About Gretchen Bell

We live, work, and have raised our family in Anchorage, Alaska. We have five children ranging in age from 24 to 46 and four teenage grandchildren. We are both very active in the community but not so active we can’t escape to The Big Island for a some aloha spirit.

Gretchen Bell purchased this condo in 2010

Why Gretchen Bell chose Waikoloa

We love the laid back aloha spirit of Hawaii. In addition, it is the most convenient tropical location for Alaskans with many direct flights year round.

We particularly love The Big Island with its variety of climate, vegetation, wonderful beaches, and many things to do.

What makes this condo unique

When we decided to buy in Hawaii, we looked at several properties. We didn’t get the same “island feeling” in the other units. The best way to describe it is the feeling of “aloha.” Walking into our condo and opening the lanai doors to the beautiful garden brings an amazing sense of peace, relaxation and anticipation of fun.

The location is perfect for exploring the beaches and towns on the sunny Kohala Coast. With the beautiful beach at A-Bay, fine dining and a variety of shops all within walking distance many needs can be met without ever having to leave the resort area. It is a haven whether you want to kick back and do nothing or venture out and do everything

The mature landscaping is amazing. The pool is salt water, heated, big enough for lap swimming and there are two fabulous hot tubs. The unit is ground floor so not having to carry groceries, or beach gear upstairs is great.

Beautiful condo located in a great Kona Side Community

  • 5 of 5

Cute condo giving you access to some of the most beautiful beaches on the Big Island, convenient access to restaurants and amenities. Gretchen responded very quickly and completely to all questions and was very flexible regarding any special requests.

Very comfortable to come home to

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay, peacefully quiet, lovely surroundings. Had most everything needed, esp in kitchen. But no DVD player was a disappointment.

Wonderful Waikoloa get-away

  • 5 of 5

Clean, serene, beautiful gardens, ideal location, relaxing pool, within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, the ocean and sandy beaches. Condo is so comfortable, easy access, nice décor and the most comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen with a dish washer and convenient washer and dryer. Easy communication with property manager and very easy detailed instructions for address/directions, check-in, check-out...with a binder full of local attractions. We Highly recommend this Property to everyone...great location for a family with kids of all ages, as well as just any couple of any age planning an island get-away. Mahalo Nui Loa...Ah Hui Hou (cause we plan on returning soon)….Aloha!

All you could ever need.

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what a great place this is to stay. Gretchen's unit just has everything you could ever need for an amazing vacation stay. The unit has easy entry with the unit's parking stall just a few steps from the front door. After you enter, you immediately notice the large rooms and great natural light this unit has, along with two large lanais. The unit faces the pool, about a 10-second walk, which was convenient for quick dips. The saltwater pool is awesome with both adequate sun and shade. Even with the pool nearby, this unit is quiet and the pool's landscaping provides total privacy.

Inside the unit, each bedroom has direct access to a bathroom (and the ensuite bathroom is huge). The king-size beds were comfortable and there are lots of linens and towels.

Gretchen's kitchen has everything you could ever want or use--plenty of cutlery and dishware, appliances of all kinds, and her pantry is very well stocked--that helped us immensely with cooking meals without having to buy spices or oil for example.

Anaehoomalu beach is about a 10-minute walk from the unit and, even though this is not one of our favourite swimming beaches, it became one of our favourite snorkel beaches with fantastic landscape off to the south (we adventured way past the extent of the sand beach), a great variety of fish and the most turtles of any beach we've been to on the Big Island in 8 different trips. Gretchen also provides plenty of beach equipment including real boogie boards (so many units have ones that are more like pool toys).

We were super impressed and happy with this unit, and Gretchen's communication was quick and polite. We would have no hesitation about booking here again. I wish we had stayed even longer!

Nice resort-style condo

  • 4 of 5

Not much "native" Hawaii around here, but the beaches are the greatest, particularly in winter when Kona beaches tend to lose all their sand. The place was very comfortable for 4, and all the provided water toys and beach stuff was a nice touch. Quiet neighborhood is conducive for sleeping with doors and windows open to the cool breeze.
