Overview

About the property

1 1/2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

If you love a small but creative and well-appointed beach house directly on the water - one with modern amenities and an amazing screened porch, Kentigern's 'Shed' (built on the site of the former shed) is for you (1 queen bedroom plus one queen murphy bed and one bath). This 2 story modern beach house is newly built and perfect for a couple or a small party. The house has everything you really need for a relaxing weekend away or vacation.

Situated directly on Chesapeake, hear the waves while you cook, read or relax; see diverse wildlife including, herons, swans, ospreys, bald eagles, and pelicans through expansive glass windows or from the screened-in porch. Or, grab a beach chair or towel and head for the sandy beach. With two kayaks and 2 bicycles provided with the rental (more can be rented for an additional fee, if needed), Kentigern's Shed is a spot you won't want to leave. Enjoy local oysters, a weekend wine tasting at nearby Woodlawn plantation, kayak, fish, sunbathe or just kick back and relax.

A short-bike ride away is Point Lookout State Park, a Civil War site. Today the park, which is located at the intersection of the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping or enjoying nature as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Or charter a boat at one of many local marinas for a day of fishing on the Bay. Another nearby historical site is St. Mary's City (10 miles), the original capital of Maryland. Visitors are 25 minutes from dining and shopping on Solomon's Island or in historic Leonardtown. Or enjoy one of several local marina restaurants. Want a day trip away? All that the nation's capital has to offer is a short 80 miles away.

Collect shells and beach glass while walking miles along the sandy beach. So close to Washington and other major cities, yet so far!

Terrific tiny house to get away from the crowd

  • 5 of 5

The great weather helped, but Kentigern's Shed is a very well appointed, charming, creatively designed small space. It immediately lifted the spirits of a normally surly teenager who accompanied this mom for a mom/daughter weekend. Such a cute house--it provided a perfect space for snuggling during movie watching, long conversations, and some creative cooking. Kicking a soccer ball on the beach was a wonderful way to spend a sunny day, and the open windows at night provided a perfect backdrop for late night movie watching.

Being 3.7 miles away from Point Lookout State Park gave me the perfect destination for a nice run, and lots of ideas for another trip in the future.

Well done to the owners, would love to see before-and-after photos of the property!

Cheers

Z

Love the Kentigern shed!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time at this neat little cottage. The views of the bay from literally every room are wonderful. The house is always clean and well stocked and the two beds a very comfortable. This time there were two swans residing in the pond behind the house---they are so lovely to watch. We simply love this place and plan to go back as soon as possible.

Relaxing and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a long weekend. Beach was great and house nice. I have stayed here previously and appreciate the home improvements. Addition of small deck overlooking the Bay is great and I enjoyed my morning coffee and watching the sunrise there each morning. Removal of lower wall on screened in porch allows one to see the water while lounging in chairs. The sofa and ottoman improve the seating in living area. Will return again.

Far from a "Shed"

  • 5 of 5

This tiny property is perfect for a couple who want a beachside getaway for a few nights. Impressive from the outside, with clever use of space inside - this is not your traditional beach cottage. There are plywood walls accented with corrugated tin, bright red kitchen cabinets, and funky accents. Situated at the quiet southen-most tip of Maryland the location could not be better. The property sits right on the beach and with a due East view across the Chesapeake, the sunrise is not to be missed. Fully outfitted with bikes and canoes and with small and quiet beach options this is the idea antidote to the daily grind. With a super responsive management team this is the perfect getaway. How perfect? We re-booked the property before we left.
