  • Long summer weekend in the Blue Moon Cottage

"We were fortunate to have an opportunity to stay three nights in Leigh's Blue Moon Cottage in Jerome. Although the cottage is essentially within walking distance to downtown its location on the mountain provides the feel of remoteness and an unobstructed view of the valley. The cottage is wonderfully decorated in a fun way that creates a very comfortable environment. Leigh had provided some essential items such as coffee, orange juice, English muffins, jam, cream cheese and sundry other items. We were late arriving Thursday night but she did not complain although we kept her on the phone about 20 minutes getting directions while driving from Cottonwood to Jerome and met us close to the cottage. We followed her a few blocks and she gave us an orientation of the cottage and tips regarding restaurants and the most important sights. During our relatively short stay when we were not just relaxing and enjoying the serenity of the cottage, we hiked trails near Jerome, Cottonwood and North of Sedona; kayaked the Verdes; picnicked by and swam in the Verdes River and Oak Creek by ourselves all including our constant companion, my friend's dog, Dierks Bentley; explored downtown Jerome (great breakfast and dinner places and we got to sit in the Jerome fire truck with our dog while the fireman took our pictures) and Cottonwood and had massages while Dierks was groomed in Sedona. Dinner at Asylum was fun. We ate outside then took a tour of the hotel; Dierks must have seen the ghost cat because he wanted to run out of there. The Bootlegger bar in Cottonwood was fun; Christy and Dierks danced and the locals had a good show. For a couple interested in a romantic stay in a very charming, historic mountain town the Blue Moon Cottage is ideal and the owner, Leigh, is very accommodating and friendly. A visit to her downtown clothing store to see her clothing and quilt designs is a must as well. One caution: don't drink too much wine while relaxing on the front porch, leave your phone and keys in the house and manage to lock yourself out. After laughing for awhile at ourselves and no way to call anyone or drive anywhere I was able to get Christy on my shoulders, push her up high on the post while standing on a chair in the dark and she climbed the rest of the way onto the back deck. Fortunately, that door was unlocked. Overall our long weekend in Jerome was a perfect mix of adventure, fun, good memories and time for relaxation. Mike and Christy Phoenix"

  • Comfortable home on very quiet dead end street

"My wife, dog and I stayed at the Little Bear Lodge for two weeks this summer. We needed to beat the heat and be close to hiking trails. This home fit our needs very nicely. The home is very clean and exactly as pictured. The entire yard is fenced so was perfect for our dog Brody. The home is at the end of a dead end street and right next to a 15 acre forested area so it is very quiet even though you are only a mile from the main street. The documentation on things to do in the area and how to do things in the home are very well organized and very helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. We rely on internet for a lot of our entertainment (streaming video and music) and that worked fine as well. The best part of the house for us though was the front porch. We stayed outside most of the time to enjoy the weather. Thank goodness there is a ceiling fan right over the outside seating area because it did get a little warm a couple days. We didn't need the A/C in the house but I was tempted to turn it on one day. The house stays relatively cool and the windows provide a nice breeze. I was worried we might run out of things to do but we didn't get to all the places we wanted to see. if you like hiking and don't mind driving 30-45 minutes, there are some great areas with nice wildflowers and great forests. The forests around Pinetop are nice but not many wildflowers. It must be the type of soil. Still, they make great hikes if you want something really close. We took our mountain bikes on the Rim Road as well. Didn't get as far as we would like because the monsoon came in while we were out but it is a good dirt road and very close to the home. The Petrified Forest National Park and Painted Desert are not too far and was really cool. I would recommend the short hike into the Blue Mesa area. It is really unusual. If you want a cool, quiet, comfortable place to beat the Valley heat, this is a good choice."

  • Just Perfect!!

"This was a family get together, as we live in Az & Cali. We all had such an amazing time at John's cabin. We could relax on the huge, beautiful patio or play darts or beanbag toss or horseshoes! So many activities to choose from! The kitchen is so well stocked with all the pots, pans & utensils you could ask for!! Even a full sIze crockpot!! Plenty of spices too! We weren't able to have fires because of the restrictions, but to be honest, we didn't even miss that. John was available for any & all questions I had. Numerous times during our 4 night stay, comments were made about how accommodating & comfortable the cabin was. Our asssorted families of 14 had such a wonderful, memory-filled time!! Thanks, John! Can't wait to come back!"

  • Summer in Prescott

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Carriage House. It is a lovely home with many areas to entertain and relax. The completely fenced backyard was perfect for us because of our dog. And both the back and front yards are beautifully landscaped. There is a large deck and a smaller one off of the master bedroom that we enjoyed spending time on. The interior of the home is beautiful too, with ample windows, skylights, and granite countertops. The homeowner, Ellen was very easy to work with, and readily available for any questions that may arise. We did a lot of hiking on our trip, and found Carriage House to be perfectly located near lots of great hiking, as well is being near downtown Prescott, The Gateway Mall, and a variety of other shopping. The homeowners have anticipated most every need, and the furnishings and provisions of the home are excellent. We love Prescott! Who knows if we will be able to get away for a whole month again in the near future, but we would definitely stay again at Carriage House!"
