About the property

3 bedroom 2 bath Oceanfront, chef's kitchen, wifi, 50 steps to tide pools

Captain's Quarters is spacious, and very clean. This ground-level condo has two steps up into it, and provides a fabulous view of the beach! The front room is welcoming with its gas fireplace, two recliners and sleeper sofa for two. The master bedroom is on the ocean side and has a queen bed and large shower/bath. The kitchen has all appliances and conveniences to serve a full meal or a snack, and a table that seats 6-8. The other two bedrooms are on the street side and are nautically-themed. One has a king bed, and the other a queen bed. The main bathroom is sparkling clean with a tub and shower for your convenience. A 'sitting room' marks the entrance, where wet shoes, coats, and towels can be placed, to keep things tidy.

No smoking in the condo or balcony. No pets or service animals in our private condo. No seafood cooking inside the condo, please.

It's very easy to step outside and enjoy the ocean air and sights from the convenience of the lawn, downlooking from the bluff to view the tide pools and people on the beach below.

BRING BINOCULARS on your trip! From here, you can watch ships, whales, people, birds, and vehicles stuck in the sand...great fun!

For your planning purposes: our rates are based on occupancy. Extra guests over the number of two cost only $10/person/night, and are quoted in your price when you mention total persons in your party. This makes our condo affordable for couples or families. If you arrive with additional guests who are undeclared, our extra person charge is $20/person/night.

Bring your own BBQ to enjoy at the beach, or bring some starter wood to light a campfire on the beach! (The driftwood is often wet and hard to start without dry wood from home!).

Captain's Quarters is ideally located between the Pacific Ocean and Lincoln City. Drive down the ramp to spin a few doughnuts in the sand or beachcomb for miles in either direction! Walk 1/4 mile to town to enjoy pizza, ice cream cones, Pier 101 seafood, Thai, Chinese or Mexican food and stroll through souvenir and thrift shops.

About Teresa Reich

We are a family of six who love the beach! Fifteen years ago, we bought a sailboat and took our kids sailing in the Caribbean for a year. The experience was priceless on many levels! We brought home a love for warm oceans and boats and all things nautical.

Teresa Reich purchased this condo in 2014

Why Teresa Reich chose Lincoln City

Location, location, location! Captain's Quarters has the exploding horizon of sand and surf, which is always interesting, no matter the weather. No more beachfront is being made, so this unique cliffside condo with a fabulous view is a treasure to us.

What makes this condo unique

Since it is perched on the low sea cliff, we can enjoy winter storms and balmy summer breezes in the condo. Or campfires and long walks on the beach. An oceanfront condo with a fireplace is the best place to be in the world!

Beach access is via 50 gentle stairs (with one handrail) or a paved ramp to drive down! In fact, during April - Sept, many cars gather on the beach (right below the condo) when the tide is out! But twice a day, the tide rolls in, and clears everybody out!!! Bring a bundle of firewood from home. It's state-owned property and perfectly legal to have a beach fire without any permit! 'Keep the fire small as a lawn chair and west of the vegetation line and extinquish with water, not sand.' (Oregon State Parks rules) Bring roasting sticks and marshmallows and hot-dogs and you'll have a very fun and memorable meal :) Chinook Winds Casino operates a shuttle bus, which comes right past our condo. Call the driver at 541 921-5100 to schedule pickup. The shuttle leaves the casino every hour, on the hour. and traverses Lincoln City down to the south end of town to Mo's Restaurant at 51st St, then returns on NW Harbor (our street). Operates weekends only, Fri/Sat 4p-2a, Sun 4p-midnight.

Great condo with an amazing view. Kitchen was very well stocked, heating was great and we had wonderful views of sunsets and beachwalkers. Everything we needed was there and handy - thank you so much for a great New Years!

Wonderful Thanksgiving Stay

  • 5 of 5

Very much enjoyed the Captain's Quarter. We've stayed at several homes/hotels, etc., in Lincoln City over the years, and this is probably the best quality home for the money that we've stayed at. Convenient location, very clean, spacious, nicely furnished with comfortable couches and recliners, and a very functional kitchen. For kids, no need to bring beach toys as they had a great variety of buckets, kites, etc. For WiFi, we had probably 4-6 devices on it at any given time and we experienced few if any disruptions, which was great (I actually brought a Roku to stream Netflix to the TV, and it worked seamlessly through the WiFi). The view is of course amazing, and the beach access couldn't be easier. The condo is part of a hotel of sorts, and so there is an on-site manager. That came in handy when we needed extra blankets, etc. Parking was fine. There's two spots you get with this rental, but there's not specific spots per-se, and instead you park anywhere within the hotel parking lot. Long story short, I'm glad we booked the Captain's Quarters, and I absolutely plan on coming back!

