About Jimmy Edwards

Welcome to Tybee Island! I am a proud native Savannah-ian! Savannah and Tybee Island have grown and changed a lot over the years, all for the better! When I was a kid, they called this Savannah Beach! When my mom was younger, they held dances on the pavilion, which has since burned and has now been replaced by the Tybee Pier and Pavilion. Savannah was established in 1733, so there is much history to be found in our beautiful downtown too! I am continuing the family tradition with my wife and two sons (8 and 17 months) by ensuring they enjoy the benefits of coastal living too. The photo of me and my son were taken on the Back River at Tybee.

We purchased this property as a second home and investment property in 2004. We began renting the Tybee Island Pelican Drive house last year (2013) with great success and have expanded that to both downstairs units this year. This house is used by our family, and we enjoy it quite a bit. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this condo unique

The Pelican house is true Tybee living at its best. The house is backed by Chimney Creek, a tidal creek. The creek has six feet of water at high tide and goes completely dry at low tide, exhibiting the extreme tide changes that we experience at Tybee. You can fish and crab out of your back door or just enjoy the sun on the secluded floating dock. Out of the front door, you have the beautiful marsh and coastal winds 24 hours a day.

Awesome little cottage!

The cottage was very cute from the outside & plenty of room for parking. I think there are three condos, but when I stayed only one other person was there & only for one night, so I had the place to myself.

It had everything I needed & was very clean & nice. It is only about a 5 min drive to the ocean & honestly, staying away from the crowds a bit was perfect.

The only cons I found were related to my dog. If the owners put 2 strips of fencing along the house, the backyard could be advertised as "fenced". It would have been nice, but definitely not necessary. Secondly, the neighborhood is odd. One really nice house & then a burned down structure the next. The residents let their dogs roam & that is not good for someone like me whose dog is not great with other animals.

Outside of those two things, the condo was the perfect size for me & my best friend as well as my dog to stay. The screened in porch was awesome! Jimmy was very responsive too.

Nice, Clean, Comfortable.

This is a simple cottage with basic provisions. It was perfect for our weekend fishing trip.

We were very comfortable and enjoyed the property with no real issues. Bed is comfortable, a/c works good, shower is nice, porch has a nice view, parking was convienent neighbors were quiet. If you are super picky the items to note are 1. There is no dishwasher (not a problem for us) 2. The porch light was out but just needs a bulb. 3. The mini blinds are damaged and really need to be replaced 4. The drip pans on the stove really need to be replaced and 5. The sofa does not pull out to make a bed but is large and comfortable. We will rent here again.

Would definitely stay again. Was nice because we weren't able to stay for the whole week. They worked with us on our days. It was nice being able to have our dogs there with us.

Clean, but Much Smaller than Advertised and Poor Customer Service

When we arrived, another guest was already in our condo. The owner rejected my phone calls repeatedly, only sending an auto text saying "can't talk right now" each time. When I did get ahold of him, he told me he was at a school event for his son which I understand. The least he could have done is responded "I'll call you back in xxx minutes" so we weren't left thinking we were stranded or scammed. The owner realized that the other guest let himself in to the wrong condo, and offered for us to stay and wait for the other guest to return, move to the correct room, and have a cleaning crew come out that night (meaning a total waste of our first evening) OR we could take the nicer room upstairs but then we would have to interrupt our second full day (of only two) at the beach so we could switch to the correct condo because it had already been reserved for the last day of our trip. We chose the latter because we were starving and didn't want to delay getting our trip started anymore than the hours we already wasted thinking the other guest was the "cleaning crew" preparing our room. (We tried calling hotels in the area so we wouldn't have to worry about changing in the middle, but everyone was either booked or triple the price.) The upstairs unit was nicer, but neither of the condos we stayed in were suited for four adults as I indicated would be coming for the trip when I placed the reservation. The upstairs unit at least had a king bed the other three could share and I slept on the couch, but the stairs were brutal because I had just had surgery. We ended up wasting our second day on the beach because we had to wait for the cleaning crew to finish before we could move all our stuff and of course a huge storm blew through first thing in the afternoon. I know that's not their fault, but we could have enjoyed the whole morning had we not had to deal with their screw up. The downstairs unit (which was supposed to be ours from day one) had a full sized bed - not even a queen, a couch, and a love seat (neither of which pulled out). I literally had to sleep sitting up because only two could fit on the bed. For all the hassle we went through, the owner literally told us the upgraded condo was his "compensation" for the mistake. Even the upgraded condo didn't sleep four adults and we definitely didn't get what we paid for. I won't make this mistake again.
