Two rentals on this property.....for you and your family only.
River Ridge Guest Ranch is located in Palominas, AZ just 90 miles southeast of Tucson nestled in the scenic San Pedro River Valley. The 30-acre property was purchased in 1996 and the main house was built from our own design with an emphasis on bringing the outdoors in. We incorporated the same design aesthetics when we built the guest cottage in 2004. And the ranch’s location with an elevation of 4200' makes for a moderate and pleasant climate all year 'round.
The handicapped-accessible, 1-bedroom custom, ranch-style guest cottage can accommodate virtually any sized group, in a non-smoking environment. You don’t even have to worry about the silverware or pots and pans, we’ve got you covered! The cottage features a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher and gas range….along with a well-stocked storage pantry. The great room features a cozy wood-burning stove for your enjoyment. The spacious bedroom offers southwest decor and a Queen-sized bed…. and a full-sized sleeper sofa is ready for your tag-a-longs. The bathroom has a wheel-chair accessible shower, and full laundry facilities are available for your use. For your convenience we provide you with laundry detergent, iron and board, a hair dryer and small personal items i.e. shampoos, lotions, toothbrushes, razors and sunscreen.
RRGR is on 30 acres and is set up for you to bring your horses...plenty of maneuvering room for oversized rigs. Whether you are just passing through and need an over-night spot to turn your critters out, or want an extended stay to get away from the heat or the cold, this is the place for you. The barn has two stalls with 30'X80' exterior attached pens and a 20-acre pasture for turnout...plus a round pen. Ride on the National Riparian Area just out 'the backdoor' of the cottage or trailer a short distance to the Huachuca Mountains and explore miles of trails. The guest ranch is adjacent to the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area which is home to hundreds of species of birds, mammals, reptiles and butterflies. Within walking distance is the Lehner's Prehistoric Mammoth Kill Site.
Your cozy getaway is also near Ramsey Canyon Preserve (the hummingbird capital of the west), the old mining town of Bisbee, and Tombstone, the “town too tough to die”. We are near Fort Huachuca with its Historical Museum, Kartchner Caverns, and the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson. Tom is a docent at the Air Museum and can take you on a guided walking tour.
Outside, relax in the jacuzzi with a glass of wine or iced tea while you take in the unobstructed view of the valley and the emerald green cottonwood trees lining the river. You will enjoy the entertaining antics of the hummers at their feeders. Follow along with our numerous local and visiting avian friends stopping by for a snack, along with numerous members of the mammal and reptilian families. Also, you’ll appreciate the carport and the covered, wrap-around porch. The bunkhouse (camper/trailer) is also available for additional family/guests. And, there is ample room for any size RV….electric and water hookups are available...... (free dump stations in Sierra Vista). Marvel at our authentic, 1890's sheepherder's wagon which sleeps 2 on a full-sized bed...nestled near the campfire area. Or slumber away atop cots on the porch, or try sleeping under the starry western sky around the campfire.
A petting zoo is available for your family's enjoyment. Cuddle with the bunnies and romp with our three dwarf goats. Chickens, dogs, horses and turtles await your attentive faces. Enjoy a hayride or take a little excursion on the 1952 Ford 8N farm tractor. Walk, jog, bike or ride the golf cart on the .7 mile groomed track around the pasture. Like to try kayaking? We will gladly tote you up to Parker Lake in the Huachuca Mountains where you can also hike, fish, paddle boat, picnic, birdwatch....or to Patagonia Lake where in addition you can waterski and jetski.......leashed pets are welcome.
Old western history abounds around your guest cottage in Cochise County....Apache Territory, home to Cochise and Geronimo. Come on by.....stay awhile.

Horse Rig/RV: (guest provides): with power & water hookup....$25 per night + $10 per head (includes horses on pasture)

Why Kim and Tom Collins chose Sierra Vista Southeast
Tom and I feel extremely lucky to have found this bare land for sale in 1996 with its eastern fenceline adjoining the riparian area of the San Pedro River. With unobstructed views of the river, the Huachuca and Mule Mountains and the entire valley, we remind ourselves daily of our good fortune to live in such a beautiful and peaceful place. Because we feel so very lucky to have found this amazing property, we want to share our little piece of heaven with you! If we don't see you in the future, we'll see you in the pasture! This stay was an amazing experience. The location is so beautiful and serene. The house is extremely clean and well appointed. Kim and Tom have thought of anything you might need and have even gone above the call of duty and supplied snacks, wine and quiche! My daughter was thrilled to visit the chickens, goats and horses. I enjoyed the many birds at the feeders. The hot tub was also very enjoyable.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We felt welcome and comfortable.
