Potomac Rvr Woodland Cottage, Polite Pets welcomed, Central Air, Stunning Sunset

Fully renovated with stunning sunset views over the Potomac River in the front and woodland to the rear. A spotless single-level home less than 2 hours from D.C. Located across the street from the Potomac River Time stands still at Tall Timbers an almost forgotten Maryland treasure. Two of the three bedrooms are furnished as bedrooms. The third is used as a den with an ambiance fireplace, Smart TV and fold-out bed to supplement the living room sofa-bed. Well-trained polite pets are welcomed with advance written approval provided you agree to pay for any extra cleaning or damage charges incurred.

This modern and year-round retreat is equipped with linens and any other items you might expect in a well-equipped home, including bikes, puzzles, a Keurig coffee maker, Smart TVs with local channels, Wi-Fi, and fast internet. We are uniquely located 3 miles east of the Piney Point/ St. George's Island Bridge not far from where the Potomac River flows into the Chesapeake Bay.

There is an outdoor fire ring for wood fires, and the ambience of a faux fireplaces in the den and dining room. All windows are screened and open if you want to feel the breezes off the river and listen to the chorus of bird songs.

An easement runs along the side of our home to the water's edge however the slippery bulkhead stones make entry difficult. The best launch spot is at the marina or one of the many creeks or parks. Fishing and Crabbing for our famous Maryland Blue Crabs is a popular activity in our local Herring Creek. The village of Tall Timbers and the Marina are both easy walks. Picking up boxed lunches or great steaks at Wm Dents Grocery is a tradition. You will find a local watering hole and cafe in the back of the grocery. The famous Reluctant Navigator is at the Marina.

The Historic St Mary’s City (interpretive park), beaches, docks, lighthouse, and bridge at Piney Point and St. George's Island are all a short drive. We are happy to assist you in booking fishing charters or cruising the Potomac with a qualified waterman.

A lovely small home on a quiet street in a quiet village. The layout of the house is very comfortable, the property was very clean and the hosts, Lolly and Lindley, very welcoming and helpful. It also has one of the best equipped kitchens I’ve encountered via VRBO. We came with our dog who is just finishing a recovery from surgery and neighborhood was perfect for taking her on longer walks.

We had a wonderful experience and stay at this cute little cottage. Hosts were amazing as well. Cottage has everything you need. Cute decor, plenty of cookware, towels, linens, TV with streaming and comfortable couch. Communication with host was outstanding and easy check-in and check-out. Tall Timbers Cottage

This was our second stay to visit family nearby for our annual 4th of July gathering. The cottage is clean, cozy, and comfortable. The owners are fantastic communicators and made sure we had everything we needed. We won’t hesitate to stay again in the future.

Very nice property. Beautiful area.

We spent two nights with kids. Great for social distancing. Marina was great too. The beach is not for swimming with kids, but Point Lookout is about 40 minutes drive and family friendly.

I recently spent a weekend at this property with my family and my 2 dogs. The cottage is a little jewel that exceeded our expectations. Weekend getaway

We had some hiccups with a storm taking out the power (and subsequently water, cable/internet) for the first 24 hours of our stay. The property manager kept us updated and helped by providing water. Frustrating and inconvenient situation, but not at fault of the host or property managment!As for the house, it was cozy with adequate space for our family of 4 and 2 dogs. It was well equipped and had everyrhing we needed and was situated in a great little neighborhood on the Potomac. We were in town for a swim meet, but would definitely come back for a quiet getaway to rest, relax and enjoy all the area has to offer.

This cottage is cute. The beach is more accessible via car - unless you're willing to walk through other people's back yard/pier. The dining table is great for entertaining. The rooms are a little tight but functional. Ideally a good place to rent for parents with 2-4 kids. Good and safe neighborhood.

Relaxing getaway!

Excellent experience from start to finish. Owner was communicative, welcoming and very helpful. Property in a very quiet neighborhood with amazing views of the Potomac River right across the street from the house (you can walk over and stand by river to see gorgeous views especially at sunset). Property is as described. Very clean, fully equipped kitchen, linens and towels provided. Lovely cottage - perfect size for our family of four plus our dog.

This Tall Timbers bungalow delivers

I cannot say enough positive things about this rental. The home itself is adorable and exactly as represented in the photos attached to the owners' description. Tall Timbers itself is a tiny sleepy, waterfront community in a beautiful area of southern Maryland. We were there off-season so the marina and other area attractions were closed, but it was still a relaxing getaway. The owners are fantastic and very communicative and helpful. It is clear they take great pride in this property and enjoy "meeting" those who come to stay.

We stayed at this home June 2006 for two weeks. It was everything we were looking for in a vaca home. We have been coming to the the area for over 4 years and were tired of hotels. This was home away from home. Peaceful, friendly neighbors and very relaxing. It is a short drive to many attractions ie: Lookout Point, Solomon's Island, Historic St. Mary's City, Clavert Cliffs and much more. We are looking forward to our next vaca in Maryland and hope to rent the house again. I would highly recommend this property to everyone who would be coming to St. Mary's County on work, vaca or some R&R.

Relaxing weekend

Lolly and Lindley's place was perfect for our family of 4, for a peaceful, relaxing weekend away from the city. There are many fun day trips, including an affordable boat tour from the Calvert Marine Museum. Make sure to try Kim’s Key Lime Pies and Lotus Kitchen on Solomons Island. I think there's a few breweries and wineries in the area as well. If you're coming from the DC area, think about taking a different route there and back for more scenery. We used the house minimally for sleeping overnight during a family reunion trip and it was great for that purpose. Everything was immaculately clean and organized. The owner communicated with us about everything we needed to know and was so attentive to addressing anything we had a hard time with quickly. Rob and Lolly were so friendly and welcoming. Pros:- amazing books and cds collection as well as board games. - plenty of room to store shoes. - everything is stocked. There’s plenty of pot, pans, sponges, soap, detergents for all machines, toilet paper, shampoos, …. Etc. Cons:- when used at maximum capacity storage can feel a bit limited. We were 6 adults and 2 kids, and we mostly had to keep our stuff in our luggage the entire time. - the outdoor area is gorgeous but there’s a lot of mosquitoes because of the many trees.

Beautiful, low key getaway!

We booked last minute when we saw there was a cancellation over a holiday weekend. Lolly was super responsive and helpful, and the house was adorable, convenient, and just what we were looking for. Tall Timbers is made for families, and the little beach and kid-friendly marina restaurant were perfect for our toddler. We had a problem with the cable- which we only cared about because it was raining!- and Lolly called and helped us work if out. We never did get the Internet working, but we played outside and didn't mind since we were having so much fun as a family. The house has everything you need, the kitchen has all the extras, and the only thing we'd recommend is stopping for groceries on your way in.

Tall Timbers is a sleepy waterfront community where people pass slow summer days. Huge rockfish are caught in the creeks and crabs from set traps . The adventures are as stunning in the winter, as they are during the summer.

During the winter the community is magical and can be a winter wonderland. Fall colors are magnificent, especially when you realize you are not the one to rake the leaves. Just watch them fall. Be on the lookout for last minute deep discounts on midweek - midwinter visits.

The National Potomac Heritage Scenic Trail is at our front door, there is a wide variety of wildlife and beautiful vistas of Herring Creek and the Potomac River can be seen along this trail. Experienced paddlers may continue onto the open waters of the Potomac River.

Bird watchers may love in love with the creeks.

Explore the many nearby historic parks such Colonial St. Mary's City, Light Houses at Point Look Out and Piney Point, the Maritime Museums at Soloman's Island and Piney Point. Chose from several wonderful local watering holes with fabulous views and docks.
