excellent location and apartment

the apartment was very easy to find. we got into whistler around midnight. Tyrone's directions were easy to understand and the entire checkin process went very smooth. The location was within 10-15 minute walking distance to the village (where all the restaurants and gondolas are). It's also across the street from the supermarket. The hot tub was perfect after a day on the mountain. The downside was there're 2 flights of stairs from the entryway to the rooms so we had to lug our luggages up the stairs. Small inconvenience but the apartment's excellent.

Ski vacation Glacier Reach

Excellent location. Close to village for groceries, restaurants (walking distance). Convenient to bus stop for access to Whistler base. Condo was equipped with everything we needed. Laundry , dishwasher soap, coffee filters, etc. Owner was very responsive to any concerns. Unit was clean and comfortable, but is showing its age.

Great location

The location of the property is great. The place could use updates and a deep cleaning. There are small repairs that are needed (shower rod, towel bar).

Whistler Family Vacation

I held off with a review because I've never done a negative one. This location is great but the property is neglected and was a "downer" relative to expectations. I'm a home contractor and I know what it takes to maintain a place in sharp condition. The very first impression was the entry door, which is falling apart and is an "inswing" door that effectively blocks the very small entry landing at the very steep (and possibly code violating) stair. Because of this the whole family had to take off our boots and gear outside first or try one at a time to sit on a step of the stair to be able to put things on a tiny bench (he calls this the "warming" area) inside the door. In spite of its' small size the drying out area could be effective if the wall heater there actually worked. But it's been disabled as one can see since the control above has been removed and a cover plate installed. So our coats, pants, boots, socks, etc. remained wet and cold every day unless we brought them up by the fireplace. (which he warns against) to dry. It would be a cost but pretty easy to just replace the entry door with an outswing door as has been done on other units nearby. There are so many things I could write about but I'll just pick one other to try and keep this shorter. The hot tub was enjoyable after we succeeded in forcing open the sliding door to the deck. This door is also in disrepair and you might be able to open it if you're a linebacker! (I've run out of writing space now)

Good spot for a weekend getaway!

Overall the price to quality of this place is great. It could use a very deep clean and some spring maintenance but for the cost its hard to beat.

Great location, gets the job done

Overall this place was a good place to stay in Whistler. Having this location and a personal hot tub is hard to beat. That said, this place could really do with an inspection and a few updates. The apartment is falling apart slightly where a couple of small fixes and upgrades could really make this place nice. Nothing “wrong” with the spot, but there are some small changes that could turn this from “good” to “great.”

No Mercy

Yes, I made the mistake of losing the key. You will be charged $100 if you lose it. My fault. I tried to negotiate not writing this review if Tyrone forgave the $100 for losing the key. That didn't fly so here we go. The biggest positive I can share is the location. It's within walking distance to everywhere in the Market. We even walked to the Whistler Gondola line one day since the buses looked packed. Walking for dinner in the evening was nice too. The unit itself was meh. That's kind of what I expected looking at the pictures and reviews, but I was a little disappointed upon arriving even knowing it might be questionable. Let's just say it was a good thing this was a dude's trip because I know many of our wives would not have wanted to stay their. Once we got settled in we discovered a few things that where kind of gross. The hot tub had a scum ring around it and some particles on the bottom. My friend also refused to sleep with the sleeper sofa open, because when he took the cushions off the couch he got grossed out. The unit is primarily outdated and could use a nice facelift. It's a great location, just not too cozy feeling. I could go on but I think this will give you a pretty good idea what to expect. I think I will be relinquished from finding the next VRBO for our ski trip next year. Sorry guys. I will say that when I did call Tyrone about having the hot tub cleaned, providing more paper towel and some laundry soap, he responded promptly.

Will not stay again

We come to Whistler every winter season and this is probably the worst place we have stayed. Its more like WB staff housing in quality, furnishings and fittings. The upstairs 2 bedroom places in Glaciers Reach are also very small. The entryway where you store ski equipment behind the door is very hard to access (let along store equipment for 4 people) and there is no heating downstairs so your equipment will not dry. The washer and dryer are pretty much in the living room and with no door on the cupboard they are in, there is no barrier to the sounds while you are in the living/kitchen. The loungeroom has 2 couches (one is a sofabed) and an ottoman, all with bed sheets over them to cover the wear and tear. There are powerpoints not mounted correctly with holes into the walls which seem dangerous. The TV’s are mounted on walls because there is no room for cabinets so there are cords hanging down and cable boxes balancing on TV’s in bedrooms, and the fireplace mantle. The bedrooms are tiny with only small amount of space to walk around the beds, which means there is no space for any drawers or shelves to put your clothes in. We lived out of suitcases stacked in the closet with minimal hanging space. There is no vacuum cleaner provided, nor any kitchen sponges and general spray/cleaner to clean the place. Its specified in the welcome that you must leave the condo in the same condition you found it (without any tools to do so) so watch out the damage fee will be charged

Awesome location!

