About Marilyn

In 1992, I moved from Long Beach, Ca. to Idyllwild where I purchased an Inn right in the heart of the village. After 12 years of being an innkeeper, I retired from this lifestyle and now work in hospitality part-time, along w/ managing two properties in town. I now can devote more time to hiking and exploring these

beautiful mountains w/ my friends.

Marilyn purchased this house in 1992

Why Marilyn chose Idyllwild

I am very proud to be associated with this property and

am grateful to have the opportunity to manage the 'Old

Oak Tree' cabin. I love the beauty and solitude of

Idyllwild and this cabin represents both to me.

What makes this house unique

One can leave the world behind when entering the cozy

ambiance of this property. This cabin lends itself to

either just r & r time or used as a haven for hiking, shopping or a base for explorations.

Property was very nice, everything clean and well taken care of, close to town and restaurants.

Trip was rescheduled in October due to a forest fire that was not impacting the town of Idyllwild. We liked our stay very much and looking forward to our return trip.

Home-style comfort

  • 5 of 5

This adorable house-in-the-woods was the perfect weekend escape location for our family of four, including two kids under 6. You feel like the special guest in the home of a relative. The house was well stocked (no annoying runs to the store when you discover the rental comes with only one trash bag, a situation we've had elsewhere). King bed in main bedroom was nice and firm, a must for me with a bad back. From the deck to the living room every part of the house invites you to snuggle in.

Great weekend escape!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from an extended weekend in Idyllwild. We stayed at Old Oak Tree! The property and amenities were fantastic! So many little details to make us feel so welcome.....from the filled water bowl for our pup on arrival to the chocolate mints left on the table! The kitchen was extremely well stocked, and if we forgot anything at all, it was there! We spent many hours on the wonderful deck watching our Rory explore the large fenced back yard! Thank you, Marilyn, for making everything so easy and for all of your 5-Star extras in the property. We can't wait to return!

My whole family loved our stay in this lovely home. It's spacious, very well-furnished, very comfortable, and extremely close to town, and to some nice hiking at the park around the corner. Highly recommended!

A perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We went to Marilyn’s cabin to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We brought our dogs along and his best friend from Tucson joined us for the weekend. We couldn’t have been more comfortable. The house was clean and welcoming. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and we enjoyed staying in at night to eat, watch a movie and play Scrabble. I found the little market to be surprisingly complete. During the days we loved being able to walk to town and explore the shops and restaurants. Our dogs especially enjoyed meeting the mayor. We also discovered how close we were to hiking trails and hiked to the Nature Center. The huge fenced yard was a dream come true for the dogs! We are hoping to return to Marilyn’s cabin soon.

Owner's Response: It pleases me to know how much you enjoyed your visit to the cabin and Idyllwild. And what a bonus it was for you that you got to meet our doggie Mayor, 'Max'. He's our ambassador and we're very proud of the job he's doing. Hopefully, you and your family will return soon to experience more of our magical town. Marilyn

Idyllwild is on the map as '100 best art gallery towns in the USA'. Our village is also known for the excellent

variety of restaurants, from mellow fine dining to an assortment of casual cafes to satisfy every palate. A coffee house, wine bistro and 'health-full' cuisine are also good choices. For those into alternative health,

we have massage therapists, acupuncture, pilates and a yoga studio. Within a short walk from the house is an

obstacle course by Strawberry creek, adjacent to a kiddie playground. Up and coming events include: Memorial Day festivities; July 4th parade; Lemon Lily & Blue Grass Festival in mid July; Jazz Fest the last weekend in August; garage sales over Labor

Day; and Wine Walk in Oct. For those movie buffs, there's a great theater in the middle of the village that shows 1st rate films and also rents videos.
