Charming and newly constructed this timber frame home is just four miles north of the village. This home is situated in a quiet, peaceful setting with expansive views to the Mt. Mansfield ski trails, a six person hot tub and a private pond. The kitchen is spacious with a large island, and fully stocked with all of the equipment and utensils you will need. The family room features a gas fireplace with stone surround, satellite TV with surround sound, a DVD player, and a Bluetooth receiver for music. The whole-home DVR has numerous movies already recorded for your enjoyment. The entry closet includes plenty of DVD's, books, and games to choose from. The outdoor covered porch and deck offer an amazing view in every season. In the summer months, the outdoor fire pit, basketball hoop, and pond provide for additional recreation. Available nightly, weekly, and monthly.
Honestly, the place was just outstanding. Much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside, this charming & comfortable modern reinterpretation of a log cabin gives you gorgeous mountain views (and a large hot tub to enjoy them from), a beautiful, modern kitchen and family room area replete with big screen HDTV, 3 lovely bedrooms (each w/additional TVs) plus a fourth with two sets of bunk beds, 3 full baths, A/C everywhere but the basement (which in late August was both very much necessary and very much beloved by my family)... plus enough robust WiFi to keep our kids occupied while my wife and I stole out for a few hours to visit some of the area's finery breweries. Add in a great location just minutes north of downtown Stowe (and Idletyme Brewing and The Alchemist) and less than half an hour north of Waterbury and the highway (Ben & Jerry's HQ for the kids; the phenomenal Blackback Pub for my wife and I), and you've got the recipe for what was - as far as I can tell - the ideal long weekend in Vermont.
Lazy Bear was a great house. We stayed there for 5 nights. Four adults four children. The downstair living room/bunk room/bathroom/king bedroom was a perfect spot for the kids to play and have their own space. They loved the heated floor. The adults had the upstairs living room/kitchen/dining to hang out in. The house was immaculate. The hot tub was perfect and the views were awesome. There is a small hill in the back for the kids to tube down and a lake that was frozen over. You could see the ski mountain from the back. The fireplace in the living room was cozy and convenient. There are lots of games and puzzles at the house for the kids. Negatives included: trash needed to be taken to dump by renter before leaving, not enough hot water for all 8 of us to shower in the morning, propane tank on grill was empty (but it was easy to refill in town and get reimbursed), the safety of the lake was questioned (how deep was it?). Overall this house was a wonderful place to stay while skiing Stowe. We would definitely rent this house again.
Remotely located in a private setting, this private home is also close to all that Stowe and Morrisville have to offer, including find dining, unique shops and boutiques, antiques, and great recreational opportunities in all seasons.
