About this property
Fairhope's 1910 Tin Ceiling Treasure · 2 Kings · Live Oak Acre
"Make sure to eat at least one breakfast out on the back porch looking at the huge live oaks." — Sarah ★★★★★
There's no place like this in Fairhope. Built in 1910 and loved by only a handful of families since — including a Venezuelan consul — this 4-bedroom estate sits on over an acre of century-old live oaks in historic Montrose.
Every surface has a story. Original embossed tin covers the walls and ceilings. Hand-carved fretwork frames every downstairs doorway. The floors are original maple and heart pine that's been aging since before your grandparents were born. Original wavy glass and stained glass windows still catch the light.
And then you step out back.
The giant covered porch opens onto a private yard shaded by oaks that were old before the house was built. There's a fire pit. There are rocking chairs. There is exactly nothing to do but be there.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home located conveniently between Fairhope and Daphne. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms are updated, and the modern kitchen is both attractive and easy to use.The host was excellent with communication and very accommodating throughout our stay. There is a nature preserve about a mile away that provided great activities for our family, and downtown Fairhope is only about two miles away.We truly enjoyed our visit and hope this place is available for our next trip
We had a fantastic stay at Dave’s house in Fairhope. The house was charming and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The beds and the bedding were super comfortable. I felt weightless in the bed, like being on a cloud. The neighborhood was so pretty and we were close to downtown and the bay too. You will love it!
We were greeted by Dave, our wonderful host. Everything in the house was on point. The house, the backyard view, the neighborhood is breathtaking. We absolutely loved and enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous home full of history and peaceful vibes. And the walk to Stedman's landing to watch the sunset is a must.
Perfect location, lovely house, very responsive owner. Linens were excellent. Fairhope is a very nice city with lots to do and see. We enjoyed our stay very much!
This house is in a very convenient location for visiting Fairhope, Daphne, and even Foley and Gulf Shores. It is a very nice house that is well-appointed. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful. We enjoyed our 9 day stay very much and will consider again for future trips.

We had a wonderful Christmas week in this very unique, historic, comfortable, and .convenient house! Such an interesting interior! Historic beautiful light fixtures and furnishings to suit the comfort and entertaining needs of our large family. Our host was welcoming, informative and friendly.
We had the absolute best stay at this Fairhope home! Dave was incredibly helpful and responsive from start to finish, and he gave us the best recommendations for things to do with both the kids and the adults. He truly went above and beyond to make sure our trip was smooth and fun.The house itself is stunning — beautifully designed and exactly as described (if not better!). The beds were so comfortable, and the towels and linens felt luxurious. Every detail made it feel special and welcoming. It truly is the coolest house in Fairhope, just like the listing says. We would absolutely stay here again!
We loved our stay in this charming historic home right in the heart of downtown Fairhope. It was clean, cozy, and full of character — close to shops, restaurants, and the pier. The perfect mix of comfort and charm. We’ll definitely be back!
This house just north of Fairhope is the perfect mix if you are looking for quiet coastal getaway but still want to engage with a beautiful little town, great dining and water frontDave has done a great job creating a house that is keeping with the historic charm of Montrose matched with modern amenities for a family staying in a house. He took the initiative to walk thru the check in process and made check out very simple. My family of 4 enjoyed the spacious living room and the soaking tub was used multiple times. Also, enjoyed the outdoor dining table and large live oak trees around the propertyThe proximity to Steadmans landing is a whimsical way to get to the water for a beach, swimming, exploring and sunset watching without getting in your car and driving across townWe really had a great stay. Thank you !!
We came to Fairhope for a wedding and stayed for a long weekend (Thursday-Sunday). This house itself and the location was perfect for what we needed. Dave was great at communication and made sure that we had everything we needed before we even arrived and checked in with us daily as well. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone else looking for a good and safe place to stay.
We enjoyed our stay at the Coolest House in Fairhope. There were six of us including my wife and our adult children and their spouse/friend, so the house layout suited us well with 4 bedrooms and comfortable queen/king beds in each room. The multiple living areas upstairs and down and the large dining room gave us plenty of space to gather. We also enjoyed the large porches outside and the beautiful yard. Everything was in full bloom while we were there and the weather was perfect for sitting outside. The house is in an ideal location for easy access to downtown Fairhope and Daphne as well as the beach. Don't miss the short 5-10 minute walk to Steadman's Landing, a city park, that gives you access to the bay for morning walks on the beach and beautiful sunsets in the evening. Our hosts, Dave and Jen, were available if we needed anything and offered recommendations for dining. The house was well furnished with everything we needed. We would definitely recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay. The home was beautiful and it was refreshing to stay in a home and neighborhood with so much history and beautiful architecture. We did wish there was a little blurb with history of the house and neighborhood. It would just add to the experience.Hosts were attentive to any needs we might have, although all was provided. The home was clean, beds were comfortable, plenty of high end linens. Our favorite place was the back porch. We spent morning and evening hours enjoying the PORCH!Thank you and we hope to be back soon!
This house is amazing! It combines the nostalgia from earlier times and the charm of the area in present day. Not only is the house amazing, but the property itself. It sits on what I suspect is an acre or more, and is surrounded by a number of live oak trees. The front porch provides a welcoming spot to sit and enjoy the breeze. Also, it is a short drive from downtown Fairhope and the Fairhope pier where incredible sunsets can be witnessed.Check-in was incredibly easy. Our first impression was that the house was very clean and very well appointed. It had everything that we needed for our stay. If you are in the Fairhope Alabama area, I highly recommend you consider choosing this property for your stay. You will not be disappointed!

It sounds like you truly enjoyed the entire property, from the expansive yard with its magnificent live oak trees to the welcoming front porch, which is one of our favorite spots, too. We're also glad you appreciated the easy access to downtown Fairhope and the famous Fairhope pier for those amazing sunsets.
We take great pride in making sure the home is sparkling clean and well-appointed with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay, so your comments mean a lot to us.
Thank you again for your recommendation! We look forward to welcoming you back to our little piece of paradise in Fairhope.
Jenny grew up in Fairhope. Dave got here as fast as he could. Between us, we know every good table in town — and we'll send you a curated dining list when you book, plus more specific picks once we know what you're after. We're responsive, we know the area, and we want you to have the best trip possible.
Why they chose this property
Because you can't replicate 115 years of character. The tin ceilings, the hand-carved fretwork, the live oaks — these aren't features you can add to a new build. Guests describe it as a "rare beauty" and say they regret only booking five nights. The most architecturally distinctive rental in Fairhope, on over an acre, five minutes from everything.
What makes this property unique
Most Fairhope rentals are smaller, newer, and closer together. This is 2,600 sq ft of 1910 architecture on over an acre — with space for the whole group, privacy, and more personality per square foot than anything else in town.
