Cape San Blas consistently ranks in the Top 10 Beaches. 20 miles of Pet Friendly, uncrowded white sand beaches on a peninsula sandwiched between the Gulf Of Mexico and St. Joseph’s Bay makes this a dream vacation spot. Bring your family to experience Florida like it used to be -No High Rises here to mar your views – No crowds – just emerald green waters and unspoiled snow white beaches with sand dunes and sea oats blowing in the gulf breeze. When was the last time you built a bonfire on the beach at night or went horseback riding at sunset on the beach? Also, pets are allowed on the pet friendly beaches of Cape San Blas.

Sounds laid back but there are plenty of things to do here.

300 feet from the entrance of Barrier Dunes is a bike path that goes the entire length to the entrance of Cape San Blas (9 miles). St. Joseph’s State Park is within walking distance and has miles of white sand beaches, striking dune formations, a heavily forested interior, and a favorable climate for year-round outdoor recreation. Boat launching, picnicking, hiking trails, boating, fishing + can be found here. Also nearby is the Port St. Joe Country Club and Golf Course.

The Port St Joe marina offers scuba diving, boat rentals and sailing opportunities. Both Appalachicola and Port St. Joe offer unique shops and antiques. There are many wonderful seafood retaurants from Mexico Beach to Appalachicola.

On the Cape: 'Coneheads' offers lunch and dinner as well as great ice cream & The Best Burgers and Seafood baskets ever! The Sand Bucket' offers Champion BBQ which is superb!' Low Country Boil is new and just off the Cape on 30A, Indian Pass Raw Bar' is a favorite with lots of local color as well as it’s great oysters and seafood. 'The Trading Post' and 'Scallop Cove' offer Groceries & most everything you might need + fresh Doughnuts. '

About Jenny Richie

After living in Florida for 28 years and then moving back to Alabama, we still missed the 'toes in the sand'. We live close to the Gulf Coast and looked at our old stomping ground, Panama City. Boy, had it changed, grown up with miles and miles of high rises. Exploring we came upon 'The Forgotten Coast' and fell in love with Cape San Blas. There is enough to do but still has that laid back, forget your troubles, kind of vacation feeling.

We started vacationing here with our children and grandchildren and made many memories at the beach, boating, shelling, bonfires on the beach and just being together. That's what vacation is all about.

Jenny Richie purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Jenny Richie chose Florida Main North West

We love Barrier Dunes as it is beach side, gated and secure, beautiful landscaping with 2 pools and tennis courts as well as 3 stocked fishing ponds. It is pet friendly with pet stations all around. What more can you ask for?

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time. Funseeker had everything we could possibly need. We didn't know what to expect before we came. All we knew was it was a dog-friendly beach and we wanted to bring our fur baby with us. A lot of times you have in your mind what to expect and it doesn't live up to your expectations. That was not the case on our trip to Cape San Blas.

One of the highlights of our trip was going fishing in the bay with Kevin of Shore Thing Charters. It was a small 18 foot boat, but Kevin took us all over the bay and we caught a lot of fish. I wasn't even sure I would like fishing, but with Kevin's expertise, it was a very enjoyable outing. Walking on the beach and the sunsets were amazing. We went to Apalachicola a couple of times. We ate at Papa Joe's and the Owl Cafe. They both were very good. Also, I had fun shopping in the galleries there. We ate at Cone Heads and Scully's and enjoyed both of those. We went for a hike in the state park. We left wanting more time and with many more things on our to-do list.

We are thinking of returning for my birthday in October, so I will be getting back with you once we get the dates pinned down.

Funseeker

  • 5 of 5

We spent Labor Day weekend at Funseeker in Barrier Dunes. The 2 bedroom condo was spacious, clean and very tastefully decorated. Even with 4 teenage girls, my husband, myself and 2 small dogs we had plenty of room.the condo was stocked with everything you need to enjoy a day aththe beach including beach towels, chairs and rafts & tumblers. After a long day at the beach, it was great to. get a good nights sleep....the beds were so comfortable ! We had a wonderful time...no one wanted to leave. We will definitely rent Funseeker during our. Ext visit to Cape San Blas!! Loved it!

Fun at Funseeker!

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with the Cape. We had everything we needed during our stay and Funseeker is well appointed in both decor as well as necessities and supplies. We fished, sunned, explored Apalachicola and Port St. Joe, shopped and ate fresh seafood at Indian Pass Raw bar, Coneheads, Sunset Grill and The Owl! We will definitely be back.

