About Eshyah Selig
When I bought this property, there were no foundations for any of the units, no mechanical systems, nothing but a great location and the shells of 3 small, historically significant buildings. We lifted up the buildings, poured foundations, lowered the buildings and rebuilt them from the frames out, using the most appropriate materials that we could find. It was a labor of love. I am a transplant from California, and JazzFest, 2018 will mark 24 years in NOLA. I came for the music, attending the Fest for several years in a row, and then decided that hey! these folks do this all year 'round; they just invite the rest of the world for JF. I became aware of WWOZ, the best radio station in the universe, Gambit and Offbeat. This place is wired for fun. I love it and will never leave, at least not for good (I like to travel). I have rehabbed 5 historical properties, and now using this one to partially finance my retirement. I have recently opened a cat cafe in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, for the benefit of our shelter-rescue cats; we offer about 20 cats and kittens at a time for adoption or just handing out with. We also offer short-term rental in the cat club, if you would like to really load up on fur-face; check out our VRBO Listing #10211010 "Your Own Cottage". Ain't life great?

Why Eshyah Selig chose Treme - Lafitte
This property is as New Orleans as it gets. Why come to New Orleans to stay in a hotel that could be in Cleveland (no offense to Cleveland) or any high rise hotel in the country? Why not stay in a piece of New Orleans history? Start your visit as soon as you check into the Mardi Gras Cottages. This unit is large enough to be suitable for a longer stay.
What makes this Cottage unique
This is a beautiful, peaceful, unique property in walking distance to all the excitement and fun in the French Quarter. After a day of sight-seeing and music and fun and inbibing all that NOLA has to offer, come home to a private, serene place where you can recharge your batteries before venturing out again, while still soaking up the ambience of New Orleans. Save money by using the full kitchen for some meals, and put your restaurant leftovers in the fridge for future reference. Even use the free laundry so you don't have to go home with a suitcase full of dirty clothes! Pet friendly.

My friend and I had a blast in NOLA and this was a wonderful little cottage to stay in. Was only about 3 blocks from Port of Call and maybe about half a mile from the French quarter...walking distance. I felt very safe on that street. Took Uber of Lyft when we didn’t feel like walking and it was less than $5 to Frenchman St and the quarter. The house was a cute little studio cottage with two beds and a futon. My friend and I decided to use one bed as our luggage holder and we slept in the bigger bed, which was very comfy! The owner, Eshyah, was very friendly. We didn’t have to bug her for anything during our stay. She met us there and showed us around and she even has a binder in the house with her recommendations. I definitely will not wait another 12 years to visit NOLA again and when I come back, I’ll book this same house!
Great location and place!
Stayed here for a long weekend with two friends and the place was perfect. We were able to walk to the frech quarter in minutes or grab a short Uber to anywhere else. Eshyah was extremely accommodating. Would definitely recommend!
Cute and comfortable! Great location!
We had a great stay at the Cottages. Eshyah, the owner was so helpful and very cool! We took advantage of the bikes that are available with the rental, what a great way to see the city. We even took them on the ferry to Algiers Point. We were there for Jazz Fest, so the cottage was right on the way to the fairgrounds. We took the bikes, and even walked one day. Nice quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed having a drink at Sydney's Saloon, just up the street. Eshyah's notebook was very informative!
Cute, quiet and comfortable
Location was perfect. Close enough to walk the French Quarter, yet far enough away to enjoy the quiet. The cottage was clean and comfy. Not sure where she got the bed sheets from, but I need to have a set at home!
The only thing I would suggest is to bring some slippers/house shoes as the floor is tile and my feet got pretty cold.
We didn't get the chance to meet the owner of the property, but she was available by phone/text. She left a book in the cottage that pretty much covers everything you need to know about NOLA.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.
Great location! We mostly walked everywhere. Place was clean and just like in photos. Thanks again!
Very close to French Quarter and Frenchman Street. Comfortable accommodations with everything we needed. Home owner was very friendly and helpful in giving ideas of things to do. Only 1 small frying pan, so if you are cooking, you may want to being extra pans. We have a 2 y.o. daughter that was very comfortable. My only warning with a small child is that the water gets VERY hot. Make sure a child doesn't turn the hot water on b/c it can easily burn. I made the water too hot while washing dishes and it was hot enough to make my hands very red and painful!! Will definitely recommend this place to anyone going to NOLA!!
Well, we will definitely remedy the frying pan situation, and turn down the temperature on the water heater. Thanks for taking the time to write a review.
The cottages are located 1 block from the French Quarter, and 2 miles from City Park, The Fairgrounds and JazzFest. The area is known alternatively as The Treme or Esplanade Ridge. It's a great area to bike and walk to world-class live music and restaurants, 7 days a week, on Frenchmen St. and in the French Quarter.
