About the host
Hosted by Alejandro Lopez
I have been coming to Costa Rica for over 20 years. Costa Rica is a very beautiful and special place with friendly people everywhere you go. After just days of visiting Costa Rica for the first time, Sámara stood out from the rest and I was always drawn back to this small beachside town. I originally came for a trip to surf for just a week, but quickly came back. I became friends with many of the local Tico kids in town on my return trips. We would all go surf together and made many memories.
Alejandro is my good friend, a local Tico born and raised in Sámara, a professional surfer, and a hard working honest guy. We have been through a lot together. He personally oversaw the building of the Cima Del Mar condos and will be your local point of contact while visiting Sámara. We are working together on this special project that has been much work, but a dream turned into reality.
I am now married with 3 young kids who also love Costa Rica. We built this place to be fun for the kids, with a mix of shared spaces to enjoy with others, but the ability to go back to your own space for privacy. We hope you enjoy Sámara and Cima Del Mar as much as we do.

Why they chose this property
Playa Sámara has always been a very special place. It is a smaller beachside town that has been growing very rapidly in the past few years. Despite the growth and development, there is still that small town feel. This place is not Tamarindo or Jaco, but there is enough to do to from relaxing on the beach, beach front dining, or the ability to go out at night. There is live music daily, karaoke nights, dance lessons, and a farmers' market. You can go horseback riding, zip lining, enjoy a message, or attend the annual fiestas where you can try street foods, go on rides, and watch bull riding while experiencing some of the local Tico culture. There are many restaurants with very good food in town, and many will deliver to the condo. There are several very good surf spots nearby. The offshore fishing and beach fishing is very good year-round. Enjoy nature, beautiful beaches, tide pools, or take one of the tours available in town. I think you will fall in love with Playa Sámara as well.
What makes this property unique
When I came to Sámara over 20 years ago, the hilltop where the Cima Del Mar condos now stand was our go to spot to get a birds-eye view of the outer reef we called La Liquadora (the blender). The reef was our swell indicator, letting us know where to go surf. The dirt road led to the undeveloped lot with the view. Years later the lot came available to buy. What makes the location ideal is it is right in town. There are many beautiful ocean view homes in the area, but they are usually a far drive into town. Cima Del Mar is right in the middle of town offering the convenience and access to amenities while being far enough away to get out of the dust and noise of downtown. Listen to the ocean while enjoying refreshing breezes at this hilltop location. Cool down from the heat of the day in the infinity pool overlooking the beach, bay, and town. The condos are positioned to enjoy arguably some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. A/C, hot water, a kitchen, refrigerator, WiFi, and TV will hopefully make your stay comfortable and relaxing.