Wonderful, quiet beach vacation

  • 5 of 5

Funseeker was found exactly as described. The property was clean and well-kept, just paces from the beautiful beach. Our family of five, plus the dog, were very comfortable and had a fantastic vacation. Jenny was very responsive to our questions, and a pleasure to work with! I'm happy to recommend Funseeker to anyone looking for a restful beach vacation!

A Vacation to Remember!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a family vacation to remember, Funseeker at Cape San Blas have it all! The unit was very clean :) and had everything we needed from towels to beach equipment. The deck overlooked a pond packed with turtles that kept the kids interested for hours. The unit was very close to the beach and pool...just under a minute walk. This place was dog friendly. Jack and Coco loved it here! The owner was readily available when we had questions. We can't wait to come back next year and will definitely stay longer! Thank you so much Jenny for letting us stay in your lovely condo.

We loved Funseeker!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Funseeker for one week, and our family of 4 had a wonderful time. It was first time visiting Cape San Blas, and it was very secluded and peaceful. The unit was very clean, and it had everything for a long term stay. The master bedroom was upstairs, and the guest room with a bunk bed was downstairs, which added privacy. We really liked the pet-friendly environment of the community. When walking your dog, they have doggie poop bags for you to use throughout your walking path. The beach was very close to the unit, and the swimming pool was placed perfectly on the way to the beach. On top of all, the owner was very responsive and engaging throughout our stay. If you are looking for a place that is fun for the family with or without pets, this is a great destination. We would totally recommend Funseeker as a possible place for your stay away from home.

Owner's Response: Hailey, it was a pleasure having you and your family. I appreciate your telling us about the grill and we replaced it, even though it worked and just the drip pan was the problem. Most people with children enjoy the privacy of the Master suite on it's own floor and the children love the Queen/full bunk. Thank you so much for being out guests and hope you will think of Funseeker when it is time for another vacation. Jenny

Funseeker gave our family the perfect "foundation" for an absolutely amazing vacation on The Cape!!!

  • 5 of 5

Funseeker at Barrier Dunes felt like our home away from home the moment we arrived! Jenny's unit had every necessity and convenience of home along with a very clean, welcoming, and cozy environment. The two story layout offered my husband and I, a very private space ALL to ourselves on the top floor, (with television, and separate laundry room), (almost as though we weren't staying at the same property with our children)! LOL! The "middle floor" had a perfect bedroom, (with television), which accommodated our three children. The kitchen, and living room area, (also on the middle floor), allowed the six of us plenty of space while preparing meals, and doing all the fun things families do together. It proved to be a very comfortable common area for us all, (with television). Additionally, said space doubled as my father's "bedroom", (on the couch), which worked out great for him. All beds were amazingly comfortable...no backache complaints...not even from my Dad! We frequently used, and very much enjoyed the deck off of the living room! It overlooked a pond with more turtles than we could count and fish galore! Our son spent many a hours fishing in that pond and our two girls, NOT fishergirls, joined in on the fun as well! Fishing from the deck area was just so neat and super nice for the grown-ups when we just felt like "relaxing at home". The kids were engaged and completely engrossed and Mom, Dad and Granpa relaxed on the deck while the fish were flying! :) Often enjoying beautiful sunsets as well! The pool and beautiful, beautiful beach were but a very few steps away from Funseeker. The proximity from the beach was really great b/c it made it MUCH easier to transport all the beach equipment that Jenny provides. No dragging coolers, beach umbrellas, chairs or toys from home..it's all there. Also, the private, enclosed outdoor shower at the unit is AWESOME! Very convenient as you can get rid of the sand BEFORE going inside. When you have as many feet as we did and who knows how much trapped sand in bathing suits, etc. it was a lifesaver. Somehow, when at the beach the sand seems to find a way in and it ends up everywhere! Oh! and our furry family member felt like a king as he relaxed on his little bed that we set up in the bay window nook behind the couch. He surveyed his domain from that little cozy nook and it remained his "place" until we left! We absolutely can't wait to come back! Thank you Jenny for everything!

Owner's Response: Bettina, What a great review and I am so glad that your family and Grandpa had ample space and great sleep while you were there on the beds as well as the sleeper sofa. Sounds like there was something for everyone - the turtles and fishing in the pond just off the deck and the beautiful Forgotten Coast Gulf beach! Come back anytime!
