Why Bruce Johnson chose Algiers

This is a Raised 'Shotgun' Double built in 1929, completely renovated in 2005-2006. It is located in historic Algiers Point, the second oldest settlement in New Orleans. It was built by a lumber yard owner. The walls are 6 inches thick & reinforced diagonally. The 2006 renovation opened the home to one living area upstairs & one downstairs.

What makes this house unique

My home is an economical alternative to the French Quarter, and yet is just a four block walk or drive to the Algiers/Canal Street Car/Passenger Ferry. Historic Algiers Point is a quiet alternative to the fast French Quarter pace, and yet close enough to enjoy the full benefits of the French Quarter and all of New Orleans.

Good stay in Algiers Point

This was a well appointed home and convenient to the Algiers Ferry which gets you right in the heart of NOLA in about 5 minutes ($2 each way!). All the essentials were available plus extra bedding. The AC was nice and strong, which was a good contrast to the outside humidity. I did have a few concerns which I mentioned to Bruce as we were leaving and he was very attentive to resolving. I would stay here again for the good price and adorable neighborhood. I loved Algiers Point. For any tall person reading this review - this is a basement apartment with lower ceilings. That being said, my sisters and I are all tall and it was fine. If you happen to be staying there on a Friday night, the closest bar to the house has a guy that comes and makes the most amazing food. Seriously... it is delicious!!

Great place to stay.

Me and my family had a wonderful stay. We were able to bring the dogs and we loved the neighborhood and the ferry ride over to the other side of New Orleans. Bruce was great to work with.

A Quiet Retreat in NOLA

Our family (2 adults, teenaged son and dog) was fortunate to find this apartment on our short stay in NOLA. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and convenient. We particularly enjoyed the Algiers Point neighborhood, it oozes with New Orleans charm and yet is quiet and family friendly. The major sites are easily accessed from the ferry.

Really enjoyed out stay!!

House was very nice, clean and affordable. So much better than staying in a hotel in NOLA. Neighborhood had a southern charm feeling to it. House was stocked with everything we needed. Great location.. kids park one house down, café just around the corner, ferry just 2 blocks away. Can't wait to come back!

Great weekend

VERY NICE HOME. So much better than staying in a hotel in New Orleans. Rental was very easy to book, check in and out. Most of everything you need is there. Very quiet and quaint neighborhood. We walked, biked, garage sale'd and met very kind southern friendly people along the way. The ferry to New Orleans is just a few blocks. Theres a park just one house down & a coffee shop/café just around the corner. Will definitely return. Highly recommended!!
