We thoroughly enjoyed the area. The canoe was great to take the kids out on the lake. Such a beautiful area, hopefully will return soon.

Charming Alaskan chalet

  • 5 of 5

Lovely chalet in the small town of Moose Pass with an incredibly friendly host. Numerous great hikes less than an hour away. Highly recommended for a week long Alaskan getaway!

Excellent location and views!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Moose Pass for a week to attend a wedding in the same area. This was our first time in Alaska and had a spectacular time. Moose Pass is about 30 min from Seward, which is a nice town to visit especially when raining like it did a lot while we were there. Otherwise, Moose Pass is very remote.

The chalet is located on a hill, with nearly 360 degree views of mountains. The chalet itself is cozy, albeit a little dated. The larger one next door which our friends rented at the same time, is quite a bit nicer. Not to say this one isn't nice. Everything was very clean and well stocked. Owners were very nice and helpful. Beds were comfortable. The hot tub is a great perk, although mosquito's were a little bothersome.

The only real complaint I would have is that the water pressure is subpar. I thought it was just because of the well, but the pressure was totally fine right next door in the larger chalet. It does smell like sulfur too, but I expect that in such a remote mountain location. They also had a cooler with 5 gal bottles of fresh water which was VERY nice to have as my wife couldn't stomach drinking the water out of the tap;) Overall, I can definitely recommend staying at one of these folk's properties without hesitation.

Beautiful winter getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We got upgraded to the Wild Rose and greatly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful home with tons of light and space! We spent our days hiking Lost Lake and exploring Seward, and our evenings cooking, playing games and hot tubbing. Our host set us up for success! Only thing we would've loved added wouldve been a way to hook our phones up to the speakers for music. Hopefully we'll have a chance to visit again!

Secluded, quiet cabin with a beautiful 180° view

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a relaxing vacation taking in the view, cooking in the well appointed kitchen, and catching up on sleep in the cozy beds. Although there are many popular trails nearby, we discovered a power line trail right behind the cabin and snowshoed with our dog below bluebird skies and enjoyed the hot tub after. All in all the stay could not have been better.

Fantasic winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I decided to take a weekend staycation and this place is breath taking even for a few long time and life long Alaskans. I've driven by the Spruce Moose Chalet signs enroute to Seward many times before and decided to give it a go. Best choice so far this year. The hot tub was perfect for superb star gazing and the glow off the mountains comforted ever moment. The morning mountain views from every room greeted each day. Truly a relaxing destination away from the noise of life.

Cozy Christmas By the Fire

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as pictured/described. The main draws for me were the hot tub and the proximity to the lake. The hot tub is right on the deck with beautiful views and the lake is just a hop skip and a jump away. The lake is currently groomed for classic cross country skiing and they even hot mop it for hockey and ice skating! The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was a wonderful getaway for the holidays!
