About Angelika Bradley-Zenz
I am a retired teacher , live in Gloucestershire with my husband and son. I grew up in Germany but am now totally anglicized . I speak German fluently , French reasonably well and Italian like a waiter.
Angelika Bradley-Zenz purchased this Cottage in 1984
Why Angelika Bradley-Zenz chose Knighton
The cottage used to be our family holiday cottage . After my retirement we refurbished it completely to turn it into holiday rental. The cottage is in a lovely natural location and is ideal for relaxing ,walking , bird watching , star gazing and exploring the sites of Wales. Cefn Pawl is very popular with guests and many come again and again.
What makes this Cottage unique
If you want to be close to nature and and love tranquillity, this cottage is probably perfect. The secluded garden is a great space for kids to play in. And for the whole family there is a friendly pub which serves delicious food in the near by village.

The pictures do not do it justice, I wanted seclusion & that is exactly what we got, the veiws are breath taking from the cottage ,a beautiful retreat outside the rat race loved our time there. Thanks to Angelika for letting us stay.
Great trip away for a family wedding
Amazing rural cottage just in the Welsh boarders, surrounded by sheep and countryside. Lovely cottage and perfect for 6 of us. Great kitchen & dining area with relaxing comfy lounge. You feel like u r miles from anywhere. Fantastic little Post Office with everything you need. Thank you .
Dear Emma, Thank you very much for your review. It is always lovely to learn that our guests like the cottage as much as we do.
Comfortable cottage in need of some maintenance.
Lovely location and comfortable cottage. But it could do with a little maintenance, the shower does not drain properly and the outside light over the front door needs replacing, as does the picnic table. We enjoyed our stay.
Fantastic location. Surrounded by green fields and wildlife. Wake up to the sound of bird song and sheep.
Perfect for adults and families with children. My 3 young kids ran around (chasing sheep), trying to climb trees, attempting to fly a kite... Not a human in site but within driving distance to Beguildy and a slightly longer drive (15mins) to Knighton (nearest town). Cottage was fully equipped for self catering. Will definitely recommend to others. A must visit for anyone wanting peace, quiet, beauty and tranquility.
The only reason I didn't award a full 5 star was due to some fittings and fixtures requiring fixing (kitchen cabinet doors), better selection of board games (monopoly, snakes and ladders, drafts, chess, frustration), better family dvd selection, some of the heaters require 'bleeding' and the refuse area requires modernisation.
But please don't let these things put you off. They can be easily remedied by Angelica.
I would definitely come back again.
very cold the first night but warm enough the rest of the time.
Dear Susan , Thank you for reviewing our cottage and awarding us all those stars. I am sorry to hear that you were cold the first night, but pleased that the issue was resolved for you.
You will always be welcome at Cefn Pawl and as returning visitor you might be eligible for a discount if you remind me.
Kibnd regards Angelika
Short stay at Cefn Pawl
We decided to cut our stay short because of the long drive to our next destination. The house and bed was very comfortable.
Thank you for reviewing our cottage so promptly. I understand why you left early , but think it was a shame because the area has so much to offer. Maybe next time. You will always be welcome.
Cefn Pawl is situated high on the up on the Radnorshire hillside in its own secluded setting commanding panoramic views over protected crown commission land practically on Glendwr's Way. Near by is the historic market town of Knighton with Offa's dyke, the Spaceguard Centre, and all amenities. Presteigne where the annual Sheep music festival is held, is only down the road. Also Clun, Bishop's castle and Ludlow are within easy reach. Further afield are the red kites in the Elan Valley, the beautiful resort of Aberdovey and the very popular Borth on the coast, all within throwing distance of the Alternative Technology Centre at Machynlless. Llanidloes and the forest Hafren close to the spring of the river Severn is well worth a visit as is the quaint regional capital Llandrindod Wells, famous for its Victorian festival. Then there are numerous castles especially Powys castle, the Iron age fort near Knighton and of course Ironbidge.