We really enjoyed this property and would stay here again. One thing that isn’t listed in the description is that there are a LOT of stairs. My elderly mom struggled with them a bit, and they made lugging the baggage quite a job. It’s not a complaint, just letting others know. The suite seemed extremely clean in all the main living areas. Parts of the place are showing their age, like the sliding glass doors and screens, and the patio, all of which could use a clean and spruce up. The pool and hot tub were wonderful and the location was about as perfect as could be. We had a wonderful stay, thank you so much Tyrone!

Cozy within walking distance to the village

My family of 5 had a great time at Whistler. Tyrone's condo is a little aged, but still felt homey and cozy on the cold winter's day. It's within a few minutes walk to the bustle of Whistler Village and about a 15 min walk to the mountain (buses were on strike). Tyrone was communicative and gives very detailed instructions about the property, which are clear and easy to follow. We really enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to come again.

Need different cleaners

We came up for a little getaway because we are nurses and have been run of our feet with covid. The place was very central which was great and the place itself was ok. The cleaners that they have do not clean, the place was dirty you can tell they do not wipe down the cupboards because there was still food marks from previous guests. There is mold and mildew on the patio doors doesn't look like they have been cleaned in some time. The walls had marks of food and dirt you could tell where they wiped in a circle. The patio door on the second one level is so hard to use. I see from other comments that this has been an ongoing issue for some time now and it still has not been addressed. I really hope the owner looks into these cleaners because they are not doing there job at all. The cleaner also came right into the place without knocking at 950 am when we had a check out time for 11 am. To say the least we were disappointed with how dirty the place was especially with covid protocols which are not being followed in this unit

Good basic rental with an excellent location

Our family stays at Glaciers Reach every summer. The location to trails, bike park, grocery store, playground etc is perfect. Usually we book a unit a year in advance, this year due to covid we left it last minute and found this property. I did read all the reviews first and set my expectations low based on feedback from others who have stayed. This is a basic rental unit and I think the price is reflective of that. It is a bit run down and for us didn’t have a super clean, home away from home feel. The floors were dirty when we arrived (we all had black feet within 10 minutes of being in the suite). The owner was very prompt to have the cleaners come the next day which was great, and he expressed his frustration about the cleaners. While we appreciated the owner rectifying the situation, it still was not ideal. There is no BBQ as advertised, we double checked this before we came so we knew that before arrival. Several reviews referenced having too many rules. We didn’t have a concern, it seems he is just covering all his bases for the variety of renters who may be staying (I assume some are not as responsible as others). What we loved; - the owner accommodated an early check in which we really appreciated - the unit has AC in both bedrooms which is great for the summer and also has a couple fans available - there is a private hot tub on the second floor patio which the kids loved and used daily - smart TV in family room where you can access Netflix (you use your own account and log out afterwards) - TVs in each bedroom - we never used them but it’s a nice option to have - the complex has a pool and hot tub that is usually quite quiet/not many people - the location is excellent Overall if you are looking for a basic rental unit, with a reasonable price and excellent location, this unit is a good option. Thank you Tyrone for the stay and for being available when we needed your assistance.

Bad experience

This property was not clean at all. Our bed had dog hair in it and it wasn't just a few strands it was all over so it was evident the sheets and blankets weren't washed between guests which is disgusting. The floors were sticky and all the dishes that were in the cupboards were filthy. We spoke with the owner and he was understanding but nothing was done to make it a positive experience. The heat didn't work in the rooms and the wifi was super slow but we were willing to accept that as we had no choice. The house being as dirty as it was though, that was not ok.

About the host

Host profile image
I am a long time owner in Whistler and absolutely love the Village. Whistler is a 12 month resort with many activities throughout the year. We try and come out to play as much as possible.

Why they chose this property

Glacier's Reach is so central to ALL Whistler Village has to offer we just had to jump at the chance to own this property. From the location to all the restaurants, shops and slopes and the fact we could walk to each of them in just minutes. It was a very simple choice for us.

Our favorite thing is to relax in the hot tub and see all that is going on in the complex without being seen while in the tub.. Shhhh, our little secret! It is truly our little home away from home.

What makes this property unique

The views from the 3rd story deck are amazing. Seeing Whistler Mountain and the common area Swimming Pool & Hot Tub is an added bonus to this beautiful town home. As not every unit in Glacier's Reach or in Whistler can have a Pvt Hot Tub, we are very fortunate to have our own Private tub & Townhouse Here.
