Amazingly tranquil and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We were in Big Bay the week of 6/25/18 and had previously stayed at Dave’s cabin in 2015. The cabin was as we remembered it. It is beautifully situated on the shores of Big Bay with excellent views of the bay and forested shoreline. The cabin is perfectly located to take full advantage of kayaking, hiking & access to Marquette. We took advantage of visiting Little Presque Isle Park to kayak the shoreline and could not recommend it enough. The different contrasting scenery, sandy shores transitioning to rocky island and dramatic cliffs were stunning. I would highly recommend renting this cabin to anyone interested in insuring they had the best time possible while vacationing in the UP.

Very nice home...description of the property and amenities are as advertised

  • 4 of 5

5 stars for the property and amenities. Really nice home on a very pretty cove of Lake Superior. With Marquette only about a 35 min drive away, you can bounce between rural and urban fairly quickly. So why 4 stars... I did want to draw attention to anyone wanting to stay in Big Bay exclusively....the Black flies were very, very active during our stay. With all the forest around, it was near impossible to enjoy the beach near the property or even walking around outside the home without getting attacked almost instantly. Bug spray...no matter how “deep woods” it claimed did not detract from their onslaught. This is not the owners fault or anyone’s fault, just wanted to be known that if they are active, it does limit your outdoor activities on this beautiful property unless you cover up. And being it was 90 degrees for some days, that is the last thing you wanted to do...so just be mindful of this potential problem. Maybe being from SE Michigan I am over-exaggerating the UP experience, but it was real and limited our outdoor plans.

Once again, Dave and Kristin and the home, 5 stars! Very nice place!

Beautiful house—comfortable—great views and amazing sunsets.

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful house and nicely sized for a couple on their own or with a pair of friends. Easy drives to good hiking, Marquette, and sand beaches (Little Presque Isle). Area immediately surrounding house has a lot of neighbors, but is low traffic and quiet, good for runners if you are okay with running on the side of the road (dirt and paved). Not the most scenic neighborhood, but that’s what the bay is for.

Perfect. Most beautiful, quietest, best ever

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is gorgeous. The view from the living area is wonderful. The deck is spacious and comfortable. The view out from the upper bedroom deck is what you want to wake up to.

The folks in the village, about three miles out, were terrific. The Thunder Bay Inn (where much of ANATOMY OF A MURDER was filmed), and the Lumberjack Tavern (where the actual shooting took place back in the early 1950s) are terrific places to talk with locals, who seem very happy to have you there. The food is terrific in the village, everywhere we ate.

Good beds. Great kitchen. Kristin took care of everything for us. If you want to relax (we were working on books and wanted quiet), this place is what you are looking for.

JUST. PERFECT. And we're going back next year :)

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was as expected or better...the pictures do not lie!

We vacationed in February. The UP was everything we had hoped for! There was wood for the fireplace and propane for the grill. Standard household items were available (towels, dishes, coffee maker, pots/pans, spices, etc.).

We rented snowmobiles from Marquette Powersports and spent a day on the well-marked snowmobile trails. We highly recommend this adventure. We also went to the Eben Ice Caves. It was a hike, but well worth it.

A very relaxing atmosphere in a beautifully constructed home.

Great home with a beautiful view.

If your are looking to get away from it all and enjoy some peace and quite, this is the place to be.

We enjoyed sitting in front of the fire place and watching the scenery. The home was very clean and warm. Dave Peyton was great to work with and responded quickly to questions.

Highly recommend this home.
