The house was so lovely and cozy and well-maintained.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The owners are extremely nice and kind and helpful and thanks to them we felt immediately at home. The Uptown neighborhood is terrific and filled with great shops and places to eat. Beautiful Audubon Park is just two short streets away. The house is a true gem!

Owner's Response: We feel so fortunate to have had Martha and Gary stay with us. They are the real gems ! We try to provide a sense of home away from home for our guests. We feel like they became family. We look forward to having them come back next year !

The location is ideal and the house is quite quiet despite the proximity to Magazine Street.

We loved being walking distance to the Park and Zoo. The rear patio is lovely and there is a good deal of space. It was ideal for our family of 4.

Absolutely New Orleans

  • 5 of 5

Charming shotgun house from from to back, full of furnishings from the past . You have to walk through all rooms to get to the back. A lot of space. It was perfect being uptown as I was from New Orleans and close to Tulane and Audubon Park on the riverside of Saint Charles just off Magazine. Neighborhood was perfect due to proximity and easy transit everywhere and walking distance to various restaurants and shops and food stores. Could not say enough about Anne (host) and her super help during our stay of close to one month. Loved it.

Amazing house in Amazing Location

  • 5 of 5

We loved this home. First, the house itself is really cool, comfortabe, and updated. The beds and sofa are really comfortable. The bathrooms and kitchen are nice and modern. Second, the neighborhood is top notch. You are one block from the park. We went everyday with my 4 and 1 year olds. The walk to food, coffee, and Whole Foods is also really short. We will definitely book this home the next time we go to NOLA.

Perfect rental

  • 4 of 5

As has been stated many times, the location of this "shotgun" style house is perfect for all Uptown activities. It is right off of Magazine with several bars and restaurants in walking distance and a jillion others a very short drive past that. Audobon Park is next door and Tulane is a short drive. There's offstreet parking and plenty of on street parking, as well. The neighborhood is safe (for New Orleans).

The half duplex is the typical "shotgun" layout and the rooms are generous in size. The place was clean and well equipped. The furniture, including the beds, was comfortable and in excellent shape. The decor was lovely and there's a great eclectic collection of books in the racks. My only knock was that the description states there is a single bed daybed in the "office". That's a bit of a stretch-- it's more of a chaise couch with a pretty small surface and thin cushion. This is best suited for a small child. It was not the end of the world for us: our two teenage daughters shared the queen in the second bedroom. But if you are planning on having an adult in the "office", I would think twice.

Overall, I would highly recommend this duplex house and do so without additional reservations.

Charming and comfortable; great location.

This apartment at 812 Henry Clay is delightful. Anne is an artist, and it shows in the decor and overall atmosphere of the apartment. There are beautiful antiques in each room and interesting art, reading material, and decoration scattered throughout.

The apartment is quintessential New Orleans. It is a shotgun, which means that you have to walk through each room to get through the house (except in the back, where the second bedroom and bathroom are on the other side of the divided house with complete privacy). So, one of the bedrooms/bathrooms is in the middle of the parade of rooms. If you are turned off by this arrangement, you should look very carefully at all the accommodations you consider in New Orleans, because it is very common! There is a TV in each bedroom as well as in the living room, and there is a comfortable seating area off the kitchen, by the back bedroom, so it is quite easy to manage the needs of those people staying awake while other people choose to sleep.

The apartment is very well located near Audubon Park and Tulane University, as well as the wonderful shopping on Magazine Street. Downtown and the French Quarter are easily accessible. We go to New Orleans frequently because we have children in school at Tulane, and we hope to stay at 812 Henry Clay on future trips.
