This place was truly magical! It was a perfect stay with five other close friends. Just the sound of the waves and the view was just what we needed for a great girls getaway!
Everything about this stay was great! The house and location are beautiful and we had just what we needed. It was comfortable and very clean. We sat right beside the water on the back deck or soaked in the hot tub each evening to watch the sunset, and then we came inside and made a fire in the fireplace. A dreamy vacation. Karen, our host, was very responsive and accommodating, especially when we asked at the last minute to extend our stay. We will remember this place and hopefully stay there again.
This is a beautiful location. Getting to step out the back door and walk on the beach is amazing. And listening to the waves while you go to sleep is so very peaceful.
Sunny, relaxing stay at this appropriately size VRBO home for 5 adults and 2 kiddos. We had a ball walking on the beach during low tide, using the hot tub, and playing board games offered.
We had a great time- layout of the house was perfect for us, our 2 little kids and 2 friends. The grill was not working and the kitchen stove is a bit well loved so not an ideal place for cooking/grilling but great for beach access!

Erin, we are soooo sorry for the grill not working, we came by and checked it out and it appears low on propane. Thanks for the feedback on the stove, we replaced it and the microwave with a new unit!
Quiet, peaceful place with stunning view and hot tub ON THE BEACH!
A fantastic place to quietly ring in the new year. The kitchen was spacious so we could make tamales and the living room was ideal for watching the Seattle Space Needle fireworks. Restaurants and stores close enough to grab what you forgot to pack and so many state parks nearby. Awesome!
If you want to be able to hear the water from the house, this is your place. Great location, plenty of space to spread out, and you can walk to the water in seconds.
Away from the commercial areas, which was great for us. An easy drive to anywhere you need to go.
Extremely friendly hosts who helped us make sure we knew what to expect before arrival and had lovely toys available both indoor and for the beach for our toddler.
My family and I truly enjoyed staying at this beautiful home. The greeter, Wally, was great and answered any questions we had. The open concept is great for family gatherings. The two bedrooms facing the water have spectacular views. The beds were very comfortable. The fireplace was great for cozy evenings relaxing and enjoying family time. The kitchen was very well stocked. We loved our stay.
We loved this clean, neat house right on the beach. Quiet neighborhood easy drive from Seattle. Very close to Oak Harbor, grocery store and restaurants. Hot tub was awesome. Excellent communications with host and caretaker. We had three adults needing to work and there was enough room and extra chairs and folding tables to allow us to set up multiple work stations--all with a view!
Our family of 4 (kids ages 8 and 10) stayed here and it was a perfect size and location for our trip. It was a 30 minute drive to Anacortes for whale watching, a 15 min drive to Fort Casey and Coupeville for exploring and a 10 min drive to Oak Harbor.
The kitchen was well stocked and the full washer and dryer were great for our family. The living room was very cozy and we loved watching the waves from the hot tub. Our kids especially loved watching the planes every evening leave the naval base!
Overall it was a great stay and we would love to visit again.
Absolutely gorgeous property with the most amazing water views, especially from the hot tub! We spent Thanksgiving weekend with our two teenaged children and were able to cook a full Thanksgiving meal in a wonderfully stocked kitchen. Chuck and Karen are amazing hosts, even ordering a hand-mixer to be delivered for our stay so we could whip fresh cream for our pumpkin pie! Comfortable beds and every amenity we needed made our stay easy and so relaxing. We made wonderful memories and were able to fully decompress during our stay. We will definitely be back!
We had a lovely family getaway to Whidbey at Karen and Chuck’s home spectacularly located on the water. Perfect for our family of 6 with comfortably sized rooms, all with incredible views of the Puget Sound, San Juan island, the Olympics, etc. The hot tub perched by the water was a big plus too. easy to get to from Seattle.
We were there just after the snowstorm in Dec 2022 and Karen and Chuck were super helpful and responsive to our questions about snow removal from the driveway and walkway. highly recommend!
We enjoyed the house and location very much. We struggled with sleeping in the four bedrooms upstairs with only one bathroom upstairs. Also ruined some clothes because the washing machine only had steaming hot water available for both wash and rinse. Once we realized the water was very hot it was too late. Kitchen had good provisions for making our meals.
We stayed for a week, and two storms came through during that time. We enjoyed building a fire in the fireplace and watching the waves. The home is very comfy, and we took turns sitting in the two chaises by the windows, reading and sipping coffee. Wally the property manager and his wife were very responsive when we needed something. The owners were quick to respond to emails, too. We also had some sunny days, and we watched the birds and at least one seal swimming by. We have stayed in this area many times and will be back!
Two families - four adults and five kids - spent an amazing week at this home on Whidbey Island. The house is right on the beach, and our kids insisted on watching the sunset from the hot tub each night. The kitchen had everything you need to cook well. The house was perfect - strong recommend.
We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the sunset, walking along the beach and visiting nearby Deception Pass State park. A great place to relax and unwind.
We had a great time at this property. It is truly right on the water. Very family friendly. The location is perfect for lots of fast, outdoor family adventures. It couldn’t have worked better for our little family reunion with grandparents and kids ranging 2-8.
If you are looking for a sweet, easy-going beach cabin with amazing views, wonderful gathering spaces, a nice kitchen, and a wonderful hot tub right at the water, this is the place! We stayed 4 nights in February, and it actually snowed several days and nights while we were here, but the cabin is warm and snug, the fireplace is great, and if you were any closer to the water you would need a swimsuit! The sunsets were incredible and when the tide was out the kids ran and frolicked and dug on the beach to their hearts content. Everything was terrific and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a great beachfront experience!
This house was perfect for our two families of four. The photos are very accurate -it is right on the water. When it is high tide the water comes right up to the rocks near the house. It was beautiful especially when looking our from the hot tub! Owners were very responsive. We had a great stay and would definitely stay again!

About the host
Hosted by Chuck & Karen
Chuck and Karen have lived in Seattle, Washington for over 20 years. We love Washington, our new beach house, and the San Juan Islands. We bought the house to enjoy with our family and friends and to escape the daily demands of the city. We walk on the beach to the State Park that is less than 1/2 mile away, catch our own crab and just hang out indoors with a warm fire. We share the house with our friends and family, and now with you, and yours!
We realized that we were working too hard and wanted to slow down and enjoy life. We looked for over a year before buying our West Beach House. It has been one of the best decisions we've ever made have no regrets.
Why they chose this property
The beach and house are spectacular and we loved its proximity to Coupeville, Deception Pass, and Ebey's Landing.
What makes this property unique
From East to West, the House is nestled between the Pacific ocean and a natural wetlands preserve with plenty of eagles, beautiful birds, and otters. From North to South is the Olympic Peninsula and the gateway to Canada.
