About Marco Orazietti

I'm an Administration Director at the Ministry of the Interior (Firefighters)

Marco Orazietti purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Marco Orazietti chose Rione XX Testaccio

I love this Area. Testaccio is one of the most vibrant, yet under-rated neighborhoods in Rome. A hub of pubs, late-night clubs, markets and cute specialty shops, there is plenty to see and do in this historical part of the city.

While tourists flock to Trastevere and squish into bars around the historical center, Testaccio, which was once famous for its butcher shops, maintains a low-key, friendly buzz that keeps things interesting, but not overwhelming.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is in the perfect area to move and visit Rome. At 600 metres from the subway. And at 20 minutes walking to the great Colosseum. From here you can reach the main places in few minutes or walking or by public transports. The area is quiet and at one step from the magic monuments of Rome.

Perfect place for an extended stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent three months at Casa Testaccio, and we couldn’t have had a better place in Rome. The rooms were large, and clean, and light, and airy. Having two bathrooms made having a relative and a friend stay with us as easy as could be. The kitchen was well equipped for any cooking we chose to do, and in three months we did a fair amount of cooking. Several of our friends came to Rome for a month or two at the same time as us, and everyone agreed that we had the best apartment. Plus, the neighborhood is great. Not in the middle of historical Rome, we weren’t perpetually surrounded by thousands of tourists, so we could have the experience of living like Romans; shopping at the markets, eating at the terrific neighborhood restaurants (one of the best being right on our corner), and shopping at the little shops. But, we were close enough to the historical center that we could get there on foot in about 20 minutes, and to Trastevere in about 5 minutes. If we didn’t walk, we were on one of several buses or a tram, all within two blocks from our door, that got us to the center in about 5 minutes. And, the Piramide metro stop was less than a ten minute walk. We also found Marco Orazietti to be the most accommodating , and congenial landlord we could have had. We loved the apartment. If we ever get back to Rome, and we certainly plan to, we would want to return to this apartment.

La Dolce Testaccio

  • 5 of 5

This was my second stay in the apartment but it won't be my last. I decided to stay for a month this year to escape the weather in the Northeast of the USA. The affordable price of the apartment made that possible and with all the room I was able to have visits from other family members. Almost every night we gathered around the kitchen table, joined by my daughter, son-in-law and grandson ( who live in the same building) to share meals from the incredible food available at the Testaccio Mercato. And every morning we gathered at Linari for cafe and cornetti, pizzetti, ciamballi, etc. It is a sweet life and would not be possible without Casa Testaccio! Many thanks to the warm and generous owner, Marco, who came to visit one night bearing gifts of cookies, cake and wine. Arrivederci Testaccio!

Perfect Flat for 4

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay and very affordable. Plenty of room for 4 adults with the 2 bathrooms a plus

Kitchen worked for us for breakfast daily and easy to get around Rome via public transportation. A great area for restaurants who catered to us and was able to meet our gluten free needs (Imagine, gluten free spaghetti on your first night) The local market had lots to pick from... I would highly recommend this property for anyone traveling to Rome

great rate, lovely home

  • 5 of 5

Our Roman adventure started with countless hours online, looking for the best place to stay. We wanted to live like locals, not tourists, so we decided a home in Testaccio would be perfect. Marco was very responsive, and had a great price for a home of this size and location. We were two families traveling together, so two bedrooms and two bathrooms was a must. There isn’t a common room – but the bedrooms are very large, one with a couch, and one with a futon – so we were able to visit together very comfortably. It was VERY clean, and confortable. Each bedroom has large shuttered windows overlooking the cobble stone streets, where the horse drawn carriages pass. The rooms also have air conditioning, which came in very handy. The kitchen was well stocked, and also very clean. We felt very safe with locked doors on the entry level and secure locks on our door.

When we arrived the lovely property manager, Nicola, greeted us – and conveniently for us is a native English speaker. She was very helpful with local tips, and even came back the same day with a wireless Internet box for us.

The home is in a great neighborhood with a fantastic restaurant right next door – Antico Forno a Testaccio (were we had one of the best meals in Italy). We highly recommend their Fiorentia. Actually, we highly recommend everything they serve! There are also small grocery stores near by if you plan on eating in.

Since there were 5 of us, we opted to take taxis to the Coliseum and Vatican, instead of buses – which turned out to be very affordable – around 10 Euro.

I would definitely consider staying here again if I am fortunate enough to come to Rome again.

A real Roman experience

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was everything we could have hoped for, and so much more. Dealing with the owner and then the apartment manager was straightforward and simple with no surprises. The rooms are big and comfortable and they were kind enough to supply everything we needed in the way of coffee, tea, condiments, even olive oil and vinegar, paper products, soaps and shampoos, etc. The building is clean and secure and ther is an elevator (a big help to me since I have to use a walker.). But the very best part of living in this apartment is being in one of the most fabulous neighborhoods in the world. Each morning and evening we joined the locals at Linari for coffee, amazing pastries, and the Tavola calda. The whole neighborhood is dotted with great (and inexpensive) places to eat as well as more sophisticated restaurants. Pizza Remo and Volpetti's were personal favorites. Every day I went to the marketplace to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish. I could have spent all day there.

When we did want to sightsee, we could jump on one of the many buses and be in the historic city in minutes. My walking is limited so public transportation was a big bonus.

I can't wait to go back. I now think of this as my apartment in Rome.

(Every morning you hear the gentle clip clop of horses' hoofs as the carriages make their way along Amerigo Vespucci to the tourist areas to give rides.)

Wonderful Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

This apartment exceeded our expectations. It is brighter than the photographs show. Everything is new and clean. The bedrooms are large, with several lamps and each bedroom has a sofa. The beds are firm, but comfortable. We added wifi as an extra and were pleased with the speed of the connection. We stayed in early June and had no need of air con, as the apartment was cool in the evenings. The neighborhood is wonderful. Giollitti gelato just north of the apartment on Amerigo Vespucci is the real deal. There are also many other restaurants in the blocks surrounding the apartment. We traveled with our two elementary-age children and found this neighborhood to be a refuge after hours spent in the crowds at the major sights. A small supermarket and BNL (partner with Bank of America) are within a few blocks. We saw tourists in all the other parts of Rome, but not here. We walked easily to Pantheon, Trestavere, Piazza Navona, Colosseum. We highly recommend this apartment. The owner and city manager were very responsive and helpful.
