About Leslie Hager
My husband and I split our time between this home in Colorado and a home in Houston, where two of our children live. We are both professionals and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this amazing retreat.
Leslie Hager purchased this House in 2007
Why Leslie Hager chose Idaho Springs
When we were choosing a property, we wanted to live halfway between Lakewood and the ski slopes. This home was easily accessible from the highway and remote enough to provide the rest and relaxation we wanted.
What makes this House unique
The home is remote but within a few minutes of I-70. It is located in Arapahoe National Forest, so there are no neighbors nearby. The views are better than any we had ever seen. The town of Idaho Springs is 6 miles away and has a grocery store, bars, restaurants, parks, and a gold mine that is now open for tours. There is also a glacier approximately 5 miles away, where you can enjoy hiking, sledding, and snow shoeing.

Lovely home with a beautiful view
We had a great time at this beautiful home in Idaho Springs. I loved how there were plenty of towels and a fully stocked kitchen. We had a lot of fun bonding over board games and cooking meals. The breathtaking view from the home was our favorite part! The owners were great and responsive as well.
One word of advice, the house is literally on the side of a mountain! So make sure you know that driving up there during snowstorms is difficult (so check the weather for your stay). It’s not paved and has no railing. We had to walk up the mountain a few times with all our stuff!
Beautiful cabin with views
This cabin is set on the side of a mountain with some beautiful views. After enjoying the outdoors, this place is great to retreat and relax. Steven and Leslie were very good with communication and offering insight on activities nearby.
Amazing views, amazing cabin
We stayed at this cabin to take our two young sons on their first Colorado ski trip. What a beautiful cabin!!! The views are unbelievable, the facilities are perfect, there is nothing more you could ask for. The evening dips in the hot tub under the stars was a blessing after a long day on the slopes. You are a short 20-30mins from Loveland Ski area if looking for the nearest lifts (perfect place for first timers, or seasoned skiers/snowboarders). There is plenty to do in the area, but the cabin is comfy and entertaining if you decide to stay indoors for the day. I hope to stay here again on our next CO trip. Thank you, Leslie & Steve, for opening up your wonderful home to our family.
Everything we dreamed it would be
Incredible house, awesome, accomodating hosts, my pals and I had a lovely time here. We rented this place last minute as a place for a college buddy reunion/snowboarding trip and this place exceeded expectations in every way. Beautiful hiking in the backyard and beyond, insane views and extremely detailed guides on the area for guests. Steve and Leslie are rental pros and this is clearly not their first rodeo.
Only thing that could be improved is the notes on the hot tub, as we were unable to find any of the chemical checking papers, or instructions on how to keep the hot tub in perfect condition, but we wound up being fine without them. No rashes or anything to report, but would have been nice to know before jumping in blind.
Something to note, during the winter the road into the neighborhood is quite steep and a very bumpy ride. If its covered in snow its pretty much a no-go for any car that has anything sub 4 wheel drive. My little subaru's AWD averaged about a 50% success rate after the driveway got blanketed. Luckily there is a place you can park at the bottom of the hairy part, just requires a bit of a hike up to the house.
Other than those things our time was just splendid and I cannot more highly recommend.
Cozy Cabin with spectacular views!
We can't say enough about the great experience we had at Leslie & Steve's cabin in the mountains! Everything we would need and more was waiting for us on arrival. Our mini-vacay was spent with our 2 young grandsons and they were right at home with the rest of us. I really enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. After spending the days out in the Colorado cold, we relaxed in the hot tub under the stars or sat by the fire. When it wasn't snowing, we grilled outdoors, too! The cabin was neat, clean and well-maintained. Steve's gracious directions and follow-up made any questions a breeze. As fellow cabin owners on HomeAway, we are rather picky when we travel. Take our word when we say this cabin was 5 STARS!
Incredible, great location and wonderful hosts. Would recommend this property to anyone from Boulder or Denver who wants a mountain getaway, but doesn't want to deal with a long commute or crowds. The star gazing was sensational and patio/hot tub views are not to be missed.
Because the house sits in the national forest, you can literally walk out the back door and hike as far as you want. You can also drive 5 miles to St. Mary's Glacier, where you can hike or sled year round and snow shoe in the winter. Driving Fall River Road as you head to the home, you will see spectacular views and the fall brings incredible sights as the aspens change.