Great location!

  • 3 of 5

As stated in the owner's description, this condo is located in a very convenient location. The view is amazing and the beach is wonderful for walking or beach combing. The cars being stuck in the sand does provide a lot of entertainment. The rooms are a nice size and the furniture is comfortable. (Wish both recliners were in front of the windows though) Appreciated the gas fireplace as it was chilly in the evenings. Also, recommend Thai Bay restaurant, excellent food and service. Took in a play at the local theater, which we really enjoyed.

Beautiful condo with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This condo was extremely spacious and comfortable. It had great views out the living room window, and very comfortable chairs to sit in. It was close to the beach and shopping/town, which made it really convenient to walk and get groceries with kids in tow. The property manager Mike was amazing and checked on us daily to see if there was anything we needed. He was especially kind to our three year old son, chatting with him and asking him what adventures he was going on that day. :)

Teresa was very kind during our communications up to arriving at the condo. She kept us well informed of anything going on in the area that we needed to be aware of, and accommodated all of our needs for traveling with an infant and toddler. She was always very responsive to any questions or inquiries, and very welcoming. One of my favorite things about the property was that there was a laundry facility on site - that makes it so much easier to travel with kids (especially a 3 month old that tends to mess up clothing pretty frequently). Also, there was plenty to do in Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, and Newport without having to drive very far. The best coffee shop that we found was Pirate Coffee on the way to Depoe Bay.

There were only two minor downsides to the condo. First was that the fireplace didn't work and it got pretty chilly some days. Mike tried to fix it, as did we, but something just wasn't right. Second was that it got pretty noisy with neighbors above us, as this is a ground floor unit. During the time we were there, three separate families stayed above us, and some were more disruptive than others stomping across the floor until late at night. It was enough to wake our 3 month old son multiple times. I would recommend picking a second floor unit if you're traveling with small children or infants.

All in all, I highly recommend this property. It was beautiful inside and out, and a lot of fun to stay at! Would definitely stay here again when coming through town.

Captains Quarters is in the upscale Oceanlake Historic District, conveniently located close to a ramp to actually drive onto the beach sand! The Chinook Winds Casino and Convention Center is just 2 miles north, with an indoor golf resort, seafood dining, concerts and entertainment, and 23 table games.

The local Chamber of Commerce sponsors a fun program called 'Finders Keepers' and annually hides 3000 hand blown glass sand dollars and Japanese sea floats along the 7 1/2 miles of Lincoln City beach! Be sure to walk the beach in front of your condo and look along the cliffs and among the grass and driftwood for these valuable collector items!

Lincoln City is home to the 'D River', the shortest river in the world. That river drains westward from Devil's Lake into the Pacific Ocean. Fishing on Devils Lake happens at Blue Heron Landing, just south of Hwy 101 at West Devils Lake Road. 541-994-4708. They rent supply bait and other equipment. Canoes, kayaks, motor boats, pontoon, hydrobikes and jet skiing also can be rented.

Ten miles south of Lincoln City is an exit for Boiler Bay State Park. It is famous for incredible ocean views, as well as one of the best places to spot migrating and resident gray whales.

Thirteen miles south of Lincoln City...turn right onto Otter Crest Loop for a more direct ocean drive. Off this Loop is also Cape Foulweather Visitor Center and Devils Punchbowl State Park, so named as at high tide, seawater swirls within a cavern appearing like a punchbowl. This park features 180-degree ocean views, whale sightings, fascinating rock formations, and is very popular with surfers and surf watchers. After a stop here, continue south on Otter Crest Loop to rejoin US-101

Just 30 miles south is the town of Newport on Yaquina Bay, with it's working fleet of fishing vessels, plus sea lions basking on the docks and dozens of quaint bayfront shops and curio stores and restaurants.

World-famous Oregon Coast Aquarium is also located in Newport, as well as the Maritime Museum and the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Two lighthouses, at Yaquina Bay State Park and Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, are also here in Newport.

Your days will be delightful, whether beach combing for glass floats or shopping or dining or reading in front of the fireplace!
