Why Jim Massey chose Roaring Gap
My company designed and built this house at about half its present size in 1966 for a couple from Winston-Salem. Years later we built them a bigger home two houses up the street, and sold this house to a couple from Florida. When it became available again in 1998, Nancy and I bought it because all the really good view lots had been built on and we had always dreamed of living on one of the spectacular view properties on Ridge Road. We gutted it down to the bare framing, doubled its size and built it all over again, finishing in 2000. We lived here for 10 years and then moved into a new home across the street in Olde Beau. Ultravista is presently for sale, but will not be shown when there is a guest in the house. LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR HOME BY VIEWING OUR MORE THAN 50 FIVE STAR REVIEWS!
What makes this Chalet unique
Having designed and built almost all the view homes on Ridge Road, Nancy and I knew that the view was good, but didn't know it was spectacular until we lived there. I didn't know that sunrises sometimes are as beautiful as the best sunset. Also, I had no idea that a full moon could be so brilliantly exciting. Watching lightning storms in the valley from up here is really special. So are fireworks in valley communities on July 4th. When the fog is lying in the valley, the mountain tops look like islands in a cotton sea. And every night when the lights come on down below, called 'valley stars' by locals, it looks like a large city. The view is different every day.

Perfect Family Reunion House
This property has truly spectacular views comparable to the Austrian Alps, though at a lower altitude. The accommodations are more sophisticated with updated bathrooms, appliances, and decor. Located in a safe residential neighborhood, two golf courses within five minutes drive, and proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway make this an especially appealing place.
Carol, I really appreciate your sterling appraisal of our Roaring Gap, NC home on top of the mountain, and having your annual family reunion here! We seem to be in a central location for families scattered over the east coast states. I hope you will see fit to come back to see us in the future. Sincerely, Jim Massey.
My family had a wonderful stay in this lovely home. There was plenty of space for all of us. Really enjoyed the views with morning coffee and had a blast playing games in the evening. Definitely would recommend this property to our friends.
Thanks, Lela, for having your family vacation at our mountain home in Roaring Gap, and for your very generous review. We hope you can come again, and look forward to seeing you then. Beat wishes to you, Jim.
This place is spectacular. The views were awesome and most of the time we were on the deck with chairs turned toward the mountain vistas. Just beautiful. Very peaceful, momma deer and fawn were in the yard. It was a quiet neighborhood. Jim came and gave us a tour and history of the house. Plenty of everything. It was great.
Thank you so much, Cathy, for your comments about your experience at our house atop Roaring Gap Mountain. I'm also glad you enjoyed the fire pit, Jacuzzi, and some of the many local attractions. I know you and your family drove many miles from different places to get together in a big, up to date home that can handle lots of people comfortably. Hope you can come again next year because there's a lot more to see. Sincerely, Jim
Beautiful home, amazing views
We spent a wonderful Father's Day weekend at Ultravista with our family. The home has magnificent views from all bedrooms and is in a great neighborhood.Jim personally came over and explained everything in detail. It is very close to Stone Mountain Falls. State park and some good vineyards.
Overall we had a very nice stay and I highly recommend this home.

Great location~ close to wineries
Fantastic views! Jim was very helpful and kind and even showed up with a bottle of wine for us. Home is large, kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need. Fireplace was cozy and we enjoyed sitting around it talking. The decks offer breathtaking views and at night you can see the city lights. The one drawback was the home is in need of a deep cleaning. There were stink bugs everywhere (on sofa, in beds, on walls, towels, blankets, etc..) and tiny ants in a few of the bathrooms. I know these bugs are harmless, but it was a little unsettling to find them on everything.
I want to thank you for taking the time to write a review of our home in Roaring Gap. We appreciate the many complimentary things you had to say, and apologize for any bugs or ants you may have encountered. Our house is regularly cleaned by our crew, and our pest control professionals work on a regular contract basis. I had them check the house and grounds, but few signs of bugs or ants were found. Maybe they left when you did.
As you may know, our home has received more than 60 reviews before yours, and they were ALL 5 STAR!
Should you consider giving us another chance to do a better job, we would welcome you back with two bottles of fine wine this time! Using your constructive criticism to improving our future guests' experience at Ultravista, I am
Very sincerely yours, Jim
