Austen is a cabin for families and friend groups who want room to spread out without losing the feeling of being somewhere. Kids claimed the bunk room, adults have two king beds across two levels, and there's a covered deck waiting for the kind of evening that stretches longer than you planned.
Named for Jane Austen — who understood better than most that the best stories happen when the right people are in the same room — it's one of four cabins at Notestone Reserve, our family-owned 14-acre property in Laurelville.
⭐ What You'll Love • The covered deck — plenty of seating, your own outdoor living room • Fire pit for the evening stretch when no one's ready to call it a night (firewood on site) • Personal hot tub off the lower level, covered for all-weather soaking • The shared game room — pool table, arcade, 85" TV, and more, just a short walk across the property • Enough space that everyone has their own corner, but an open main floor that keeps the group together
🌲 Outside • Covered deck off the main floor with seating • Fire pit for s’mores, stargazing, and evening conversations (firewood on site) • Personal hot tub off the lower level — covered, so it works in any weather • Propane grill with tools
🏠 Sleeping • Loft: king bed • Main floor: kids' bunk room with twin-over-full, woodland-themed • Lower level: king bed • Pack 'n play available on site — just give us a heads up. Sheets not included, so bring your own if needed.
🍳 Main Floor Open concept kitchen, living, and dining — the kind of layout where whoever's cooking is still part of the conversation. Bluetooth speaker for the background noise. Full kitchen with everything you need to cook a real meal. Island seating for 6. • A heads up: no garbage disposal or dishwasher — plan accordingly for longer stays. • Kitchen stocked with the basics to get you started — salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, foil, and cooking spray.
🚿 Bathrooms Two full bathrooms with showers — one on the main floor off the kitchen and next to the bunk room, one on the lower level.
🎮 Lower Level • King bedroom • Seating for 6 at the table • 65" Smart TV • Arcade machine
🐾 Dogs Welcome Up to 2 dogs allowed per stay. One crate is provided. Dogs must remain leashed on the property and off the furniture. A $100 pet fee applies per stay.
🏡 The Shared Game Room Open to every Notestone guest, just a short walk across the property: • 85" Smart TV • Pool table • Foosball • Basketball arcade • Classic arcade machines and a racing game • Legos, card and board games, indoor cornhole • Plus an outdoor playground for the kids (big and small)
🧴 What's Here When You Arrive Every bathroom comes stocked with the good stuff — shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. One less thing to remember when you're packing for the weekend.
We provide a starter kit of the essentials — 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels, a kitchen sponge, and trash liners. We recommend bringing a little extra just in case.
🗺️ What's Nearby Notestone Reserve sits in the heart of the Hocking Hills, close enough to hit two or three trails in a day and still be back in time for the fire pit.
Rock House — 7 minutes Conkle's Hollow — 15 minutes Old Man's Cave — 20 minutes Ash Cave — 26 minutes
Cedar Falls, Cantwell Cliffs, and the rest of the state park system are all within a short drive as well.
📶 About the WiFi We offer Starlink satellite internet. In general it holds up well — most guests have no trouble streaming movies or music without issue. That said, satellite internet is a different animal than what you're used to at home. Video calls and long phone calls can cut out from time to time, especially on cloudy days when the router is working harder to find its signal. We'd rather tell you upfront than have you find out mid-Zoom. If you're planning to work remotely during your stay, it can work — just plan for the occasional hiccup.
🌿 A Note on the Setting We're in a wooded area, and while we stay on top of regular pest control, the occasional ladybug or curious spider showing up is just nature doing its thing.
📋 A Few Things to Note We're a small, family-owned operation, and keeping Notestone calm and well-kept is a group effort. A few things we ask: • No parties or events, including bachelor/bachelorette groups. And no glitter — it never, ever goes away. • Only registered guests on the property • No smoking, vaping, fireworks, ATVs, hunting, or weapons • No commercial photography or videography without written approval • Hot tub: use the striped towels provided and keep the cover on between soaks • Septic-safe: flush toilet paper only; no garbage disposal at the sink • Under normal conditions, our driveways are accessible in just about any vehicle. Austen does have a steeper approach, and for that we strongly recommend four wheel drive or all wheel drive during winter months when ice and snow are a factor. • Check-in: 4:00 PM / Check-out: 11:00 AM
✏️ Before You Arrive All guests sign a simple renter agreement once you book. We'll send it over — quick, painless, and it helps us take good care of you and everyone else on the property.

A weekend at The Austen was perfect for our family
Our family of 5 (3 college age children) enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the Austen. We were able to sit on the deck or patio, enjoy conversations in the hot tub, play games, and enjoy nature (views, birds, deer, rain showers, etc). The cabin is well thought out for everything you could need, even for a family of young children. Plenty of bedding, seating, and extra blankets for indoors and outdoors. We will definitely be back!!

Perfection! Cabin, Reserve, Location
We had an incredible stay at this cabin and couldn’t have asked for a better setup for our family of five. Traveling with three kids can be tricky, but this place was absolutely perfect for us, spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed so everyone had room to relax and enjoy.
The interior is beautifully done in a mid-modern style that feels both cozy and elevated. Everything was spotless and incredibly well-appointed. From great coffee and a fully stocked kitchen to all the toiletries you could possibly need, it truly felt like nothing was overlooked. We never once had to say, “I wish they had thought of this”, because they had.
The hot tub was a huge highlight for all of us. Soaking while taking in the stunning views was pure relaxation, and those views alone are worth the stay. Morning coffee and evening downtime were equally magical.
We also have to give special recognition to the barn, what an amazing bonus. The kids (and adults!) had a blast with the video games and pool table, and it quickly became a favorite family hangout. It added so much fun and made our time together even more memorable.
The hosts were fantastic from start to finish responsive, friendly, and incredibly easy to work with. Communication was quick and clear anytime we had a question, which made the entire experience seamless and stress-free.
We truly can’t wait to come back. This was one of those stays that leaves you already planning the next visit and next time, we’re absolutely trying the mirrored cabins. Highly recommend!

Hi, I'm Stacey — one of the founders of Notestone Reserve, and the person who's been hands-on in shaping every space on the property.
Restoration is something I think about a lot. The idea that something with potential can become something worth keeping — that broken pieces, arranged with care, can turn into something magnificent. Stained glass works that way. So does Notestone.
This property started as a vision and a lot of hard work. What it is now — ten units across 14 acres in the heart of Hocking Hills, each one named for a writer who paid attention to the world around them — is the result of believing that where you rest matters.
Every detail reflects what I personally look for when I travel: comfort without pretense, nature without roughing it. The kind of place where memories get made without trying — and you leave with a story worth telling.
I'm proud of what we've built. And I'd love to have you here.
Welcome to Notestone Reserve.
What makes this property unique
Austen is a cabin for six with room for everyone and a layout that actually keeps the group together — open main floor, a kids' woodland bunk room, two king beds, and a lower level with its own arcade machine and 65" TV. The covered hot tub and fire pit handle the evenings.
As a Notestone Reserve guest you'll also have access to our shared community game room — pool table, basketball arcade, classic arcade machines, and a TV lounge. Most nights it's all yours. It's the kind of bonus that turns a rainy afternoon into the highlight of the trip.
Notestone Reserve sits in Laurelville, right in the heart of Hocking Hills. Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, and Conkle's Hollow are all a short drive away — enough to keep the whole group busy by day and talking about it by night.
