About this property
Dog-friendly mountain home with amazing views - near town & hiking
Primary renter must be at least 25 years of age to rent (proof of age required). No hot tub at this property. Bear's Den does not have a hot tub — please plan accordingly. Tucked into the pines west of Highway 243, Bear's Den is a cozy, wood-paneled cabin just a mile from Idyllwild's town center — and one of the few homes in our collection with no minimum-night restriction, so a quick one-night mountain escape is entirely doable. It's an easy, budget-friendly way to unplug without giving up comfort. Once you're settled in, the town's eclectic shops, cafes, and the Rustic Theater are a short stroll or drive away. Spend your days mountain biking, hiking the Mt. San Jacinto Summit Trail, or exploring the Idyllwild Nature Center, and your evenings around the fireplace. Lake Hemet's watersports are nearby, and Hemet itself — with the interactive Fingerprints Youth Museum and the Western Science Center — makes for an easy 22-mile day trip. Inside, knotty pine walls and high ceilings give the cabin real mountain-cabin character, warmed up by a wood-burning fireplace and finished with a wraparound deck for morning coffee or evening stargazing. A dedicated desk and chair make it easy to sneak in a few hours of work if needed, and Wi-Fi covers the whole home. The kitchen is fully equipped for real cooking, not just reheating — stove top, oven, microwave, dishwasher, blender, toaster, and coffee maker are all here, along with cookware and utensils. Gather at the dining table or take the meal out to the deck for mountain views. Both bedrooms offer a king bed, dresser, and closet with hangers, so everyone gets real space to unpack. A futon and an additional mattress (stored in the closet) provide flexible extra sleeping for larger groups, bringing total capacity to 6 guests. A full bathroom with both a shower and a tub rounds out the home. Traveling with a dog? Bear's Den is pet-friendly, and the fenced yard gives them room to roam safely. A washer and dryer are also on-site for longer stays. Parking: Space for up to 3 standard cars in front of the home (comfortably fits 2). Street parking is not permitted.
Things to Know: No hot tub — this is not an advertised amenity at this property. Check-in: 4:00 p.m. | Check-out: 10:00 a.m. No smoking anywhere on the premises. Riverside County prohibits "party" lighting (no blinking, flashing, or rotating outdoor lights); guests are liable for any light trespass onto neighboring properties. Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m. Guests must follow the Good Neighbor Policy and may not engage in illegal activity. No A/C — the home relies on natural mountain airflow and provided portable fans. (Optional to include, but worth setting expectations for summer stays.) STR Permit #001896

The cabin was excellent and had everything we needed for our week long stay. The hot tub was nice to have after a day of hiking. Would love to stay again!
House was great! Cozy, and welcoming. They had music and lights on and everything was spotless and perfect. Jacuzzi out back was hot and ready to go, and the fireplace was a perfect touch for the cold winter night!

The Shabby Shack
This home is a shabby Shack. We did not stay there. I told the property manager what he needs to know.

Family and Fido friendly!
The location and amenities were perfect and the yard is very safe for dogs.
Very nice place to stay. Some issues: it's not obvious how to turn the lights on the deck. The bathroom can't be locked from the inside. Not enough wine glasses for 5 people.
