About Leslie Hager

My husband and I split our time between this home in Colorado and a home in Houston, where two of our children live. We are both professionals and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this amazing retreat.

Leslie Hager purchased this house in 2007

Why Leslie Hager chose Idaho Springs

When we were choosing a property, we wanted to live halfway between Lakewood and the ski slopes. This home was easily accessible from the highway and remote enough to provide the rest and relaxation we wanted.

What makes this house unique

The home is remote but within a few minutes of I-70. It is located in Arapahoe National Forest, so there are no neighbors nearby. The views are better than any we had ever seen. The town of Idaho Springs is 6 miles away and has a grocery store, bars, restaurants, parks, and a gold mine that is now open for tours. There is also a glacier approximately 5 miles away, where you can enjoy hiking, sledding, and snow shoeing.

Big Cabin in the Woods was wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My family of six recently stayed at this lovely home for a 5 night stay and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The home itself is very spacious and gave us all our own privacy but provided great gathering areas also. We loved the deck with the hummingbirds and the great hot tub overlooking the forests. The hot tub was a definite hot spot in the evenings! Idaho Springs has a very nice proximity to many great recreational activities, so there was plenty for us to do also! We loved the house and its location!

Lovely views with the sound of rushing water below:)

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at Big Cabin in the woods. We had our morning coffee on the deck, with spectacular wooded views and our own private hummingbird show! The kids also enjoyed regular visits from the chipmunks on the side steps. We chose this location due to its proximity to Denver, as well as easy access to Boulder and Fort Colllins. We took the owner's recommendation and hiked to St Mary's Glacier which was absolutely beautiful. We also drove up to Mount Evans (not for those with a fear of heights and there are no guardrails!) We were in Colorado to visit CU and CSU so the location was perfect. We also found lots to do in Idaho Springs, including shopping and zip lining.

The home itself was clean. The beds were very comfortable and the laundry was a nice convenience. The kitchen was well stocked with paper towels, soap, morning coffee and fresh fruit. The bathrooms also were clean and well stocked with shampoo, towels and soaps.

We would definitely stay here again. The only negative was the driveway up to the house is just wide enough for one vehicle, and there are some sharp turns, and it's really high up! Worth it, though, for the reward you find at the top!

The pictures do not do this property justice. Simply stunning!!!

The Hager's have a beautiful home in the hills, just miles from Glacier Lake, Mt. Evans, Georgetown, and so many historic towns, beautiful views, and awesome activities. They went out of their way to provide us with suggestions, for things to do, during our stay. While we made sure to take them up on as many of their suggested hikes, views, and other activities, we will need to return a few more times to truly see everything the area has to offer. Thank you Steve. We very much enjoyed the stay and hope to visit again some time soon!

Beautiful Home in a GREAT Location

  • 5 of 5

A great mountain retreat whether your looking for a quiet and serene place to unplug or just a place to relax after one of the many adventures the local area has to offer. Spacious and comfortable describes the home but location provides the opportunities. Horseback riding, river rafting, hiking (St. Mary's Glacier is simply a piece of heaven on earth), fine dining and or shopping.... it's all so very close.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and looking forward to our next visit. Many thanks to Steve and Leslie for sharing their home.

Felt like a dream!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was truly one of the most memorable weekends ever. The location of this beautiful house is nestled in such a special place. Leslie and Steve (the owners of this cabin) are so nice and extremely helpful hosts. They went out of their way to give us suggestions/advice about places around the area. They gave us tips about hiking St. Mary's Glacier that most hikers don't know about. The best part, besides sitting in the hot tub and staring at the millions of stars in the sky at night, is that St. Mary's Glacier is only a few minutes drive from the cabin! When we arrived at the house, it already felt like home. Extremely clean, refreshing and relaxing. Every room had a heavenly view and was such a great way to start the day. If you're looking at other houses, stop. It doesn't get any better than this. Leslie and Steve - thank you so much for sharing this piece of heaven with me and my friends! Can't wait to come back again.

Amazing location, stellar views, cozy but spacious retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay so much we can't wait to book again! We visited at the end of May but still were able to enjoy the snow! The first 3 days felt like winter, the last 5 were like early spring so we really got to enjoy the best of the beautiful snow and then the warmer weather activities in the area. This lovely cabin is very comfortable for a family get away and it is close to MANY activities.... although just relaxing on the deck or in the hot tub is quite nice too!
