This cabin is new to VRBO,
Enjoy the peace and quiet of our intimate, family-friendly resort on quiet pristine Hardy Lake. Only four cabins . Wonderful place for your family getaway. There is something for everyone:
We offer two cabins, Cabin 4 and Cabin 5, which are similar. Check out our website at Shady Hollow Resort for further information. If there is one you prefer over the other, let us know and we will try to accommodate your wishes. If it is still available, it just means there is at least one of these are open for the dates you are requesting.
Our spacious 2-bedroom 1 bath + loft has become a guest favorite. Whether you are sitting on your deck or standing at your large window. You will have a spectacular view of the lake and the native wildflowers cascading down to the majestic lily pad garden. There is also a beach side fire pit at the lake front where you can watch the stars and listen to the loons of Hardy Lake. With central air, Smart TV, and a dishwasher, this cabin gives you a comfortable open airy space to rest and recoup after a long day in the sun.
*Price includes cleaning fee; however, our expectation is that you will leave the cabin as clean or cleaner than you found it. Thank you.

For 33 years, we’ve owned, managed, cleaned, maintained, and handled bookkeeping for Shady Hollow Resort. Watching families grow up here has brought us immense joy—especially when children return with kids of their own. We feel truly fortunate to be part of the Brainerd community at this point in our lives.
When we purchased this little slice of heaven three decades ago, its small size, peaceful atmosphere, close proximity to Brainerd, and well-spaced cabins immediately appealed to us, offering guests the sense of their own yards. After 48 years of marriage, owning Shady Hollow Resort has been our dream job ever since our dating days, and that passion remains today.
Currently, we've scaled down to two cabins available for weekly or shorter rentals, along with two more offered as full summer season rentals. If you’re interested in seasonal rental, please reach out!

We chose Brainerd because it was close enough to the cities and had all the amenities we were looking for; shopping, hiking, fishing, beaches, now with some unique restaurants in the area, why would you want to be anywhere else.

Looking to buy a resort, we knew from the moment we arrived that it was the perfect fit for us. Its peaceful setting offered a quiet escape, yet it was conveniently close to town. The size was just right—small enough for us to manage on our own. Confident in our determination, we believed that with hard work, we could make the business thrive. We committed ourselves fully, and through dedication and effort, we succeeded in building a successful operation. Of course, as with any business, we faced challenging times, but looking back, those difficulties made us stronger and more resilient. We offer a variety of amenities for our guests to enjoy, including kayaks, paddle boards, a paddle boat, and a canoe—all available free of charge. The cabins are thoughtfully spaced throughout the property, rather than being lined up along the beach, providing privacy and a sense of tranquility. Our lakeshore restoration project has been a source of pride, featuring native wildflowers that we have shared with many guests over the years. If you are unfamiliar with making a fire, cleaning a fish, or using a motor or paddleboard, we are always happy to assist. Just let us know—our goal is to ensure you have a wonderful and memorable experience during your stay.
