Vintage Chandelier, Beautiful Linens: The Flat Is Southern Elegance At Its Best

Amazing historic home with incredible details. It was the famous home of Storyville madame Josie Arlington who ran the most popular brothel in the city.

The studio is located on the west side of the estate has its own private entrance.. It was the former music room and some say they can still hear the echo of faint music when they sleep. The studio itself is open, with high ceilings, huge windows and custom drapery. It has a flat screen tv, original artwork, and a queen size bed.

About Nicelle Herrington

I have lived in a lot of places and I can honestly say that New Orleans is unlike any other city. It's a special place. My husband was raised in New Orleans and for most of our adult lives we have kept a second home here. We recently decided to make New Orleans our full-time home because we wanted to be part of the creative community here. We own a small film company 'Nom De Guerre Films' and do Southern inspired projects. We live in the main house of the estate and I do believe that since we have so much experience traveling, we know exactly how to make any traveler feel comfortable. We are available for questions, recommendations, and love sharing tips on this amazing city!

Why Nicelle Herrington chose New Orleans

When we decided to make New Orleans our full-time home, we knew we wanted to have a property that really embodies the South, that captures that Southern charm... When we came upon this property, it was love at first site. It was the residence of the infamous Madame of Storyville Jose Arlington. We we felt like we were owning a piece of history.

What makes this studio unique

Staying on the estate of the notorious Storyville Madame Josie Arlington ... Where else can you do that?

We like luxury, so we want to provide that for you too. Upon check-in you will receive complimentary items to make your stay seamless: shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry supplies, toilet paper, bottled water, espresso, and wine.

The location cannot be beat. The mansion is just steps from Jazz fest. You will enjoy every moment of the festival without a moment spent in traffic. You can come and go from the festival as you wish. We can provide a parking pass upon request.

The flat is also close to many charming restaurants in the area...really just steps away. Here are some of my favorites:

-Cafe Degas was rated in the top 15 New Orleans restaurants by the Travel Channel.

-Liuzza's By the Track is called 'legendary' by Zagat. My favorite there is gumbo or red beans and rice.

-Lola's was quoted to have 'Superb' paella by Zagat and I agree! It's absolutely delicious.

-Swirl Wine Bar and Market has nothing but wonderful reviews on UrbanSpoon. I love to walk over in the evening and get a glass wine. The owner finds the most amazing wines from small vineyards around the world.

-Morning Call in City Park has the best beignets and Cafe Au Lait has reviews on Yelp saying it tops Cafe Du Mond. I love to walk over and start my day with a steaming hot beignet in the park.

There are many interesting things to do nearby. One of the famous cemeteries is just up the street. You can also hire a pedicab to take you along Esplanade to the exquisite French Quarter that's very close.

Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was perfect for my visit to New Orleans over Mardi Gras. The apartment was light and airy, well-renovated. It is just off Esplanade, walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants. My son and I walked from there to the Zulu parade in the Treme, and we had a blast. The owners were low key and easily reachable. Internet and TV were all up to snuff. I travel to NOLA quite a bit, and from here on out I will be checking for these properties first before any other.

Wonderful Weekend

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I usually stay either downtown New Orleans or in our favorite neighborhood Lake View in New Orleans. This particular weekend our favorite places were not available and so we went on VRBO and tooka chance. We were very pleased with our accomodations becuase not only was the location perfect but the picture did not describe just how charming the studio is. The owner more than went out of their way to make sure that we felt welcome and had everything we needed for our stay.

Amazing Owners and Chic Space

  • 5 of 5

Nicelle, the owner, is very accommodating and set up this space beautifully for us. We rented the entire property; both this intimate, and modern-romantic studio space and property 574517 next door which together accommodated our group celebrating my husband's birthday. The saltwater pool in the courtyard was a perfect way to end our three-day trip! A perfect location for groups that like walking a bit to the Quarter or Frenchman Street for music. Parking on the street was very easy, and we didn't move our car the entire visit. There are cute cafes and a quaint grocery store just down the street. We can't wait to return!

Urban Chic

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we drove up we knew we would have an exceptional stay. My wife and I frequent New Orleans and have stayed and some extremely nice rentals in the French Quarter but by far this was the best New Orleans feel. We were in a very vibrant part of town and felt like true locals. The apartment was well decorated, supplied with the essentials and more, and you couldn't ask for more warm host. If you are coming in for the Jazz Fest you are walking distance to the horse track and if you are going for events in the quarter you are a 10 minute bus ride. We would stay again without a doubt.

A Stylish Mardi Gras

  • 5 of 5

A very stylish apartment in a very attractive area and a very welcoming hostess - it was great. I would definately stay here again and recommend to friends. Only drawbacks: it could do with a chest of draws for storage.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and found the apartment beautiful. I do agree about the chest of drawers, it's currently on back order but if it doesn't come in soon I'll just purchase something else. Thank you so much for your feedback and I enjoyed meeting you. Come back and stay sometime soon!

New Orleans is known for many amazing festivals and events. We are steps away from the Race Track where Jazz fest takes place. We are also a few blocks from City Park where Hogs for a Cause and Voodoo Fest are. Just a stroll down the street are some great little neighborhood gems like Liuzza' s By the Track, Swirl, and a few other great places. This area is truly special where you could have the true New Orleans experience!