We were greeted with a cozy fire in the wood stove. The kitchen was stocked with fresh quiche, farm-fresh eggs, wine, candy and snacks!
It was wonderful to wake up to the sun each morning -- and the birds, happily feeding at their feeders outside the kitchen window.
Since we have animals at home, it's always nice to be able to visit with some when we're away, as we always miss ours. The horses, goats and chickens did not disappoint!
Soaking in the private jacuzzi out back was the perfect way to start your day or relax at the end of one.
We highly recommend River Ridge Guest Ranch! The cottage and hospitality can't be beat!
Hidden gem offers more than words can describe with incredible hosts!
If you need to rest, relax, and recharge, look no further! First, you must know that Kim & Tom are the most amazing hosts! They truly make it a trip to remember from sharing their talents, hobbies, & knowledge to every attention to detail. Kim is abundantly artistic and shares her love for all things nature. While Tom, has a vault of interesting stories and can excite anyone with his love for aviation, especially as he has first hand knowledge on the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson.
We experienced many firsts in our 4 night stay.... Up close we saw: a tarantula, Giant Dessert Centepede, Scorpion, Red Velvet Ants, Wood Peckers, Doves, Finches, Road Runners, Cotton Tail Rabbits, Jack Rabbits, Quails, Larry the Lizzard, more Humming Birds & Butterflies than anyone can count! And to hear the coyote howl at night was utterly wild! Not to mention Cody the horse, Wilbur the goat, and the chickens.... fresh eggs! What is there not to love?!?! The pantry is well stocked as is the hall closet with all the little things you might forget to pack.....and some really fun family friendly board & card games. Hot tub under the endless sky of stars will make you lose track of time while a campfire just adds that much needed relaxed feel. Kids (including us big kids too!) will enjoy the final touch of an 1800's covered wagon...where else can you find this??? The final touch is the view of mountains in almost all directions- just purely majestic! We are most definitely returning - hopefully much sooner than later especially as our kids didn't want to leave to go home!
Everything was perfect
Everything was prepared perfectly for our stay, will come again!
Amazing! The pictures don't do it justice. Every little detail is perfect.
My husband and our 2 dogs stayed here for the weekend; wish it had been longer. The place is immaculate, bed is super comfy and the amenities are the best I've ever seen. The porch is perfect and that hammock....well it's the best! Relaxing in the hot tub looking at the stars and the lightening was awesome.
Best little place we've stayed in a long time.
Will definitely be back... next trip will be in the winter so we can utilize the stove and fire pit!!
The Perfect Peaceful Getaway
We had such a wonderful time at the River Ridge Guest Ranch. There were three of us: my husband, our almost 2 year old, and myself, who stayed there as our 7th anniversary getaway. Kim and Tom made us feel so welcomed and were very accommodating. There was even a handwritten welcome note wishing us a happy anniversary. The cottage itself made you feel like you were right at home. It was beautifully furnished and well equipped with basically everything you need except your own clothes. You do need to bring your own meals but the pantry was very well stocked with a variety of items and Kim made us a delicious quiche which we had for breakfast the next morning. They also gave us some very fresh eggs from their chickens to take home.
The property was beautiful and so peaceful. Just outside the kitchen windows, you can see a wide variety of wild birds hanging out by the feeders on the trees. They had many chickens at the barn and cute little chicks that were just recently hatched. Kim was so patient and kind around our daughter, who helped her feed the chickens! During our morning walk, Cody the horse and Wilbur the goat even came over to say hi and allowed us to pet them.
Our only regret was not being able to stay for longer. We will definitely come back soon! So if you live in Tucson (or anywhere else in the world, really) and want to getaway from the city, please do yourselves a favor and stay at Kim and Tom's!
