About the property

Beach front 3 bedroom on Playa Cocles

One of the finest locations on the Caribbean for a beach home rental, Casa del Mar is located on Cocles Beach, just down the beach from one of Costa Rica's famous surf beaches. The waters in front of Casa del Mar are wonderfully inviting.

This three bedroom, one bath Caribbean home is quite private with a comfortable outdoor deck you will enjoy as your living space. A second living area includes couches and cable TV for some downtime. The kitchen has modern appliances and fully equipped. Two bedrooms with queen beds, one with two twins, Internet as well.

The beach is just a few steps away and there's an outdoor shower as well to clean off the sand on your way back.

Barely visible from the main road that runs along the Caribbean Coast, great restaurants within walking distance and Pri Pri Grocery store nearby make this a wonderful beach vacation home. Laundry service available next door, La Cameleon Hotel just across the street for a wonderful dining experience and La Pecora Negra Fine Italian Dining close as well.

About David Fair

Having lived in the area for several years and worked for Banana Azul Hotel, I am excited to branch off into Vacation Home Rentals. Having moved here from the mountains of Colorado, many many years, I have found the Caribbean to be an amazing place here in beautiful Costa Rica....the culture, the food, the locals and the expats....and the beaches are as pristine as anyplace I have ever been.

David Fair purchased this house in 2011

What makes this house unique

Having so few beach front properties here on the Caribbean, this remodeled Caribbean Style home offers amenities not available in the area.

Lovely vacation paradise!

You cannot find a better spot in the Puerto Viejo area to stay at than this listing. David was a wonderful property manager and very helpful in the ways of Costa Rican life. This spot was away from the hubbub of the main town, but still within biking distance - and there is a bike shop and lovely pastry shop 2 doors down.

I cannot wait to go back and see the monkeys and the sloths hanging in the trees in the backyard.

The Most Perfect Cabina by the Sea EVER

  • 5 of 5

I spent the month of January )with some friends joining me for a week). I wouldn't know where to start with how much I enjoyed this piece of heaven so I will just start with...this place is PERFECT. You can walk for miles on the beach--and it is a beautiful beach. You barely need to leave the deck--I spent hours in the hammock and even the view from the kitchen while cooking is breathtaking (wake up and watch the waves from the master bedroom). It's peaceful--you, the sloths, some howler monkeys, giant blue butterflies and cute lizards. The location is prime--you can walk to one of the best restaurants in Costa Rica (Pecora Negra), grab a smoothie or a great pizza at Casa del Pan, or eat a traditional Costan Rican meal at La Nena. You can even stock up on fruit or patis by literally walking out your back door. Rent a bike from Jose at the tailor shop 2 doors down and you can explore Puerto Viejo, Punta Uva (love this beach for swimming, especially with kids) or head to Manzanillo. You can even have your hair braided or get a pedicure at Celia's next door. After all my exploring, everything I needed was within 1/2 mile. The house is well appointed, has A/C if needed, the internet is 4G, but you will spend most of your time on the outside patio which is HUGE. David and Celia are wonderful hosts!! Anything I needed from extra towels to advice instantly materialized. If you want to feel like you live on the beach this is the place. I feel incredibly lucky that I found it and can't wait to return!

A Month In Paradise

  • 4 of 5

we spent one month at this lovely place directly in front of beautiful beach. We woke up in the morning - after Yoga on the deck, walked into the sea .Great outdoor living space - even if it rains , nice rocking chairs on the decking to chill and watch the sea or the wildlife in the garden - lots of beautiful birds, lizards, agouti.......

Compact inside space, nice rooms and comfortable beds.very safe area.Easy access to town,(max $4 taxi ride even late at night) but far enough for peace and quiet.

David is a great guy, any issues were dealt with promptly and he is very knowledgable of the area and helped us with any questions we had.

Fantastic place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation staying at this lovely little house in Cocles. It is close to everything you might need but away from the bustle of Playa Viejo. With three bedrooms, there was plenty of room for us to spread out. The property truly is right on the beach, just a few steps from the house to the sand. David is an absolutely fantastic property manager. Definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable house.

Perfect in Every Way!

  • 5 of 5

I spent 5 nights at Casa Del Mar with my 20 year old niece, my 3 year old daughter, and our friend with her son who is 1.5 years old. It couldn't have been more perfect - David was super helpful and easy to contact if needed, the house is charming and comfortable, and it was great to have the beach right there in front of us - especially with young kids! The house layout is great and the bedrooms were very quiet despite my friend's little one waking each day at 4:00 am (walls are well-insulated so he never woke the rest of us up)! It was so quiet at night for sleeping and several nights we got to listen to the tropical rain while we slept. The kids loved hunting for cool animals in the garden and exploring (leafcutter ants, huge grasshoppers, geckos, etc.) The huge patio area has comfortable seating and the kids were able to use their toddler bikes there to their hearts content. There is a low key beach lounge next door which is part of Le Chameleon Hotel, and we hung out there one day to have some drinks and use their beach loungers while the kids played. Another day we rented bikes and rode around to beaches, and walked up and down the beautiful beach just letting the kids run. There is a grocery store nearby to get needed items for meals and you stay (we had a car, but if you're in shape you could probably ride a bike there). One of the best vacations we've had in a long time, we really got lucky we chose this house! Thanks David!
