About Linda Dravis
This cottage has been in my family for five generations. It began as a small summer camp for fishing and hunting. My great grandfather and great grandmother as well as answer uncles gathered there regularly. There were always Raucous games of croquet as well as Fish fries and card games well into the night. Two generations later, my parents came to own the cottage. My mother was a Norwegian citizen and together with my father they pulled out the walls, opened it up and put in a spiral staircase, indoor plumbing and a beautiful wood stove. The hand hewn original beams are still there. The original camp now resembles a beautiful little Norwegian cottage complete with hand-painted Rosemalling shutters. When my parents passed away, I could not contemplate selling it so therefore I have put it on VRBO so that more people can enjoy it and that I can afford to hold onto it! It is a very special place and I truly wish you a wonderful time there. I hope you treat it kindly and love it as much as I do. Thank you, Linda Dravis PS I am an international in-flight manager for a major airline and cannot be here all the time. Please Enjoy your stay!

Why Linda Dravis chose Swanton
This cottage has been in my family since the late 1800's. It has been the center of many wonderful times. We have taken out interior walls, put in a rod iron spiral staircase, opened up the space . I also installed new electric, new plumbing, new front porch, new chimney, wifi. I hope that you will really enjoy your peaceful time here while respecting its 135 year age. Thank you!

Cozy, comfortable and peaceful!
Our stay at Highgate Springs was wonderful!! The cozy, clean cottage is charming! Loved exploring all its history in the memorabilia there to read....since August decided to quickly turn to Fall in the 40s, the wood stove added to the experience! I would recommend this place for a quiet retreat!!
Wonderful long weekend
This house is so charming and comfortable and even better than the pictures. The beds were comfy and the place was very clean. The big yard was great for the dog and kids to run around and the kayaks were so nice. The neighbors are friendly and helpful. I loved the quiet and peacefulness of the place and wished we could have stayed longer! I will definitely be coming back.
Thank you, Melanie! I am so glad you enjoyed it! Good for our mental health to go to a quiet place every once in a while!!
Good fishing trip with the guys.
Place had 2 kayaks and a grill that were not even listed on the overview which was a nice surprise. Neighbor was very friendly and helpful. Owner was prompt with returning e-mails and text messages.
Hope the fish were biting! Lots of perch, bass, and Northern pike in Mississquoi Bay part of Lake Champlain.
Clean and tidy cottage
Thanks for a nice stay at your cottage. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and some beautiful sunsets. The screened porch was nice for an afternoon nap.
The cottage is rustic as a lake camp should be, but cozy and clean. We appreciated the large clean fridge, microwave and coffee maker. We also used the gas grill on the patio.
I would just mention that access to the second floor bedrooms is a spiral staircase which is not for everyone. The small bathroom is downstairs. This house is typical of older lake cabins, but with added homey charm and a nice lawn and outdoor space.
Camp was charming and we felt at home.
Having vacationed with relatives on Mississquoi Bay over 50 years ago, staying at this camp was nostalgic and reminiscent of summer vacations in the 50s and 60s. This cottage is charming, comfortable, and simply a nice place to stay when visiting friends and relatives in the Highgate Springs area. We hated to leave.
Charming camp near Highgate Springs
My brother and his wife and my wife and I enjoyed the small cottage tremendously. It was charming, quaint, and served as a perfect headquarters for our recent trip to Vermont to reunite with family, friends, and places we haven't visited in over 50 years. It is only a few minutes from the Canadian border (albeit crossing the border in either direction takes way more than a few minutes) which enabled us to dine one evening in St. Armand. Our stay in this camp won't be forgotten.
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. It is truly a peaceful place that seems to slow me down and calm my spirit when I spend time there. I find it best to cross the border just to the easy of the busy I-89 crossing at Morse's Line, a small, quiet country road crossing. Just across that border crossing, there are many cite little French towns with antiques, wineries, pottery, berry picking and small cafés with crepes and croque Monsieur! Very French! Lots to explore on both sides of the border. Enjoy. :)
