Why Bob Shannon chose Alameda

Located in SF Bay Area with wonderful marine climate. Called 'Iowa by the Sea' for the charm and friendliness of this beach community. 20 mins. to SF city life. Established as a Summer retreat for the San Francisco elite, homes of Craftsman architecture are prevalent. The kitchen and baths are remodeled with modern features. Enjoy a garden of 85 yr. old antique roses, make lemonade from fresh-picked Meyer lemons in the yard, watch passers-by from the porch and sit by the cozy fireplace in an overstuffed chair... seriously, I could go on... This house, in this friendly neighborhood make coming home something to look forward to. All our guests say so.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location in Alameda's prestigious East End. This 6 mile island gives you a home base close to everything via the bus stop on the corner, drive, BART or ferry to San Francisco, AT&T Park (Giants baseball), Embarcadero, street cars, Alcatraz, Angel Island, Tiburon/Sausalito or Napa/Sonoma Valley. Or simply stay and relax. Our guests love this Island Bungalow in San Francisco Bay.

Great vacation home in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed in this lovely home during our recent vacation to the San Francisco area. The home had everything we needed, and was in a perfect location for our trips into the City and other points of interest around the Bay area. The home was very clean, and provided plenty of space for our family of five. The outside area behind the house was a nice setting for our morning coffee, and retreat for us in the evening after a day of sightseeing. The owner met us on our arrival, and was very accommodating and informative, providing us with get tips to enhance our vacation in the area. Taking the Ferry from Alameda into the City is the way to go. We would highly recommend this house if you plan to vacation in the San Francisco Bay area.

Wonderfully solid Craftsman bungalow with exquisite woodwork.

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful small solid home in a quiet neighborhood. Just a block off High Street which leads across a bridge to Oakland and highways. It's about a one mile pleasant walk to the main Alameda commercial center featuring every imaginable type of restaurant. Overall an excellent choice for an Oakland visitor.

Nice home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Bungalow. The owner was very helpful. The home was well equipped. The lemon tree was an extra treat. We initially thought the ferry everyday to SF was adding a lot to the cost of our stay but later realized driving into the city, as long as you avoid rush hour, was not so bad and less than 25 minutes. We had great time in town and wish we had spent more time just relaxing at the house and in Alameda.
