Cancelled hours before stay

Hours before our family was supposed to stay, we got cancelled due to a “natural disaster.” I messaged them asking if everything was ok and we’d still love to stay if possible. They probably got offered more money from someone else for the Eagles parade. But we were left without a place the day of arrival and could not get another VRBO because you can not check in same day. Such a bummer…
