About Chris Carrigan
We currently live in Raleigh, NC. I am a native while Chris grew up in Massachusetts. We have 4 daughters. We built this house 16 years ago when our oldest was 5 months old. Our children have grown up at this house with years of memories playing on the beach.

We built this house with Chris's parents. In 2011 we lost Chris's father so this house holds dear to our hearts. He loved and cherished this beach house. We hope you can create some great memories as we have over the last 16 years.
What makes this House unique
We put the elevator in for the elderly, or anyone needing special assistance as well as carrying luggage and groceries. We love the privacy of the beach. The pool is a fun afternoon activity after a wonderful day on the beach that offers plenty of shade at your private Tiki bar. Most recently installed a hot tub 2013 and just love it!

Family vaca in North Topsail
This family of 13 enjoyed the Carrigan house and all the amenities. The only disappointment was the hot tub not working, but sure it’s fixed by now. The pool is great. The house was clean. The linens were good quality. The elevator a plus taking gear up and down. The owners were very responsive to a few glitches we had at first - such as the door code not working and our search for a vacuum cleaner. Suggest a new queen bed in the queen size/bunk room. And to all beach house owners, clear out at least half of the clutter in the kitchen drawers and cabinets. We would probably stay again if our number reduces. As it is, we decided we need a larger house with more bathrooms.
Great house, great location, great vacation!
We had a great week at Carrigans Place! The house was clean and had everything we needed! The beds were comfortable- which is always a plus! The elevator was great (if it's not working, make sure all the doors are completely shut!) for carrying on groceries and for my 79 year old grandmother that went with us. Chris was very helping and quick to respond to any questions we had and we received our refund back with no issues! We will be back to Topsail and to this house again for sure!
We were reasonably satisfied but experienced a lot of problems
This is to let you know that to date we have not received our security deposit back from Chris. He sent an email to us a while back asking for our address so he could send it, but so far he has not sent it. We will soon pursue legal action, and intent to name VRBO in addition to Chris. We would like to get this resolved and would appreciate your assistance. Please respond
Great location - but house is in poor shape and owner is very difficult to deal with; stay away
I guess there is no need to describe the beach and ocean - we really liked the remoteness, empty beaches; house was very close to the beach; kids enjoyed the pool. That part was great. The problems were with the condition of the house - it's in very poor shape. Things didn't work, were broken, house was dirty. When we arrived, there was a list on the wall from previous guests of the things which did not work - and half of that list hasn't been fixed on our arrival. I immediately reported that to Chris and property management company - but they ignored me, and kept doing this for the whole 9 days we were there. And if that's was not enough, when we left Chris refused to return the deposit - claiming the things were not working - which I reported to him on the day we arrived! That's absurd. It took me a month and lots of back and forth to get it back.
My recommendation - stay away. It's a good location, house is big - but it's in a bad shape and owner does not seem to care.
Just in case somebody thinks I'm exaggerating, I tried to link images of the complete history of my communication with Chris on HomeAway site but HomeAway does not allow external links unfortunately. But that's an interesting read, I should tell you.
PS the grill was disgusting as others have mentioned. I hope they have replaced it by now - but I won't be surprised if it's still there :)
PPS Reading other reviews, it looks like the owner has a habit of keeping the security deposit - well, beware...
Many great amenities; ocean views and sounds; perfect view of the eclipse. Clean ; need new grill!
Family had so much fun; loved the convenience of the elevator for shopping;.The pool was the greatest asset. Sunrises and sunsets by the ocean can't be beat. Saw dolphins on a short cruise; great thrill for the kids! Owners were very responsive with any small issues we had. Thank you Chris & Brook!
