About SJ & Marc

We are long time residents of West Yellowstone and couldn't pass up owning and offering this classic log cabin to guests that want to enjoy the Greater Yellowstone area.

Why SJ & Marc chose West Yellowstone

This historic cabin built in 1930 has wonderful character, is on a wooded lot with mature trees, and is centrally located within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, markets, and National Forest trails and open space. Built in 1930, our log cabin was restored and upgrade with modern amenities, yet maintains the mid 20th century charm and character.

What makes this cabin unique

We renovated our cabin in June of 2013. The floors were sanded and refinished, there is honey colored pine wood paneling throughout (not a single piece of sheetrock!) and we added modern conveniences and a second bathroom, yet kept the unique and historical charm of the log cabin and wooded lot.

Nice place, very basic, some good, some less-good

  • 3 of 5

Nice place that sleeps a lot of people. The rugs are thread-bare and the showers anemic. Nice open floor plan and adequate simple food prep. I would stay here again, but realize it is far from posh.

Perfect Winter Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We keep returning to this comfy cabin every December when we are in town to nordic ski. It's perfect for 4-6 people and has lots of sleeping options. It's also very close to restaurants, grocery stores and the nordic trails. Marc and SJ are the perfect hosts - helpful but not intrusive.

Charming describes this property perfectly

  • 4 of 5

This is the most charming log cabin we have ever stayed in. My husband and I rented this cabin to attend a ski race in town last March. Everything was in walking distance which we loved. The kitchen is so darn cute. Mid century look in perfect condition. We used the wax room daily which was very convenient for us. I liked knowing the owners lived in town just in case we needed anything. We never had to call them but it was nice knowing they were their just in case. If it had a King bed I would have given it 5 stars otherwise the beds were cozy and comfortable and worked out great. Fun loft where kids would enjoy sleeping. We liked it so much we plan on returning again this spring. I definitely would recommend this rental to anyone.

Cozy and charming cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 (2 parents and 3 teenagers) stayed in this cozy cabin for three nights in early October and toured Yellowstone. The cabin was clean and charming. We were able to spread out and sleep well. The kitchen had everything we needed, though we really didn't cook much. It was obvious the owners have spent a lot of time, effort, and money remodeling the cabin to be comfortable and spacious. I was a little worried when we pulled up and I saw a small motel right across the street, but we never heard any noise and were not bothered by in at all. Highly recommend!

Super comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was built in the 1930s, and I admit, at first, I was a bit concerned that the age might make it uncomfortable. I needn't have worried! The owner, Marc, gave us a walk-through upon arrival, and showed us everything we needed to know. Everything important has been updated. The open-layout design of the cabin makes it easy to gather and socialize with your friends. The beds are amazing. The location provides great access to the west gate of Yellowstone, and easy walking to the town. Marc is a great host, and gives your arrival the extra personal touch that makes you feel welcome.

The only issue we had is that even though the cabin can theoretically sleep 8 or 10, the room layout is a bit tough on privacy. We were a party of three couples and one adult "kid," so at times, it felt a little intrusive of each other. The sliding doors between the bedrooms and central bathroom are noisy, so you feel self-conscious if you need to go when others are sleeping. The cabin is really ideal for two couples and zero to six young kids, or a large, extended family.

Also, while the picture shows the beauty of the cabin and the property overall, it's across the street from a motel, and some type of recycling facility. After a long drive from Jackson, my entire party deflated a little when we first drove up. In the end, it did not matter at all. The property is pretty, and the interior is so comfy and pleasant, we didn't care.

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery center has live grizzly bears ,wolf packs and raptors for viewing, as well as indoor exhibits, movies and gift shop. The IMAX theater is adjacent and across the street is West Yellowstone's historic district and the Yellowstone Historic Center (open in summer). The West entrance to Yellowstone National park is only blocks away and skiing, snow shoeing, walking, and snowmobiling in the Gallatin National Forest are within walking distance of our cabin. Hebgen Lake, Henry's Lake and historic Quake Lake are a short 15-30 minute drive away. We are located in a fishing mecca with multiple lakes, rivers and streams including the Madison, Gallatin and Firehole Rivers. Ice fishing is prevalent and the annual Hebgen Lake Fishing Derby fun. The Rocky Mountains are within minutes and there are many additional mountain ranges to explore in summer and winter.
