful retreat, this is the place! We annually go away as a couple and leave our 3 young kids at home. This was perfect and just what we needed!! So quiet! Close to downtown Ludington and plenty to do!
One thing to note, the launch for the kayaks is down the road and they need to be wheeled down which can be a challenge. Also the area of the lake the shared dock was on, was not really an area for swimming but it is perfect for fishing or kayaking. Obviously everyone has different things they like to do but I thought I would mention that because we were expecting something a bit different when it came to the lake access. It was not a problem though! We found plenty to do and everything was perfect!
We are so glad you guys had a great time!!!! We take pride in our home(s) and look forward to having you back in one of them if you choose us again!
Great outdoor amenities and cute little cabin
This cabin was perfect for a nice camping get away. The woods had some great trails to walk and explore. The fire pit was a great size for everyone to enjoy, hot tub was clean and relaxing. Make sure to bring some heavy duty bug spray because the mosquitos got pretty bad at night. Great place for a weekend getaway!
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay!!!! And yes, sometimes the bugs can feel like they are going to carry you away!!! haha. We hope to see you again at one of our homes!
My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the cabin.
We stayed at Arrowhead cabin for 5 days in July. It"s located close enough to Ludington to enjoy the lake, beaches and lighthouses yet it was nice to be a bit secluded in the peaceful surroundings. The cabin itself was very clean inside, with a really nice woodland decor throughout, the bed was comfy and you have everything you need. We especially appreciated the beautiful deck with the hot tub! (Felt great after all the hiking)The owners were super quick to respond to questions and/or concerns (within minutes) and check in was simple. I knocked off one star because of some clean up on the deck and hot tub we had to do ourselves upon arriving. Not a huge deal and it certainly didn't ruin our stay. All in all we enjoyed our time and would recommend Arrowhead cabin to those looking for a nice place to stay.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay!!!! Sorry for the "clean up" on the deck - being out in the woods you can sweep the deck one minute, and then turn around and have to sweep it again! And despite having a cover, it's difficult to keep the sand out of the hot tub since there is a lot of dirt in the woods, but we try our best. We look forward to having you back in one of our homes :)
WARNING! DO NOT STAY HERE!
We stayed at this cabin from June 25th – June 28th 2018. The pictures of the house are very deceiving. Per the contract, an immediate assessment of the house was conducted and numerous issues reported to the home owners that included: the grass was high, yard debris and cigarette butts on the ground, trash can on back deck was full of garbage not in bags, fire pit had burned garbage in it, grill was not clean, hot tub had sand in it, there was a very strong foul odor when you walked into the side porch, sliding screen door to the back deck was broke, windows were dirty, floors are dirty, carpet dirty and stained and ripped in the bedroom, fridge had food in it along with the freezer, including a glass bowl, kitchen drawers had food and dirt in them, left front window facing the front deck would not open, mice had been chewing on the toilet paper rolls in the bathroom, bed linens were very odorous and dirty, washing machine leaked water, and the internet did not work the entire time of our stay.
I had to wash all the bed linens and all the dishes we planned on using prior to using them. Their answer to the issues was to send a housekeeper out the next morning, and after she left, I cleaned out the fridge and threw out all of the old food and condiments (nothing was suppose to be left in the fridge per contract) along with washing it out so I could put my own groceries in it. We made the best of the situation including boating through the massive aquatic vegetation surrounding the area of the lake the shared dock is located in. This was not shown in the picture used online and caused some engine issues with my boat forcing me to spend part of our time fixing the boat engine.
To make this experience even worse, I was initially denied my security deposit and accused of leaving Marijuana in the bedroom (which was impossible, and probably left by a previous renter), stealing condiments and spices, and lying about the house being dirty. Laura told me that the Mason County Sheriff’s Department was contacted the day of my departure in reference to the Marijuana, however in speaking to the Mason County Central Dispatch along with a Sgt. From the Mason County Sheriff’s Department, zero calls of service of any kind have been reported at the address of the cabin. After lengthy email conversations with Laura, including my interest in taking this to civil court, I was given my deposit back.
Unfortunately, this is a disthonest review, and we have reached out to Homeaway. As potential guests can see, there are multiple 4 and 5 star reviews before (including IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL) and IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR DEPARTURE.
I will try to address your issues. If I could attach photos I would, which include emails and text messages and the police report. OUTDOORS: yes the home is in the woods and it's a rustic cabin, there is not a mowed yard. The housekeeper came out for you’re the day following your checkin – there were NO cigarette butts found anywhere, the trash can on the back deck was full of RETURNABLE POP BOTTLES (no garbage), there were burned logs in the firepit – not trash. INDOORS: The housekeeper came the day after your checkin, and you stated the house was not dirty, but you didn’t want to be held accountable for anything for your security deposit. The housekeeper asked what you would like recleaned – you stated nothing and the house was clean. The screen door is not broke, or off the track – it’s functioning fine. The windows were not dirty neither were the linens…as they washed in between all guests! There is a possibility of a mouse chewing on toilet paper rolls – it’s a house in the woods, and we do have mouse traps out for them. The washing machine only leaks when OVERFILLED. The Internet was down due to Frontier, NOT us. I even sent you a text message FROM FRONTIER explaining that. That was beyond our doing! Yes, the fridge had condiments – it was a fully stocked kitchen. There was nothing expired in the home. You state you threw them all out, however, none of it was found in the garbage – meaning you must have taken them??!! As for the illegal substance in the home, it was reported and I have a police report number. I’d be happy to share on here if able. It’s unfortunate that we received an email from your fiancée who is a DEPUTY OF THE STATE POLICE and he had to exert his level of authority to frankly “bully” us into returning your entire security deposit. It’s most unfortunate. Please next time you leave a review for someone who is gracious enough to rent their personal home out, please be truthful and honest.
Clean and cozy cabin nestled in the woods
We liked the setting of the cabin in the woods and without neighbors nearby. The interior was clean and comfortable. Everything was well stocked and things were in working order. We really enjoyed the hot tub and used it quite a bit. The location was close enough to Ludington where we could get to places we wanted to visit in 15 to 20 minutes. We used the kayaks in the lake and enjoyed that. I was hoping to catch fish at the lake but it was too weedy which was probably the only negative thing I can mention. Thank you for a wonderful trip to Ludington!
We are glad you had a great time! We can't wait to have you back again.....here or any of our homes. Where did you try fishing? We would be happy to give some pointers on the lake. We enjoy fishing there!
Serene, Quiet and Charming
House is well maintained and owners are very receptive
Our Arrowhead Cabin is located on beautiful Hamlin Lake, half way between Ludington and Michigan. Our cabin is a secluded AFrame home on 4 wooded acres that backs up to over 300 private acres and a preserve, with a fire pit and hot tub, and with access to Hamlin Lake. Lake Michigan and one of the best state parks - Ludington State Park - are only 10 minutes away with beautiful beaches, great freshwater fishing, and wonderful hiking / skiing trails. The Arrowhead Cabin is also near several major snowmobile trails.
Our location makes it easy to get to either Manistee or Ludington, so you have an abundant choice of restaurants, shops, and attractions to try.
In the summers, sit and relax by the lake or do some fishing or relax inside with our central air conditioning. In the fall, enjoy the beautiful autumn colors and take in some local apple cider and go for a walk in the crisp leaves. In the winter, enjoy a day of cross country skiing or snowshoeing at the state park, or go for a snowmobile ride.
