French doors off of master bedroom onto the deck allow guests sweeping views of expansive Lake Huron from bed. Listen to waves crashing on the shore and watch shooting stars and illuminated barges on the horizon all from the comfort of bed. Our family really enjoyed our week at the lakefront cottage! The location is great with a view that can't be beaten! We loved walking on the beach in front of the cottage! Rogers City was very convenient and we found the people to be very friendly. The bike/walking trail was really nice and we enjoyed it daily! Great little restaurants and shops so close by yet the cottage was so private! We felt very safe in this area! Our kids loved having the kayak. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with two exceptions. First of all we had several days with 90 degree temperatures and that made the house very hot! It was hard to sleep even with fans and open windows. In the future I would never rent without a/c. Secondly, the flies were really bad and we needed air in the living room. Had to fix the screen on the door so we could leave the big door open to get a cross breeze. Our boys slept in the basement and they did enjoy the coolness of the lower level. However, due to the huge temperature difference, we did experience a lot of condensation that we had to wipe up on the floor downstairs. The cottage was very clean, beds were very comfortable, and we found all of the things we needed to cook and barbecue. Overall our first trip to Michigan was wonderful and we did enjoy ourselves!
The home is very clean and beautifully decorated, with a stunning view of of Lake Huron. Everything you could possibly need is provided. The living room and deck is where we spent a lot of time. You can't beat relaxing after dinner looking out at the lake watching freighters, sailboats and fishing boats go by. The kitchen is well equipped to make a quick breakfast or pack for a picnic lunch at the local lighthouse. There's even a charcoal grill for steaks, burgers or dogs. The queen size beds are very comfortable! With the northern fresh air, it's easy to fall asleep listening to the gentle waves rolling into the shore. The basement is very nicely decorated with a queen size bed on one side and Murphy beds on the other side of the room. All were also very comfortable, with a full size bathroom conveniently located nearby. The beach was a daily ritual for me taking walks at various times of the day and evening, enjoying the scenery, feeling the breeze and sunshine on my face. Swimming does require swim shoes due to the rocky bottom; water is fairly cold, but kids love it and dive right in! The customer service provided by Dana was timely and attentive, making sure there was nothing missed. There were stores in town we checked out like the Painted Lady, Richards Clothing, the art store where I found a wonderful piece for my living room. Can't miss having breakfast at Karstons where they have the best breakfasts, including cinnamon buns that are pure joy. Dinner at the Lighthouse has great pizza. We had one rainy day so we kicked back and had played our own Euchre Tournament. I lost of course but what fun hanging out with the kids and having lots of laughs. We took care to leave our shoes on the deck before coming into the house since the sap from the trees sticks to the shoes. This vacation I rank very high and would absolutely rent it again and highly recommend it to others. It was Perfecrly Relaxing! Thank you Dana!
I spent many childhood summers in northern Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron with friends and family, and now that I'm living out of state I wanted badly to recreate that experience for my wife and young son. To that end, renting this cottage for 4 nights was the best outcome I could have possibly hoped for.
The house is gorgeous -- clean, bright, spacious, with all the amenities needed to feel comfortable. But to be honest, the house could have been a cardboard box and we still would have been thrilled, based solely on the views from the back patio. That's what we came for, and it was everything we'd hoped it would be. There's nothing quite like spending your mornings, afternoons and evenings gazing out into the endless horizon of Lake Huron, listening to the waves crashing 20 yards from the door, sipping on a cold beer or a hot coffee and not having a care in the world. We live stressful lives and wanted a quiet, relaxing getaway. This property -- complete with hammock, bench swing and bonfire pit, all framed by a private beach -- was just what the doctor ordered. I've stayed in cottages and on campgrounds all over the east side of the state, and this was easily the prettiest and most private location I've come across.
To boot, the service was outstanding. Dana was ultra-responsive and helpful in answering any questions before, during and after the stay. There was no hassling or harassing over costs, deposits, etc. The process was straightforward and gimmick-free. We felt totally at ease renting this property, and I could not be more enthusiastic in recommending it for others. My wife and I are already planning a return visit next summer!
