Overview

About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bath on open green space with mountain views.

This quiet, sunlit 2-bedroom, 2-bath vacation rental has a contemporary comfortable open living area, recently updated, that has a gorgeous mountain view. It’s located in the 55+ Oakmont Active Adult Community in Santa Rosa, CA, which means you can enjoy a diversity of recreational activities, some just a block away.

Beautiful landscaping surrounds this peaceful spacious one-level townhome which has a private patio next to a secluded green area overlooking Hood Mountain. Well away from Highway 12 traffic noise, the patio is a pristine place to enjoy your morning coffee, cocktails later, and dining alfresco.

Besides offering golf, tennis courts, swimming pools, fitness center and more, Oakmont is surrounded by vineyards and wineries in the 'Valley of the Moon.' Within a short drive are interesting towns like historic Sonoma, Kenwood, and Glen Ellen. The Pacific Ocean is less than an hour away on country roads through farm-studded rolling hills. Downtown Santa Rosa is 15 minutes with plenty of shopping, restaurants, nightlife and culture. Just over the hill is famous Napa Valley.

We’ve tried to think everything as far as fully equipping the kitchen. You’ll find paper goods, coffee filters, spices and herbs, oils, etc. Guests have been able to prepare full Thanksgiving dinners and bake cupcakes for a wedding! The spotless bathrooms provide hair dryers, starter soap, shampoo and lotion. Our guests comment that they find the beds super comfy and come made with high-quality sheets. We have coolers and folding chairs for your excursions. We welcome you to have your next adventure in our townhome for a month-long or more when you decide to visit the Sonoma Wine Country.

Perfect Location, Lovely Views

  • 5 of 5

The townhouse is in an ideal location for so any activities and adventures. Short drives to many great wineries on Highway 12, Jack London State Park, Howarth and Anadel Parks, downtown Santa Rosa, the town of Sonoma. Also an easy drive to the Sonoma Coast or San Francisco and environs. Close to the roads over the mountains to Napa Valley. The Oakmont community affords opportunities for many activities, but is also a quiet retreat in which to enjoy mountain views and lovely birdsong. We had a relaxing month in this roomy and comfortable home and hope to return in the future.

Month's Stay

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our month's stay at Oakmont in August. The weather was perfect and the accommodations were quite comfortable. We were concerned when we realized that there was no air conditioning, but the temps cooperated and fans were adaquate. Pickleball and golf, as well as long walks and a beautiful mountain view, kept us very active and relaxed.

Our plans for next year are a bit unclear, as we may have several weddings to attend in various locations.

Thank you for sharing your home. If we should plan a return trip we will contact you to check the availability of your condo.

Tom and Betsy Werner

PS - thank you for your concern regarding Hurricane Matthew. We evacuated for 6 days and both our condo and our new home escaped damage. Many others were not so fortunate and sustained considerable damage. Beaches and golf courses took a major hit and fallen trees were everywhere. Cleanup is still in progress.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you survived the hurricane, Tom and Betsy. Regarding the A/C comment: Because of the climate in Sonoma Valley, A/C is not often necessary and why many homes do not have it. During the summer months the fog often comes in from the coast in the late evening or early morning. Temps average around low 80s daytime; 50s at night.

Lovely home! Very comfortable and in enjoyable neighborhood/location.

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to stay at this lovely home for a month when we first moved to the area. We especially enjoyed the peaceful back porch & yard. The home is well supplied, beds comfortable and kitchen worked well for us. Owners were very accommodating and easy to work with.

Does it get better than this?

  • 5 of 5

Sixty miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge and you are in an idyllic setting with lovely landscapes, quiet times, visits from wildlife, and well-maintained recreational possibilities nearby. Or drive into the wine country, to the seashore, or explore those quaint Sonoma and Marin County towns. It's in a community of friendly folks who respect your privacy. Sitting on the patio, watching the light and cloud shadows on Hood Mountain, and no bugs! The house is comfortable( day and night) and it has a non-ostentatious dignity to match the environment. You ask yourself, does it get any better than this?

Living the Good Life

  • 5 of 5

The home is very comfortable with a wall of windows looking out to the private patio and private greenbelt, with a gorgeous view of the mountains.I was there in late spring and watched the quail bring take their tiny babies on the lawn.

The home is centrally located, within short walking distance of one of the recreation centers with a pool.

Dennis and Penny are great - really helpful, easy to work with and respond promptly if you need anything or have questions.

There is an extensive listing of activities within Oakmont, all available during your visit. There is also a huge number of activities within the local area: wineries, hiking, music, lovely small towns.

You will have a great time in this area.

Wine country stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay in this condo in Oakmont. We stayed for the month of February and the weather was very nice with temperatures generally in the 60’s and 70’s. The location is excellent with nice views and attractive surroundings. It is a really nice community with everything you need available nearby. We especially enjoyed having access to the gym. Oliver’s was great for food shopping and the Oakmont Market was very handy for newspapers and limited deli items. Of course being in the middle of Sonoma wine country opens up all kinds of wine tasting opportunities which we enjoyed. The home provided everything we needed and everything was good quality and worked well. The bed is very comfortable. The location is very quiet as well. The owner is very responsive and pleasant to work with and we hope to return in the future.
