Great ocean front condo with the luxuries of pool and beach front access. This well appointed unit has what it takes for even 2 families with small children or a large group. Having a master suite and a queen suite enables guests to have parental privacy along with their children and their guests.

Heron Cove is the premier condo complex on the island with only 24 exclusive units this place has privacy as well as convenience. Although it is a first floor unit we are able to see the ocean from our balcony through the beach access. (see photos)

Great location

I've used home away twice now to go to OBX. The first time the location wasn't great (we had to walk half a mile to get to the beach) but everything else was super. This time I picked a great location, right on the beach with a pool too. But the beds were really hard and only one was remotely acceptable. I was with a group so my bed was the bunk bed in the back room. Was like a slab of concrete, and it was curved upward like sleeping at the top of a hill. I think it had bent downwards from heavy use and somebody got the bright idea to flip the frame over. I slept on the couch the whole stay. Also, the sheets and towels were not soft at all. They were hospital grade, hard and abrasive. And we had to make our beds as soon as we arrived after driving 12 hours. Also, the kitchen was not well stocked at all. Very unlike my previous stay at the other place. We had to buy dish soap, a sponge for washing dishes, garbage bags, a kitchen towel, hand soap and bath soap for each bathroom. We even had to buy toilet paper.

The pool was really nice, the beach was GREAT! We had strange weather during our stay. The beginning was very warm, then a storm rolled through and it got cold. During the warm part, I tried opening some of the living room windows and realized the crank had been removed. So no open widows for us! We were able to open the sliding doors, so that was good.

Another thing, the furniture was really uncomfortable too. The couch was OK (remember, it was my bed too), but there are 2 chairs that rock and when you sit in them, they pitch you forward so you are in a perpetual slouch. To overcome this, we dragged in some of the outdoor tables and we were able to perch our feet on the table and use it to push against. This pushed the rockers back to an upright position while using the table as an ottoman.

Overall great location, but don't plan on getting any sleep unless you take the king bed.

Last thing - WiFi was spotty. On my phone it was non-existent, but my friend's phone was fine. We both have the same phone. One person had a tablet it worked fine, another person had a tablet that kept getting kicked off WiFi.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that the unit did not meet YOUR expectations, the issues as you have expressed will be addressed below. I am surprised that you did not call me since you had my cell number and actually started to communicate and ask questions even before you entered the unit. First of all you are the third renter we have had this early season and all preceding renters had large groups. Nobody before you complained about the bed in the third bedroom but we will look at it and fix or replace it if we see fit. Secondly, I am sorry that the beds weren't made up for you but we do not include that in our pricing to keep prices low, remember we are not a hotel. Most people don't mind making the beds to their liking and we never have received a complaint and all units have the same policy. Also the towels are standard fare for a rental home in the OBX. Again we have never had complaints about linens not being"soft" enough. The windows do not open because of beach corrosion we keep them closed for safety and we have air conditioning. As far as the paper goods it is policy with most rentals in the OBX that renters must buy toilet paper and paper towels and soap. This is not a hotel and you are expected to supply your own consumables. We try to keep our prices competitive and most people don't mind going across the street to the Dollar Store or Food Lion to get trash bags and dish soap. The furniture that you say is not comfortable is custom designed and fabricated decor that is only 2 years old and we never have had a complaint. The barrel chairs are especially unique and everyone had told me how much they like them. I guess you can't please everyone! The Wifi is centrally located in the unit as with all wifi you have to be close to get the best signal. We use Silicon Travel and they are very good at addressing these issues. All of this being said you had my cell number and never bothered to call me. We could have addressed any of these issues. Even though most are out of our control our policy is never to have a renter dissatisfied, but you didn't even give us a chance. We have been renting our personal unit for the past 18 years and always get a great reviews among vacationers who use it. We also get rave reviews as is evidenced in our guest book in the unit. I am sorry that your experience was not what you expected and we appreciate the feedback. We will address those concerns for future vacationers to the best of our ability. Thanks for staying ..

Perfect place!

We had a fabulous week at Heron Cove! The place is beautiful.....kitchen well stocked. I brought a crock pot, a mixer and a griddle but they already had those! Only thing missing was cookie sheets and could use more silverware. We highly recommend this place and would/will definitely rent it again!

Great condo and wonderful location

Thanks so much Roy for sharing your lovely home with our family! We had a wonderful week. Your home had everything we needed. Lots of room, comfy furniture and a well stocked kitchen. Tons of room for a large family or probably 2. Loved the fact it was just steps away from the pool and beach...about 100 steps(i am short) from the front door to the beautiful beach sand. The complex was very quiet and family friendly which I appreciate. Loved that the complex had covered parking which kept the car cool in the high heat. Your condo was close to many things, Jockey Ridge, outlet shopping, Wright Brothers museum, great restaurants, 2 piers and plenty of places to kayak and do other water sports. I wanted to visit the lighthouses in the area and it was close to all but Cape Lookout, about 3.5 hrs to that one, but we made a day trip just to see it...It was worth it! Gorgeous beach there, wild horses, boat ride and of course the beautiful lighthouse. Be sure to try Duck Donuts, yummy! Scammel's for ice cream. Millers waterfront restaurant for some great seafood. If you go to Hatteras, Bros sandwich is great. We had a great time here and would love to come back. Thanks again Roy for contacting me so quickly, even on a holiday :) Your home was perfect for our family and we will enjoy the memories for a long time.

Great Experience and very accommodating

This unit was very clean and convenient to the beach and pool. No other 1st floor units have views like this of the ocean. There was some unexpected construction taking place at the complex that caused disturbance to our stay. The owner of the unit and the association of the complex were very concerned of the affects this had on our vacation and offered a resolution that composted for the issue. We have stayed at rental properties for the past 20 years in Nags Head. We have never had a more positive experience with the owners of a rental property. While the construction put a damper on our vacation, we are looking forward to staying at this unit again next year.

If you want a beach location that is ocean front yet close to shopping, restaurants and miniature golf and other family activities then this place is for you. There is protected parking under the complex that is available and free to all renters. Many folks love this location because they feel the freedom of being on the beach and near things that are happening. There are public walkways up and down the beach road that extends for all of Nags Head, that you can go for a jog or take a walk.
