Hurricane Hero

We arrived about 48 hours before hurricane Isaias was due to hit. The view was incredible. Everything with the condo was great, no complaints. We enjoyed having easy access to the beach and being able to walk less than 5 minutes to get to a great oyster bar, Dusty's. We also walked to the pier and pier park which was maybe a 15 minute walk or about a mile. After talking to some locals and some staff at the condo, we decided to ride out the hurricane. Being from Oklahoma, we are no strangers to storms. The relentless wind was more unsettling than expected. The sound of the wind through the exterior front entrance was not bad, then the wind shifted to the balcony side. The wind produced a very eerie whistle as it found its way through every seam in the door. Once the wind dipped below 40 or 50 mph, then all was fine again. The condo held up extremely well compared to others in the area. We were one of only a couple of buildings the had power through the entire storm. We only lost power the following night because of ongoing repairs to the power grid. Overall it was a great vacation for the 6 days we were there. We were glad we chose to ride out the hurricane because we had a truly memorable vacation and an equally exciting story to tell.
