Beautiful Woodstock Mountain House with Hot Tub and Ping Pong

Bedrooms 2
Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Peaceful seclusion: 4 acres in the woods but 1.8 miles from center of Woodstock

The home is secluded and warm but with all the modern amenities. It sits in the middle of four wooded acres but is only 1.8 miles from the center of the town of Woodstock. I bought it in the summer of 2013 and have enjoyed many relaxing weekends away from NYC.

The original interior is full of warm, knotty pine walls, hardwood floors, and a wood-burning fireplace. In the fall of 2013, I converted an adjoining artist studio to a Great Room. It now has cathedral pine ceilings, wood beams, and light pine floors. It also houses a brand new down-filled Room & Board sofa and chaise, a brand new ping-pong table, a gas woodstove, and a 55' television with DirecTV.

The home has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. The Master bedroom features knotty pine cathedral ceilings, Russell Wright furnishings, a brand new, quality king mattress, and its own private second-floor deck. The second bedroom also features cathedral ceilings, painted knotty pine walls and ceiling, a brand new Queen Bed, and a day-bed that can be converted to a king. The bed mattresses are all high-quality, brand new, and very comfortable.

The kitchen has it all: gas stove, large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and all the cooking tools, pots and pans, and dishes you could need. The kitchen leads to a serene screened-in back porch that looks onto the blue stone patio and off into the woods. Four steps up from the patio is a brand new hot tub that looks out over the house.

The front yard is beautifully landscaped with blue stone walkways and steps. About 100 yards to the side of the house -- still on the property -- is a mountain stream.

About David

I live in Brooklyn but spend many peaceful weekends at this unbelievable retreat in the woods.

David purchased this house in 2013

Why David chose Catskills

I looked for two years for just the right place. I wanted the feel of a cabin but the space, light, and amenities of a modern home. I wanted seclusion but proximity to town. This has it all. In the summer of 2013, I converted what was an artist's studio space into a great room with cathedral ceilings, wood beams, a ping-pong table and a gas woodstove. I also built a blue stone patio in back and added a hot tub on the rise of the back hill. Sitting in the tub, you look over the house at the tall, evergreen trees and the open sky.

The interior of the house needed no work -- the previous owner was a weaver and kept the home in meticulous, artistic shape. The knotty pine walls give it great warmth. The picture frame windows make you feel as though you are sitting in a nature painting. And when the mountain stream next to the house is racing, the sound of the water makes you forget entirely about the rest of the world.

What makes this house unique

The home's combination of warmth and seclusion with it's close proximity to town make it unique. You cannot see another house from the property and yet you are only 1.8 miles from the center of town.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

Great location, very close to town and to Overlook mountain. Beautiful property on a very private lot, surrounded by nature.

The backyard and hot tub were great...quite relaxing.

New York City

wonderful layout

  • 5 of 5

our family spent Easter at the mountain house and love dit. it was a little oasis in the forest. very clean and pleasant. nothing like spending an afternoon in a hot tub in the forest like that. We loved the dining table as well and the back porch room was a very nice place to relax and play games.

Rustic and peaceful getaway in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

This house is a pleasure to stay at. The surrounding woods around the house are very peaceful and quiet. The house couldn't be cleaner and the house is fully stocked with fresh towels, sheets, and toilet paper. Making a fire every night was a real treat and having wood already there is so convienent and a nice thing to offer guests. Hot tub was clean and easy to access in the back yard. Overall fantastic house and we look forward to renting it again sometime!!

Fun, relaxing weekend in the Mountain House

  • 5 of 5

The house was less than ten minutes from the center of town but also secluded up on a mountain road. Really peaceful and relaxing, with access to a cute main street and cool trails. The house also has everything you'd want – a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, a great TV setup, a ping pong table, and a hot tub! The perfect retreat!

More than Expected

  • 5 of 5

The descriptions are very accurate, however the charm of the home can only be captured in person. Both bedrooms are larger than the pictures indicate. Waking up to unexpected snowfall was something out of storybook. The gas burning stove was fantastic, as were the blankets on the couch nearby. The home was clean, comfy and David was great to work with through the entire process. We are already checking dates on when we can return during the summer!!
