Sadly not as expected

While the location is beautiful, this house felt more like a frat pad - very little amenties, plates, utensils and not even a toaster! The dining room table was dismantled. No curtains on first floor master bedroom windows. House is dated, not what I expected from the photos.

Wonderful Family Retreat in PurcellvilleOur three-generation family of twelve stayed here in July, and it was the perfect home base for our time together. The house offered plenty of space for everyone to spread out comfortably, and the layout worked great for both quiet time and group gatherings.The large yard was a favorite — perfect for yard games and relaxing- as long as we limited it to mornings and evenings as July is hot in VA :). We even spotted deer a few times, which added a magical touch to our stay.When something unexpectedly broke on the 4th of July, we were so impressed that—even on a holiday—the owner responded quickly and made sure it was taken care of right away. That kind of attentiveness made us feel well cared for.The home was clean, well-equipped, and in a peaceful location that was still close to everything we needed. We made so many special memories and would absolutely recommend this home to other families or groups looking for a relaxing and roomy place to stay.

Your hosts, Carminda Valente & Carlos Fernandes, are proud Portuguese-American immigrants and now dual citizens, whose families immigrated to the United States in the late 60's and early 70's. Carminda's family immigrated from near Portugal's second most populous port city of Porto (aka: Oporto), settling on Long Island, New York (Nassau County). Carlos' family is from near the capital city of Lisbon (Lisboa), settling first in Newark, New Jersey then in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Both enjoy the hospitality industry and creating unique experiences for their guests.

When they are not hosting guests at one of their 15+ residences that they own and manage, both in the United States (Virginia and Florida), and in Western Europe, they run a thriving Cybersecurity consulting services and solutions company. Carlos serves as Founder and CEO and Carminda is the Co-founder and CFO of Agile Cybersecurity Solution (ACS), a veteran-owned company providing Cybersecurity consulting services to government and commercial client relationships, worldwide.

Carlos is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and a United States Air Force veteran.

Carminda and Carlos have been married for over 30 years and have raised four terrific kids. They now split their time between Palm Beach, northern Virginia, and the Silver Coast of Portugal.
