Views of Saratoga Passage from the prow-like deck will enhance your stay in our newer, warm, cozy cottage. Buy some wood on the SE corner of the highway and Race Rd on the way in and enjoy the warmth and charm of the wood stove. The windows bring in plenty of light and are wrapped in pine. The bedroom has a high ceiling, a ceiling fan, and a queen-size bed. The couch is a hide-a-bed and the loft offers three more single beds. Wood floors and trim are accompanied by granite and stainless in the kitchen for a warm but modern feel. Designed in the spirit of cottage architecture our place offers a warm feeling with wood accents but with modern finishes and all the conveniences of newer construction. You will love it here, many of our customers come back year after year and have made staying here an important part of their lives.
Across the quiet street from the cottage is a path to the community beach. It is a short walk to the beach which offers 1/4 mile of beach-combing and shelling. There is also a play area for kids with a large grassy field and swings. Enjoy the view of Saratoga Passage, and the peaceful setting which often includes deer meandering through the property.
Take a short drive to the historic Coupeville waterfront or explore Fort Casey (the kids will love exploring the old concrete bunkers and looking at the big guns). The far north end of the island offers spectacular views and an amazing beach at Deception Pass; moving south you will pass through the towns of Coupeville, Freeland, Langley and Clinton. Coupeville and Langley have been the setting for a few movies and are eclectic, fun little towns. There are great events throughout the island year round.
You'll love your stay at our cottage, come and explore a northwest treasure, Whidbey Island and the wonderful and eclectic town of Coupeville!

My longtime friend Steve graduated from the University of Washington College of Architecture and Urban Planning. He designed and we built the cottage in 2003/2004 and we have shared it with many people since. I have owned, operated and managed vacation rentals for over 15 years. My son & I look forward to providing our guests a comfortable and enjoyable experience at our vacation home. Thanks for considering our property, Rob
Rob purchased this cottage in 2004
The cottage is situated on a quiet lot that is speckled with big beautiful Fir trees and has a peek-a-boo view of Saratoga Passage. It is a wonderful setting.
Absolute peace and quiet and watching the resident eagle soar from the deck while watching the occassional sailboat glide by. Watching all of the deer meander across the property and snack on the foliage. Walking and beachcombing, especially during low tide.
Thank you so very much for the use of the cottage, it's wonderful!! The view from your deck, 5:45 Easter morning, was very moving...watching the sun rise, the colors turn from orange to full light, was magical...Enjoy the bottle of wine we left for you...
Absolutely loved it. The cabin was the perfect size, super cozy.
We will definitely be back!
Came in on Friday found a great view and place to relax at. Will be back often.
We really enjoyed our stay in Rob's home. It was very comfortable and well-furnished. The well-equipped kitchen was particularly nice, and the location near the water is beautiful. My wife and I really loved it. I don't see how anyone could be unhappy staying there.
We only had minor problems. We couldn't get the TV or audio system to work. I know modern audio/video systems can be complicated, but it would be nice to work up basic instructions. I had brought some audio CDs and would have really liked to have played them.
The tub in the bathroom was very slow to drain. That probably needs to be looked into.
Just finished a short stay in this property. It was exactly like I expected from the photos, with the exception on one extra small loveseat in the living room (which made it just a bit crowded.) Otherwise, it was very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect - privacy plus proximity to ferry and the rest of Whidbey Island. The loft is accessed by quite steep stairs, and would be unsuitable for the very young or very old. Our 28 year old son thought it was fine, though the head room was a slight problem when he forgot to duck in the corners. The kitchen really is fully equipped. We have stayed in vacation rentals which are stripped of any spices, condiments, etc. between renters. I can see taking out perishable foods, but mustard?? This one is not like that. We brought our own spices, but I could have made do with what was there.
The house was a quark little cottage that was just the perfect size. It was close to town and the the Port Townsend Ferry. Rob was very helpful in giving us some to do's in the area, and the whole experience was overall very pleasant. Thanks!
This was a comfortable house to stay at. It has a spectacular view of the sound and amazing sunrises. This property almost fees like a tree house especially with the loft.
This property is in a great neighborhood and is close to the town of Coupville. If you are looking for a coffee from Whidbey Coffee, Freeland is only an 18 min drive away!
It seems to be best suited for two adults and some kids who can climb up in the loft, but 4 adults can sleep their comfortably as well.
Overall, this was a great rental and we will happily return to it the next time we head to Whidbey Island.
Awesome hikes, beaches, Fort Casey and several great small towns close by! Visit Coupeville it is a quaint and attractive historic town that is situated on the waterfront about 10 minutes north of our cottage. In Coupeville you will find a grocery store, liquor store, bowling alley, many shops and several restaurants; it is a must visit small town.
