A perfect 5.0 â and guests keep saying the same thing: bigger and better than the pictures even show. High Tide Retreat is a beautifully finished 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home tucked between Front Street and the harbor in the heart of downtown Beaufort. Walk to dinner. Launch your boat at dawn. Come home to premium finishes, three private en-suites, and a rocking chair porch that makes leaving feel like a shame. The Crystal Coast`s most livable address.

Welcome to High Tide Retreat â Beaufort the Way It Was Meant to Be Experienced.
Most Crystal Coast vacation rentals are near Beaufort. High Tide Retreat is in it â positioned between Front Street and Live Oak Street in the heart of downtown, where the harbor is a short walk, the restaurants are steps away, and the historic neighborhood does what Beaufort has always done: makes you slow down without asking.
Walk to Front Street in the morning. Browse the waterfront shops. Watch the wild horses on Carrot Island from the harbor. Find a table at one of the waterfront restaurants for dinner and walk home in the evening air. Meanwhile, your offshore fishing rig sits safely in the oversized driveway and Taylor`s Creek boat ramp is five minutes away when the day calls for it. High Tide Retreat doesn`t make you choose between a beautiful downtown experience and a serious boating trip. It delivers both from the same address.
Then there`s the house itself. Guests consistently say it looks even better in person â premium finishes, thoughtful craftsmanship, and three private bathrooms for six guests that set a standard most vacation rentals at this size simply don`t reach. High Tide Retreat is the kind of place that makes the Crystal Coast feel like home rather than a destination.
đș The Golf Cart â Beaufort Is Better From the Seat of One
At a glance: Included · Street legal · Front Street in minutes · Harbor, shops & restaurants · The whole town accessible
Beaufort is a town that rewards slow movement â and nothing slows you down in exactly the right way like a golf cart on a warm coastal evening. The cart is included with your stay and in a downtown location like High Tide Retreat, it transforms the entire texture of the trip.
Morning ride to a waterfront café. Midday cruise down Front Street with the harbor on one side and the historic homes on the other. Evening loop through the neighborhood before dinner. Late night return with the town quiet and the dock lights reflecting off the water.
Beaufort`s streets were made for this. The historic district, the waterfront, the shops and galleries, the ferry dock â all of it is accessible within minutes from the driveway. Guests who arrive by car often find that by day two the car hasn`t moved and the cart has handled everything. For a town as walkable and charming as Beaufort, a golf cart doesn`t just add convenience â it adds an entirely different way of experiencing the place.
For boaters: the cart handles town while the driveway handles the boat. Taylor`s Creek ramp is five minutes by car at dawn. Everything else is a cart ride from the front porch.
đ¶ Downtown Beaufort â Walk Out the Front Door
At a glance: Front Street waterfront · Restaurants · Shops · Harbor · Wild horses on Carrot Island · Historic district · All walkable
Beaufort, North Carolina is one of the most genuinely charming small towns on the East Coast â a working waterfront with centuries of maritime history, wild horses visible across the water on Shackleford Banks and Carrot Island, world-class seafood, and a Front Street that has remained stubbornly, beautifully itself despite everything the modern coast has done to neighboring towns.
High Tide Retreat sits right in the middle of it. The morning walk through the historic neighborhood that Joe described â past rocking chair porches and ancient oaks, toward the harbor light â starts from your front door. Front Street`s restaurants, galleries, and waterfront are a short walk. The ferry to Cape Lookout and the wild horses of Shackleford Banks departs nearby. Everything that makes Beaufort worth visiting is within comfortable walking distance of the front porch.
For guests who have driven through Beaufort on the way to the beach and always meant to stay longer â this is the property that makes that happen.
â Boat Parking & Ramp Access â Launch at Dawn, Dine at Sunset
At a glance: Oversized driveway · Offshore boat & trailer accommodation · Taylor`s Creek ramp 5 min · Downtown Beaufort dinner walkable
The driveway at High Tide Retreat was built with the serious boater in mind. Offshore fishing boats, large trailers, multiple vehicles â the layout accommodates all of it without the shuffling and maneuvering that plagues most downtown vacation rental driveways. No HOA restrictions. Multiple access arrangements. Taylor`s Creek boat ramp is less than five minutes away.
For the fisherman or boater who has always had to choose between a convenient boat launch and a walkable evening in a good town â High Tide Retreat removes that choice. Rig secured in the driveway. Alarm set for pre-dawn. Boat on Taylor`s Creek by first light. Back by afternoon for a shower and a walk to Front Street for dinner. That itinerary, from a downtown Beaufort address, is what makes this property genuinely rare in the market.
