In 1992, I moved from Long Beach, Ca. to Idyllwild where I purchased an Inn right in the heart of the village. After 12 years of being an innkeeper, I retired from this lifestyle and now work in hospitality part-time, along w/ managing two properties in town. I now can devote more time to hiking and exploring these
beautiful mountains w/ my friends.
Marilyn purchased this house in 1992
I am very proud to be associated with this property and
am grateful to have the opportunity to manage the 'Old
Oak Tree' cabin. I love the beauty and solitude of
Idyllwild and this cabin represents both to me.
One can leave the world behind when entering the cozy
ambiance of this property. This cabin lends itself to
either just r & r time or used as a haven for hiking, shopping or a base for explorations.
My wife and I spent two nights at this nice house in Idyllwild! The house was very clean on arrival and was easy to find.
We walked into town, it takes about 10 minutes. We enjoyed the many restaurants and shops.
You need to check out El Buen Cacao, Gastrognome and Tommy's.
We are definitely coming back for some hiking, good food and relaxation!!
We are a family of 4 with a dog that likes to run. This property was perfect for us! My boys each got their own bed and their own bathroom. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, etc. What made this location particularly suitable to us was the large, fenced-in back yard. I could let our dog roam around or I had plenty of room to throw tennis balls for him. We enjoyed watching the birds from the deck under the tall pine trees. And the Idyllwild town center was just a few minutes away on foot. Great location, great weekend, great experience. When we come back to Idyllwild, we will stay here.
OMG! We just got home from staying @ "Old Oak Tree" Cabin in Idyllwild & can't say enough, what a wonderful time we had there! Marilyn was such an excellent host /contact. She was more than accommodating, she was very pleasant throughout the whole process. The cabin was awesome! Fully loaded w/all the comforts of a home. I was with my sister & her fiance & they've already booked this unit for June. Marilyn, thank u for everything!!! We definitely will be back. Have a wonderful week! Yolanda, Chris & Rocky
Everything was ideal - the place was spotless, had more amenities than I ever imagined for place in the mountains and was just a 5 minute walk to town.
Kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and utensils, and the pantry has so much as far as basics. The house was spotless and all info (wi-fi, remotes, tourist-y stuff) was laid out right as we got in.
No complaints or dissatisfaction - this place exceeded every expectation I had!
hi, what a lovely place to stay! roomy, comfy, all the necessities on hand. gated backyard for toddlers. nice deck for adults to relax on. Thoughtful touches like nightlights in every room and a boiling water tap. Also great location can walk to state park and village. LOVED IT!
Oak Cabin is amazing for everyone who is looking to spend a relaxing weekend. Me, my husband and 2 of our doggies had a wonderful time there. The cabin is so cozy, comfy and clean. It has everything you need, so you feel "home away from home". Our doggies enjoyed a big backyard, and tons of walking trails close by. The cabin location is great: State park is right around the corner, Village with great restaurants and shops is about 10 min walk, nice mountain trails are within the short drive. We hiked Devil Slide Trail with amazing views, recommend this to hikers and nature lovers. Marilyn was very pleasant to deal with and very welcoming. We highly recommend this place, you will have a wonderful time. We are looking forward to be back and refer the cabin to our friends. Thank you!
Idyllwild is on the map as '100 best art gallery towns in the USA'. Our village is also known for the excellent
variety of restaurants, from mellow fine dining to an assortment of casual cafes to satisfy every palate. A coffee house, wine bistro and 'health-full' cuisine are also good choices. For those into alternative health,
we have massage therapists, acupuncture, pilates and a yoga studio. Within a short walk from the house is an
obstacle course by Strawberry creek, adjacent to a kiddie playground. Up and coming events include: Memorial Day festivities; July 4th parade; Lemon Lily & Blue Grass Festival in mid July; Jazz Fest the last weekend in August; garage sales over Labor
Day; and Wine Walk in Oct. For those movie buffs, there's a great theater in the middle of the village that shows 1st rate films and also rents videos.
