Perfect for us inside and out!

  • 5 of 5

Cute home with plenty of space for a single, couple or family! The outdoor space was amazing from the screened porch, deck, gazebo, firepit and the deck at the boat dock! So many options for rest and relaxation! The owner was very attentive, quick to answer any questions we had....very accommodating! If we ever have the chance to visit that area again....I will definitely stay at Caroline's cottage.

Everything was great. The house, the lake , the dock, the gazebo and fire pit area were all enjoyed. The only thing I would have liked to see is more outside lighting.

Thanks for the use of your home.

Cottage was very quaint and relaxing atmosphere with city activities within a short distance.

Clean cottage in a quiet area for an extended weekend getaway. Liked that you were away from the hustle and bustle of the town yet close enough to go shopping, have dinner out, etc. Would go there again.

Bad Experience

  • 1 of 5

We arrived on Saturday as planned and we expected the typical camp setting. We were not looking for a fancy resort so we didn't mind the musty smell, creaky floors or even the old carpet. We were not thrilled about the steep incline of the ankle breaking steps or the front door that was about to fall off but we could deal with it. We invited 30 friends over on Sunday for a cookout and that's when the landlord showed up and walked right into the house hollering at everyone to keep the doors shut and that SHE WAS THE LANDLORD and SHE WAS PAYING FOR THE AC! Then she proceeded to interrogate everyone outside to find out if they were staying at the camp. She complained about the grill a friend had brought so we could cook hamburgers, the cars in the driveway and we needed an event permit. We finally just told her to leave. Then she showed up two more times during the week. She basically ruined the vacation. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere so you don't have your LANDLORD walking in on your and screaming at you.

Owner's Response: Bad RENTER - Brett McCarthy As Brett states in his review he invited 30 friends over (which is true he did and it is in violation my rental agreement that he agreed to on the VRBO site). He also allowed his guests to bring dogs (also without permission) and flammable grills. He propped open the doors to the home (with rocks) on a 94 degree day in North Carolina. He opened the window and placed a boom box in it, playing to the outside. When I arrived on this Sunday afternoon (trash day) to pull the trash can to the street much to my surprise I found this large party going on. I did walk in the home and had to ask, over his music, for the doors to be closed because I pay for the AC during their stay. They had placed grills with flames under my wood deck - I provide an electric grill on the gazebo. I should have evicted them but I didn't want to have a scene with the whole group of 30 people. If you want to have large parties this cottage is not for you. I do not allow them and would prefer you book somewhere else. Thanks, Alesia

My husband, daughter, son in law and grandson and I had a wonderful time, we took Alesia's advice and rented a boat for a day! The lake was amazing, and the fish were biting as well!

Thank you Alesia for opening your home up.
