Weekends or weeks, work retreat or romantic refuge, ‘Topl’ In’ offers new conveniences in a natural setting. The ‘Topl’ In’ is a newly-built family owned Cottage that rests in a deep valley formed by the fresh-water stream called Big Roaring Creek. Its location in Mayberry Township offers visitors quiet seclusion with easy access to cultural amenities. This is a perfect getaway – a place where you can breathe in deep and break out of life’s daily obligations. We built this place to enjoy ourselves and we’re sharing its character and conveniences just enough to help fund its upkeep.
The cottage is conveniently located just five miles from Knoebel’s Amusement Resort in Elysburg, PA, and seven miles from nearby Danville, PA. State Parks, like R.B Winter (Half-Way Dam), Hickory Run and Rickett's Glen are short drives away. Shikellamy State Park and Marina is minutes away so bring your boat! The Bloomsburg Fairgrounds offer events year-round. Several quality gun clubs, including the Valley Gun and Country Club in Elysburg is also nearby. Golf courses are plentiful and the Buckhorn Mall and surrounding shopping area is close. Historical enthusiasts can explore nearby covered bridges, take a tour in an Anthracite coal mine, visit the historic Jim Thorpe or just enjoy the incredible scenic surroundings.
But you need not get in the car again once you’re there! Brings some old sneakers that you can wear in the creek – find a spot to take a dip, cast your fishing line or catch minnows and crayfish with your kids. It’s a great place for biking! You can hike the local wooded hillsides and huddle around the fire-pit as the evening closes into a crisp night. Sleep to the sound of crickets and rushing water.
The gas-fireplace in the center of the Great-room can be just as enjoyable as the fire-pit outside. A fully equipped kitchen adjacent a large dining area and two living-room spaces brings family members together and still provides room to escape. The Cottage is handicapped accessible with an exterior ramp up to the main level and an easily navigable full-bathroom. There are two half-baths. Even if its drizzling outside you can breath the fresh air and do some grilling on the giant patio on the ground level.
The cottage has three bedrooms a full bath with a low-step shower and two half-baths. One of the half-baths is in the laundry/utility room.
This is rental property provides family vacation accommodations; it cannot be used as an event destination or site for a large gathering.
Three siblings share this great piece of property. Two live locally.
Our parents bought our cottage early on in their marriage and our father, single-handedly constructed the building that was ruined in the 2011 flood. Our father is gone now too but the memories we made and still make there will always be with us.
The property was clean and well equipped. Very spacious too. Loved the open concept.
The owners thought of everything to help you enjoy your stay. We really appreciated the binder that had directions to the area attractions and other information.
Very courteous and thoughtful. I would highly recommend this property and can't wait to stay again.
The cottage is beautiful and the creek out back is serene. The outside seating area and fire pit were enjoyed by all. The cottage owners were on top of all our needs and, every room had fresh flowers. This is a great place to unplug and unwind with the bonus of modern convenience. We went to Rickett's Glen state park for climbing around waterfalls, Penn's Caves, for a boat tour under the caves, Antique shopping and, to all the other shops in Danville.
With over 10 years of hospitality experience, much of that with a luxury chain, I tend to be critical when I travel. I can honestly say there isn't a thing I would change about Topl' Inn. Allen was so great when booking, answering all of my questions quickly and thoroughly. I was really impressed that Donna left us a cute basket of produce in the kitchen and fresh flowers in every room. My daughter loved the swing, the VHS tapes in her room, and of course making s'mores by the fire. This was the perfect location for a peaceful retreat and only a few minutes from Knoebels. We also visited the Red Deer Farm and picked up some venison, which I did not know about but Donna had left a brochure and directions. The house was gorgeous and super clean. We loved sitting on the deck at night and listening to the creek babble. I highly recommend staying here - it's amazing!!!
This was our second year we have stayed in the cottage. It was just as beautiful the second time around. We love the swings, fire pit and the view. Feels like home!
Topl'in' Creekside is a beautiful, modern cottage in a splendid, remote setting. It was perfect for our family gathering. The relaxing sound of water flowing past greeted us each morning and accompanied our evenings, sitting on the deck and around the campfire.
We were 5 adults and 1 child, with plenty of bedroom space for us all. The kitchen is totally equipped for family stays. We carried in our food and beverages and were ready for the week.
In our 7-day stay we took advantage of the many interesting sights in the area:
- of course we went to Knobles 3 days;
- a 1/2 day trip to Reptiland Zoo in Allenwood, PA (a 40 minute drive);
- a full day to explore Pioneer Coal Mine in Ashland, PA, enjoyed a great lunch at Nino's Pizza in Hegins, and found some tasty vintages at Red Shale Ridge Winery.
The days we stayed at the cottage and enjoyed quiet walks, bike rides and explored the creek were among the best in the week.
We brought bikes and found a relatively easy 3-mile one-way ride along the Susquehanna River that we took a couple times (down Sharp Ridge, right (east) on Susquehanna Road for 1/2 mile, then left on Susque View till it dead-ends).
Having stayed at Knobles campground many times in the past, we are happy to have found a great, new place to stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting your lovely cottage. It was so relaxing on the deck listening to the stream! We visited Knoebels Amusement Park very close by, attended a concert at Spy Glass Ridge Winery, and also enjoyed fishing, kayaking and tubing in the creek. Loved cooking in the well-equipped kitchen! Donna was very helpful anytime we had a question or concern. We couldn't have found a finer spot to stay! Many thanks for allowing us to share your cottage.

Our cottage is surrounded by a natural environment - what makes the place fantastic sometimes also make it inconvenient. Insects and animals share the valley with us and sometimes encroach on our space. Aside from infestations, we will do what we can to curtail any nuisance but these elements are not within our control and visitors should be aware of the natural circumstances.