âš Premium Finishes â Better in Person Than in Photos
At a glance: Recently updated · Guest-verified craftsmanship · Modern decor · Immaculate condition · Exceeds photo expectations
Two independent guests, in separate stays, said the same thing without being asked: the house is bigger and better than the photos show. One called out `premium finishes throughout` and an `amazing large shower.` Another noted `excellent craftsmanship` and `lovely bathrooms.` A third called it `immaculate.`
This is not a property where the listing photos are doing the heavy lifting. High Tide Retreat is a recently updated, beautifully decorated home where Bethany`s investment in quality â the furniture, the finishes, the linens, the details â shows up in person in ways that photographs struggle to capture. The bedrooms feel more spacious than expected. The bathrooms feel more considered. The overall impression is of a home that was designed to be lived in well, not just photographed for a listing.
đ Three Bedrooms, Three Bathrooms â Every Guest Has Their Own
At a glance: King en-suite · Two queen en-suites · Standalone soaking tub · Large walk-in showers · Sleeps 6
For a group of six, three bathrooms means no waiting, no scheduling, and no compromises â a standard of privacy and comfort that most vacation rentals at this size don`t come close to offering.
Bedroom 1: King bed, private en-suite with large walk-in shower â the primary suite set apart from the other bedrooms for genuine privacy
Bedroom 2: Queen bed, private en-suite with large walk-in shower
Bedroom 3: Queen bed with access to the hallway bathroom
Hallway Bathroom: Standalone soaking tub with wand â a spa-level feature that Erin described as `a godsend` for larger groups
Every bedroom has ceiling fans, ample clothing storage, and room to fully unpack and settle in. Extra pillows and blankets throughout. This is sleeping accommodation designed for real rest, not minimum compliance.
đĄ The Rocking Chair Porch â Beaufort`s Best Ritual
At a glance: Front porch · Rocking chairs · Historic neighborhood · Morning coffee · Evening unwinding
The rocking chair front porch at High Tide Retreat is not incidental. It`s one of the most Beaufort things about the property â the classic coastal porch that invites you to sit with a coffee in the morning and a drink in the evening while the neighborhood moves at its own unhurried pace. The historic district character around you completes the picture. This is what people mean when they say Beaufort feels different from other coastal towns. It starts on a porch like this one.
đż Private Fenced Backyard â Quiet, Enclosed, Yours
At a glance: Fully fenced · Multiple access points · Private · Dog friendly · Peaceful
The fully fenced backyard at High Tide Retreat offers genuine seclusion in the middle of a downtown neighborhood â multiple access points from inside and outside the home, completely private, and quiet in the way that established residential Beaufort neighborhoods tend to be. For families with kids or dogs, the fence does the same anxiety-relieving work it does at every well-fenced property in this portfolio. For couples or groups who simply want outdoor space that feels private in the heart of town, it delivers that without any compromise.
đł Fully Stocked â Ready From the Moment You Arrive
At a glance: Fully equipped kitchen · All cookware · Washer & dryer · Fast WiFi · Smart TVs · Extra linens & blankets
The kitchen at High Tide Retreat is fully stocked for real cooking â all cookware, utensils, and the essentials you need to prepare meals without a store run for basics. Joe specifically called out how much he enjoyed preparing meals in the kitchen during his family`s stay. Washer and dryer on-site for packing light. Fast WiFi throughout. Smart TVs in the living space. Bath towels, washcloths, and makeup cloths all provided.
One note: shampoo and body wash are not provided at this property â please pack your own toiletries.

About the host
Hosted by Bethany Smith
I am originally from the Midwest, where I grew up in a small town in central Michigan. After too many harsh winters, I eventually moved to North Carolina to chase the warmer weather and explore everything the state has to offer. After 15+ years in NC, its safe to say we now call it home. My husband and I reside in Beaufort, NC where we have two properties offered to guests and can be there in a jiffy if anything arises. I know how important it is to take a vacation and recharge your batteries, so I take pride in giving my guests the kind of experience that I would hope for on my own travels.
Why they chose this property
This neighborhood is quiet, quaint and convenient to everything, making it one of the best locations in Beaufort. With its central location and access to the bike route, you can take a walk or ride to quickly get to Front Street or grab groceries nearby. Or easily leave town to head over the bridge to Morehead City and Atlantic Beach.
Plus, this neighborhood is not part of a HOA that could put a damper on your day. With space for a large boat and trailer, and multiple vehicles or a golf cart, parking is not something to stress about on vacation. We've got you covered! The large front and back yards give you the freedom to play outdoor games and enjoy cookouts without feeling cramped. Spread out and enjoy the property - you will quickly see why this neighborhood is loved by all!
