About Kim Shaffer

We are Greg & Kim and Bryan & Shanna. Greg and Kim currently live in Little Rock, AR, and Bryan and Shanna are locals. Most of us grew up in the Los Angeles area, but Bryan and Kim's parents fell in love with the Sequoias and bought property in Three Rivers in the early 1990's. We have either lived here or visited frequently since that time, soaking up the beauty and peace this area has to offer as often as possible.

Kim Shaffer purchased this house in 2013

Why Kim Shaffer chose Sequoia, Kings Canyon

The rivers are one of nature's highlights here, so we were excited to be able to own a house with such a beautiful, natural landscape right in our backyard. We bought the house in August, 2013, and have completely renovated it inside and out. Every where you look, there is attention to detail and uniqueness. From the tree in the living room to the horse trough tub, it is obvious we had a lot of fun with this project. Being from a big city, we understand the need for a stress-free, relaxing vacation that allows you to experience nature with all the comforts of home. We hope you love this house and the area as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Our house is conveniently located on a peaceful, quiet lot close to Sequoia National Park, Lake Kaweah, Mineral Kings National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, and downtown Three Rivers. Nearby activities include hiking, boating, fishing, mountain biking, golfing, rafting, wine tasting, antiquing, and swimming. We are also walking distance from the Lion's Arena, where several fun, local festivals are held.

Beautiful, serene oasis in amazing country!

This was our first time to this part of California... And WOW!! It was gorgeous!!! The River House did not disappoint either!! The home is so cozy and well-appointed. We had everything we needed and then some. The patio and hammock were our favorites. We hung out on both and literally felt our stress melt away!

The house is located in the quaint town of Three Rivers, which was so convenient to the Sequoia National Park. We had such an amazing time in the park.

We highly recommend staying at this home! It was so comfortable and serene!

They've Remebered to include everything you'll need!

  • 5 of 5

The River House was clean, well equipped and really nice! From the complementary delicious bakery treats, board games for use, books, and s'mores squewers, to the crisp clean white towels, and complementary soaps and shapoo, we couldn't have asked for anything more! It is located right on the river, and in a peaceful, serene location. One tip I'd give to future guests is that GPS takes you to South Kaweah Rd, and this home is located off of North (Kaweah Rd; the road sign for the turn off simply says "North"). We visited the Sequoia Park and ate on the river at the Riverview Restarant, which had great atmosphere and sweet servers. There is a market and gas station within 2 miles and The Pizza Factory was quite yummy! We would definitely visit and stay here again. It felt like home away from home!!!

Perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place. It's perfect. It has the feel of a river house/ cabin and feels and looks crisp and light. It is really smartly decorated. With the tree stump in the living room, the metal bath tub, wood living room table etc. They were great about supplying: toilet paper, paper towels, soap, hair dryer etc. Having the washer and dryer were great too. The air conditioner is super important. It gets hot and we were able to cool down in the house. The way the made the fire pit and the sticks sticking out of the rock to cook with was way too cute. The boys made smores every day. It's great that they have wifi. As you don't get good cell reception in the mountains. We watched tv on the ipads and netflix on their tv. They had plenty of towels for us and even beach towels for when we went to the public swimming hole.

They have a cute book with recommendations on restaurants etc.

I do recommend the following:

Bring your laundry detergent -Its the newer "HE" style so bring the right kind of detergent. They do leave you some but not enough for me.

Bring some groceries from down the mountain or home. The groceries at the market are way expensive.

Plan to eat at home on Monday nights the better higher yelped restaurants are closed on Monday.

Go to Sierra Subs, Riemmers homemade ice cream and candy there is also a yummy shaved ice place there.

Remote, in nature, very nice, clean, quiet, modern 2br 1ba house

  • 4 of 5

We stayed with two teenagers as a family and had a wonderful time. It's about a 1 hour drive away from general Sherman tree. There is a small river behind the backyard, kayaks are available as is a barbecue which we put to great use.Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everything else you need is available. We had an excellent time.

A relaxing stay along the Northfork River

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful vacation rental that has its own access to the Northfork River with a large boulder in it for those lounge lizards that like to soak in the sun. It has everything that you need when getting away from it all. The outdoor space of the property is very inviting with plenty of chairs on the patio, a cozy hammock, a fire pit for that starlit get together, and a hot tub that is ready the moment you arrive. The inside is warm and cozy with plenty of seating for groups. The space has a modern feel. I vacationed in June, and there was plenty of water in the rivers. If you venture out to eat, you can't help but get a river front table at almost anywhere you go. The owner does a great job of recommending the best places to visit during your stay. Overall, this is a great place to stay. There are many things to do in the area, or if you want, so many ways to relax without leaving the property. The pictures do not do this place justice. I will definitely be back.

Great House in Three Rivers

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at the River House recently. The moment we arrived, we knew this would be a place to relax and unwind. The house is on the bank of a river and has a beautiful view of a mountain.

The house is very clean and welcoming. The kitchen has all the essentials (pots and pans, appliances, etc.). It is nicely decorated and one can tell the owners have paid a lot of attention to the details. Especially nice touches were the muffins and fresh flowers.

Outside, there is a wonderful covered patio with a view of the river. There are also a fire pit, a huge grill and a hot tub. Additionally, there are two RV hook ups which would make it a great location to share with family and friends. A majority of our time there was spent on the patio and by the river visiting with friends. In the mornings, we spent time listening to the birds chirping and water flowing; this was incredibly relaxing.

Three Rivers is a quaint little town close to the entrance of Sequoia National Park. There are a number of small shops, including an antique shop and ice cream store, within a couple of miles of house. The proximity to the National Park make it an ideal location: visit the park during the day and relax at the house in the evening.

The house is a great little hideaway and we are already planning a return visit next year.
