This beautiful, spacious four bedroom, two bathroom log cabin has all the modern amenities and gorgeous mountain views from every room. The house sits nearly on top of the mountain on 3 acres in the national forest with no neighbors in sight. There is a stream running along the bottom of the mountain.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, including all small and large appliances, utensils, pots, dishes, etc.
The home has a whole house water filtration system with reverse osmosis in the kitchen. All linens are provided. The home has beautifully landscaped yards and gardens and the hummingbird feeders on the deck will provide an endless trail of birds if you keep them filled.
This is a great place for a few friends or a family to gather for rest and relaxation or for the many outdoor activities in the area including hiking, white-water rafting, four wheeling, snow shoeing, skiing, etc.
St. Mary's Glacier sits at the end of Fall River Road - 5 miles from the home. There is snow year-round at the glacier and a gorgeous waterfall.
My husband and I split our time between this home in Colorado and a home in Houston, where two of our children live. We are both professionals and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this amazing retreat.
Leslie Hager purchased this house in 2007
When we were choosing a property, we wanted to live halfway between Lakewood and the ski slopes. This home was easily accessible from the highway and remote enough to provide the rest and relaxation we wanted.
The home is remote but within a few minutes of I-70. It is located in Arapahoe National Forest, so there are no neighbors nearby. The views are better than any we had ever seen. The town of Idaho Springs in 6 miles away and has a grocery store, bars, restaurants, parks, and a gold mine that is now open for tours. There is also a glacier approximately 5 miles away, where you can enjoy hiking, sledding, and show shoeing.
This is a awesome property tucked gently against a mountain with spectacular views. Takes you back to a time when the Rocky Mounatins where just being dicovered and you will feel like Lewis and Clark.
It's far enough up the mountain to give you the feeling of a remote wilderness log cabin. But, close enough to town if you need supplies, great shopping or just a dinner with the friendly locals. Prefectly located to near by Denver and other mounatin passes with absolutly breathtaking views.
Leslie and Steve, the owners of this private residence are experts at preparing guests for this one in a lifetime adventure. The leasing process at first may seem very detailed. But, thanks to Steve's, knowledge of thier property and situational awareness, we were prepared for the first winter snow. So, I suggest you trust his process because it allowed us to have our best trip eve! We would highly reccomend this mountain home for couples or large families who need to reconnect with each other while surrounded by the great outdoors.
We truly enjoyed staying in this home and the hospitality of the homeowners made us feel very welcome, informed about the house and the area. The photos of the interior are very accurate and the kitchen is very well equipped and fun to cook in. Every window really has a gorgeous view. I don't think there is any photo that could capture the beauty of the outdoor views. There are sweeping views of the neighboring mountains. In front of the deck are several beautiful large pine trees where the hummingbirds hang out. They make wonderful little noises and dart back and forth between the trees and the feeders. We liked the quiet seclusion of the house and its close proximity to shopping in Idaho Springs. The surrounding area is quite beautiful. St. Mary's Glacier is a must do! We would recommend a 4wd car if you are not used to driving on challenging roads. We come from a very flat area and felt it helped us feel more confident navigating the mountain roads. We would rent this property again and recommend it to friends.
We had a great week in this wonderful cabin. It was clean, well stocked, and near many fun activities. We rode horses, hiked up to nearby St. Mary's Glacier, drove to Vail for a gondola ride and a hike on Vail Mountain, and we dined in Empire and nearby Idaho Springs. I highly recommend this home for a great vacation.
We had a great time here. The home was just as described. It was an amazing place to relax and recharge! We can't wait until our next visit.
Place was everything plus some. There were 4 cousins all male and we had a blast. I definitely think the place is for everyone. Kids, adults, couples, and friends. We got pounder with snow and still was such an adventure. I highly recommend this home to anyone. I'll definitely be back.
Our family enjoyed this home so very very much!! The property and scenery are breathtakingly beautiful. The home is warm and welcoming with everything that we needed including TV for games, movies for all ages and watching our own GoPro video footage, all was readily available! The perfect place for romance or family! Recommended for any season, but beautiful during the Winter and Spring!
Because the house sits in the national forest, you can literally walk out the back door and hike as far as you want. You can also drive 5 miles to St. Mary's Glacier, where you can hike or sled year round and snow shoe in the winter. Driving Fall River Road as you head to the home, you will see spectacular views and the fall brings incredible sights as the aspens change.
