We enjoyed our week in the UP in Big Bay. Dave gave us great suggestions if we were doubtful on how best to spend our time. The weather was fantastic and we will always look back at this vacation as a wonderful one! I am grateful that Dave shares his place so others can enjoy it!

Kristen was local to provide assistance if needed. She arranged the arrival so it ran smoothly and reassured us that she was minutes away if a problem arose that might require her help. We wouldn't think twice about going again, there is so many beautiful sites to see and explore.

Perfect!! I do not have one negative comment as I couldn't have asked for a more inviting home.

  • 5 of 5

From reserving to checking out, the owner Dave and Property Manager Kristen couldn't have made it easier. I've been to the UP one to two times a year in the last 15 years and this is one trip that will stand out due to the location of the retreat and the comforts it furnished us. It was a great home to come back to in the evenings after fishing numerous streams and lakes, hiking, and day road trips (saw our first bobcat on one of these road trips!!!) The kitchen is stocked with anything you may need to cook your meals, loved this! Suggestion.....Dead River Coffee in Marquette has the best whole bean and ground coffee in the state of Michigan, be sure to grab some while getting your groceries :) The retreats location makes it perfect to get to anywhere without being on the road for what sometimes can feel like forever in the UP. I would suggest the Big Bay retreat to anyone looking to get away. We will definitely be staying again before our move to Washington and will most likely return when visiting Michigan in the future.

Wonderful place to relax and unwind

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to escape the stress of work and get away from it all. What a perfect place to do just that. The cabin was exceptionally clean and comfortable (the beds were great. No morning back pain like I've experienced elsewhere) and you can't beat the views. We loved the location as well. There is great hiking and fishing nearby but it's not too far to take a day trip to must-sees in the UP like the falls and pictures rocks. There are also yummy restaurants in Marquette if you feel like getting out one night (You probably won't. The sunsets and fireplace are so inviting, you'll have a hard time justifying an evening out). Dave answered our questions quickly and his property manager, Kristin, was very helpful as well. Both are very friendly and work to make your stay as good as it can be. In a nutshell, you won't regret a stay in Dave's cabin!

We had a great time. Manager was right there if we had any issues. It was absolutely beautiful. The telescope was awesome. Well stocked with everything you would need. We hiked nearby and checked out the lighthouse. Gorgeous views. Visited town and ate dinner. Highly recommend this home. Simply breathtaking. We would love to visit again in the summer.

New Year's Family Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

Our family greatly enjoyed our retreat at Big Bay. The location is beautiful - right on the lake. The waves (despite the end of December) were wonderful to listen to while falling asleep. The home is spacious (for our group of 6), quite comfortable and well maintained. We had everything we could have needed. Dave was very helpful with our reservation, timely and considerate. We did get a change to get out hiking and snowshoeing. There wasn't a ton of snow, but enough to enjoy the area. The fireplace was a great addition on the windy days. Thank you for making your beautiful home available. If we return to the UP, we would definitely consider a stay at Big Bay!!!
